The Cardinals have placed Andrew Miller on the 10-day injured list because of a left foot blister, per the team. This will be the second time Miller misses time because of a blister on his foot. He missed the entire month of May because of a similar injury. When healthy, he has a 4.94 ERA/4.54 FIP over 31 innings.
Kodi Whitley has been recalled from Triple-A to take Miller’s roster spot. Whitley has made 12 appearances with the big league club this year, giving up seven earned runs on seven hits and seven walks while striking out eight over 10 1/3 innings.
Additionally, Dakota Hudson will head to Palm Beach for a rehab assignment in Single-A, and Mark Saxon suggests Hudson could pitch out of the Cardinals bullpen soon. Hudson has been out for the entire season recovering from Tommy John surgery. The Cardinals would love to have a healthy Hudson in their rotation next season, but this year they will focus on working his arm back into game shape. Hudson’s one full season resulted in 174 2/3 innings of 3.35 ERA baseball back in 2019.

No loss here… he only pitches when the game is out of hand. Hope to never see him with birds on the bat again.

I agree was a big disappointment.
jkoch717
Yep. I was hoping they would sign him, and then he fell flat. True shame. Seems to be a great guy too.
HubcapDiamondStarHalo
He obviously needs to stop pitching with his foot…
Champs64
Oh I don’t know. He may pitch just as well with his feet. What a bad move when the front office signed this guy. I thought he would be a exceptional pitcher for us but frankly I will not miss him.
Nothing
Never understood how this guy went from best reliever in the league with the Indians to a low leverage guy with St. Louis.

No velocity, slider is no longer wipe out at all. Injuries and age have caught up with him. That’s how.
Monkey’s Uncle
I was coming here to say the same thing: what the heck happened to him?
willyg60
Age, wear and tear

Maybe two pairs of socks? Seems like a logical fix that he would have thought of after previously missing so much time with the same injury.
Is his footwear sized too big/too small?
Either way, bye Andy.
Disjointed Team
Why would they even consider bringing Hudson back this year?
BuyBuyMets
Why would someone post that Miller’s signing was a bad move by the Cards but at the same time say they were hoping for it or they thought he would be exceptional at the time?
Talk about brain dead hindsight at it’s finest.
jonsteele
Well to be fair you can say it was a bad move but at the time you were for it and still be correct.
I think they were saying they were a fan of the signing at the time, but his performance didn’t meet the expectations overall so it was a bad move in hindsight.
DonOsbourne
I think he lost interest in playing. I think he is mostly collecting a check from the Cardinals while he devotes most of his energy to the upcoming labor situation. But no matter what, good riddance. Another contract off the books. Addition by subtraction.
Polish Hammer
Miller’s 2016-17 pitching in Cleveland was phenomenal and also changed how bullpens were managed. Shame he’s floundered since then.
eephus11
He got abused by the Indians and the Yankees making deep playoff runs. It was all for the glory but he was also a late bloomer so his arm is just toast. Bad contract for a great has been but they should’ve been able to see a large probability of this result when they offered the contract.
Deadguy
This is Miller’s second stint on the IL with a blister on his foot. First time it was in May but on the opposite foot. He missed the whole month, seems the birds don’t want him pitching? I hope the Cardinals are done signing relief pitchers for way to much money, It doesn’t work out for them to well.

ANYBODY GOT A BAND-AID FOR ANDY’S FOOT??!! Or maybe some orthopedic shoes?! An extra sock??!! Suck it up, dude.
