The latest coronavirus-related moves from around baseball…
- The Blue Jays placed right-hander Joakim Soria on the COVID-related injury list, and recalled left-hander Kirby Snead from Triple-A to fill Soria’s roster spot. Acquired in a trade deadline deal with the Diamondbacks, Soria has an ungainly 7.88 ERA over eight innings in his brief time with the Jays, though that number was inflated by a nightmarish outing (four runs allowed without retiring a batter) against the A’s on September 4.

I’m just now recovering from a hard battle with Covid. I have been anti mask anti vax and even went to a protest over mandates. Once you get it, it changes your perspective quite a bit.

I’m glad that you are recovering!
Monkey’s Uncle
I’m thrilled that you’re feeling better. I had my bout with COVID last year, and even though I had a relatively mild case, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
MWeller77
I had a mild case as well last month.
I got the Pfizer in March and while my infection was of course a breakthrough case, I’m pretty sure that the jab kept my case mild rather than moderate to severe. And as you note, even a mild case of COVID is miserable: easily the sickest I’ve ever felt as an adult. (The only thing in my life that compares was chicken pox at age 11 for three weeks.) I’m a teacher, and pre-pandemic I would get the flu or a cold once a year; the symptoms usually lasted for two days, three at the max. Mild COVID was basically like a truck hit me for six or seven days in a row.
I never want anyone to get sick, of course, but my experience gives me a visceral understanding that all COVID recoveries are cases for celebration. It’s a terrible, terrible illness. I was also fortunate enough to have enough living space so that I could effectively isolate and that kept my family from getting sick as well.

Congratulations on your recovery.

I’m glad you’re feeling better! I hope other people who are in a similar position to the one you were in listen to you as a voice of wisdom.

Glad you’re getting better. I just found through a mutual friend that our friend died due to Covid complications last month on his home recliner. Although, we had fallen out of touch, I now wish it wasn’t like that. I made a donation towards his toddler’s 529 college fund (set up by friends) and I bawled after hitting the submit button.

Congrats in the recovery. Mad respect for coming out about that as well. It takes guts to admit any of that.

Your supreme leader called it the China virus and Kung Flu. Why would you want the Chinese virus make you ill and possibly kill you? Glad that you’re ok but you deserved to get sick. Your dopey anti-mask, anti-mask idiot friends deserve to get sick too. But nobody deserves to die from this, no matter how dumb they are.

I’m glad you’ve reconsidered your perspective, though I wish you’d done that before you got sick. There’s a reason almost all doctors and scientists support masks, vaccines, and pandemic-related restrictions, after all.

These are great and sobering comments. I am considering the booster, not quite old enough, but my immune system is compromised from fighting Lyme and Bartonella, Epstein-Barr and two parasites. Quite the toxic mess. This disease is absolutely heartbreaking. I’ll do whatever I can to keep it from spreading.
In other news, those damn yankees! Argh.

Get the advice of a good doctor on whether you need the booster or not.
