Disjointed Team
We don’t need to see pitching coaches in the HOF.
Weasel 2
Nope. But we don’t need owners in there either.
miltpappas
We don’t need “good” players in, either. Once they started admitting guys like Lee Smith, Jim Rice, Harold Baines, Alan Trammell and Ted Simmons, I lost all interest.
Disjointed Team
If you don’t want Simmons in as a catcher, then don’t push for Molina.

You’re acting as if they just started to let anyone into the Hall Of Fame. This has happened all throughout baseball history. The bar to make the Hall Of Fame is higher now than it has ever been.
Fever Pitch Guy
Could be worse, the basketball HOF recently inducted a fan. Just another reason why baseball is the best sport.
DarkSide830
most of that gang is deserving…
Fever Pitch Guy
I’m not gonna get into a debate about those players you listed, but Cooperstown is still a lot harder to get into than the HOF’s of other sports.
There have been many years when either nobody or just one person got inducted, can’t say the same for other sports.
paddyo furnichuh
It has risen higher and higher, which is ironic. Players from eras who performed far better than average when most players were far less skilled are admitted to the Hall. If born today, Babe Ruth would probably be just some obese good old boy with no business in professional sports.
The people elected to the MLB Hall of Fame is made up of members of a dying industry (print media) who cling to some unreasonable ideal for what makes a Hall of Famer when the vast majority of them could not even run a 5 minute mile.
Pardon my rant, but it’s reality.

The people *responsible for electing those to the HOF*
Jean Matrac
That’s some bitter grapes from that complaining Dodger fan. It’s not true that every single Giants player is having a career year. Some guys are, but guys like Dickerson Yastrzemski, Slater, Flores, Solano, Dubon, and LaStella, are all having subpar seasons from their career norms.
Some people just can’t take defeat graciously. It’s always some excuse like being robbed by the umps, or the other team cheating somehow. Typical sort of excuse you could hear from a 12 year old.
fox471 Dave
Dodger fan here and I could not agree more with Tad. I am as dumbfounded as anyone else by the Giants success. But kudos all around for that team. Great job this year. Down to 19 games left and I still think we can catch them. However, this year that prognosis has proved to be faulty, to say the least.
Jean Matrac
No doubt the Dodgers can still catch the Giants. 2 1/2 games can be made up in one series. The Giants have won 7 in a row, but the Dodgers have been relentless on their tail.
The Giants have 10 games left against the Padres, and how well they do is huge. The Padres could spoil things for the Giants.
The Giants are a good team. Anyone that denies that after 143 games is just delusional. But it wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see the Dodgers take the division.
Gmen777
Two biggest concerns for the Dodgers imo Is this last road trip and that last series against the Brewers. The Brewers will probably have everything locked up and not start their stud pitchers, but they’re still a very good team (right up there with the Giants and Dodgers). That road trip goes through Cincy whose trying for a WC spot (although they’ve looked extremely bad lately), Coors field where pitching matchups mean next to nothing and then Chase Field which isn’t a challenge but the DBacks still play better at home.
mister guy
Yeah as a giants fan tbh I am not scared of the dodgers in the post season, it would be tight and could go either way but from what we saw with them the burnes woodruff 1-2 punch is a killer and it seems like every guy that comes to the plate gets bigger and bigger like a bugs bunny cartoon
mister guy
I mean you shouldn’t be for a few reasons:
-farhan had a lot to do with what was going on when mucy, Taylor and others that were discarded guys suddenly became superstars
-some of the sorcery really has to do with management of the players, if you pay attention the lineup is heavily platooned and changes day to day with a lot of guys that were considered not good because someone like wade has had one hit off a left handed pitcher this year… so what do you do? Predominantly put him in against righties where he is massively successful. You also see it with pinch hitters where a lot of these late inning wins he makes head scratching pinch hitter moves that end up winning the game and it is purely based on scouting and matchups.
– last year the giants missed the postseason by one game and if not for the shakiness of the bullpen probably would have had 10 or more additional wins in games that were remarkable collapses. After last year’s successes the coaching staff (which is massive with 4 batting coaches that are deep data guys) built on that and offensively both younger and older hitters have bought in.
gbs42
The bullpen cost them 10+ wins in a 60-game season? I don’t think so, unless you expect the ‘pen to be perfect every appearance.
Angels & NL West
Someone on the chat sure wants to trade Walsh and Marsh for pitching. The Angels have 7 cost controlled SP options next year. They also have a slew of internal RP options on the way. The Angels still need pitching to be sure, but I dont foresee them trading away two controllable position players from the major league roster – not when their salary structure is so top heavy.
Six of the Angels top 15 prospects are SS. Excluding Adell and Marsh, they also have several OF prospects. I would expect any trades for pitching to start with young SS and OF as part of the return package.
Fever Pitch Guy
I agree with Mark that the question about trading Verdugo was kinda dumb. He’s under team control for 3 more seasons, he hasn’t come close to his ceiling yet, what’s the point of trading him?
Jean Matrac
Agree. Fans seem to think about other team’s players strictly in regard to how good that guy would be on their team, without considering whether it makes sense for the other team. Sure, Verdugo would be a nice piece to acquire, but why would the Sox trade him?
It’s like all those fans talking about their team acquiring Jose Ramirez last off season. Why would the Indians trade a very good player, that was cheap and under team control, when they thought they could contend?
warnbeeb
Verdugo and Renfroe in the OF for the Red Sox is top notch. I absolutely love Renfroe. That play gunning down that Ray at 3rd to end Wednesday night’s game was one of the highlights of the year.
I can’t believe the Rays released him. He has to be one the best bargains in MLB right now.
Red Sox could not be faulted if they signed him for 3-4-5 years.
FredMcGriff for the HOF
@warn. It was because of Renfroe and his .156/.252/.393 slash over 122 at bats in 2020 that got him a non tender.
