Too bad General Manager isn’t open. It’s not like one could do any worse.

The Tigers are one Correa short of being in the playoff hunt. I have no idea whether or not Avila is talented or not, but ignoring all they accomplished this year is self-defeating.
YankeesBleacherCreature
I’m pretty sure they’ll land Correa or Seager this offseason. Illitchs aren’t known to blow smoke at their fans.
The Saber-toothed Superfife
Lying to yourself, it is just bad business.
Fortunately for me, I have been drinking KoolAid since I was a kid and I am immune to the stuff.
REALITY – makes Superfife the best MAN for the job.
SportsFan0000
Avila’s Dad, Ralph was a Dodgers VP.
Avila has done a good job with what he had to start with a roster overloaded with over paid, declining veterans and a farm system stripped bare for an ending 10 year run of pennant contention
The Saber-toothed Superfife
A fair job. Many, many missed opportunities. The rebuild was not very aggressive. He stutter stepped several times believing he would be the recipient of a miracle…. Contracts signed were not rebuild, tradable contracts. He did not appear to be targeting other teams top prospects, just wandering into whatever….. Signed no one with the intention of trading them. Did not take on other teams salary in exchange for.top prospects. Hired no one of interest. There are many additional items the Superfife could list but won’t right now.
I liked the diamonds in the rough effort. Didn’t work out too well but it is a good concept. Kinda stinks and is very weird cutting guys who are still in their early 20s when they still have so.much potential. But it has to happen.
Al must be too close to these guys to do the dirty work – what has to be done.
Me, on the other hand, have learned nice guys get screwed. And I learned that the hard way.
There are lots of things Al can do RIGHT NOW.
LIKE HIRE THE SUPERFIFE.
Seriously, this year, right now, is presenting some unique opportunities for the Tigers if they can recognize them and act on them.

Just take the Pro Scouting Intern position for now. Learn to make good coffee and keep Miggy alive, you’ll receive your five-year GM contract in a year.

Enjoy another winter, Yankee

Tigers will also be accepting applications for shortstop, outfielder, and starting pitcher. Six plus years experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate/s.
bucsfan0004
The Pirates will be doing the same. However, if you have 6+ years of experience, youre excluded from consideration

I have a jersey. Can I apply for an infield position?
Sheep8
Only if you have a cup
wileycoyote56
No, there full of Jersey fillers, need a hitting shortstop
stymeedone
@StChris
Snortstop, yes. OF, no. Detroit has a solid group of young OFs with more coming. Starting pitcher, obviously! Every team in MLB has starting pitching on their wish list! I think your application just got weeded from the stack.

I’m a RS fan, and don’t particularly follow the Tigers, but their outfield next year will be Grossman, Baddoo, and Green. If you are a Tigers fan, you need to keep up with your own minor league system.
Assdribble_Cabrera
Saint Clown is more like it.
Curly Was The Smart Stooge
@stymeedone, Snortstop is open, Belushi & half the country is applying for that position.
oldleftylong
Easy peasy. Question is … who will be #4 OF on the bench??
tstats
You guys missed the joke
detroitdave84
I think George Constanza might be applying.
sleepy bear
First step would be to change the jerseys to cotton.

Step 2: build a nap space under the desk.

Apply to director “Art Van Delay”
Joe says...
I thought Van Delay Industries was in latex.

I should be hired for all positions. I would bring a championship to Detroit
JeffreyChungus
Pros: Get to work in baseball
Cons: Detroit
stymeedone
Pros: Won’t have to work with FletcberFan69 as if he was ever qualified, just eliminated himself from consideration.
JeffreyChungus
Fair point. I’m sure the recruiting team will shiver in fear when they see FletcherFan69 at the top of my resume (I hate my parents for naming me this)
Blah blah blah
Steve why would any of the clowns you comment here be qualified to work in an MLB office?? (Yes that includes myself)
JoeBrady
A couple of the guys commenting on the Tigers, apparently know very little about them.
Melvin McMurf
lots of jobs out there teamworkonline.com/baseball-jobs/baseballjobs/majo…
Steve Lawrence
I’d be thrilled to work for the Tigers. Hard to judge Avila because he inherited a fast sinking ship of an aged team with bloated contacts and a barren farm. He built up analytics, drained the swamp of old school guys, restocked the farm and rebuilt from the depths. It’s been a terrible 5 year stretch but things are finally looking positive.
The Saber-toothed Superfife
It’s been pretty easy, so far…..
Sideline Redwine
Still waiting for a team to open up the coveted “historian” position…
miltpappas
Are they also advertising on craigslist?
GarryHarris
That seems like a lot of openings. Is that normal?
The Saber-toothed Superfife
Mr Illich,
There seems to be one job opening left off of this list- Al Avilas’ boss.
It seems like a very unusual oversight. I thought I would write you a quick memo to alert you to this fact.
By the way, I am available for the job.
My qualifications: I am a universal tightwad- ask any waitress in town. Seriously, the idea of spending millions of dollars frightens me, but in the right environment, I could get used to it.
Each year brings new, unique and exciting opportunities in major league baseball. This year is no exception. However, I would not reveal strategy here in this public forum. It would be to our mutual benefit to arrange for a more private meeting so these items may be discussed in detail for the Detroit Tigers exclusively.
Really, come on down and we’ll watch some Audy Murphy and become honorary Texicans while we discuss matters over a couple shots.
Signed Sincerely,
The Superfife
