Does anybody in the NL east think this is a race???
Gwynning
By definition I would call it a 4-team race. I doubt the Marlins piece a streak together but at 3.5 games the Mets lead is very tenuous and contingent on playing well the rest of the season.
MetsFan22
The Mets have a a far better team than anyone on the east. And are 47-40 while playing with their Minor league lineup for most of the year. While loosing multiple starting pitchers too.. By far has been the most affect team in the league by injures. The should run away with the division in the 2nd half… I’d bet my car house and job. That’s how confident I am…
mlb1225
The Mets getting swept once and the Braves, Phillies or even Nationals to get a sweep completley changes the division. Heck, even the Mets losing like 3 of their next 5 games could completley change the division.

You say that the Mets have been more devastated by injuries than any other team but have you ever actually looked? Obviously not since this proves you wrong.
MetsFan22
The Mets have the most war lost to injuries…. It doesn’t matter how many it how important of pieces you loss… I didn’t think I’d have to explain this. But here I am
mlb1225
Any team, good players or not, can be bad for a week. With how close it is, all it takes is one cold week to change the division.
Outfield Fly
Haven’t looked into this, but I’d put up D’Arnaud, Soroka, Acuna, etc. by the Braves as pretty brutal. The Ozuna thing wasn’t an injury but it hurts too.
Don’t forget Ynoa, Anderson, and Davidson.
RunDMC
I’m intrigued b/c I don’t think you’ve ever elaborated the claim — most career WAR, most 2021 WAR, most 2020 WAR…?
Really, I’d like to know.
MetsFan22
The experts who look at numbers tried to calculate what team lost the most projected war for 2021 due to injures. Mets were number one. ESPN showed the graphic and I’m sure other sites would back them up.

Link?
“The experts who look at numbers…” is pretty nebulous.
MetsFan22
The Mets played on espn a little before the all star break…. Just find out when the played on espn and skip until you see the screen.
DarkSide830
highly subjective numbers…
RunDMC
NYM still 25th in MLB in team runs. Will deGrom/Walker continue at their pace and/or will FO address lackluster #4/#5 in rotation?
With Lady Luck obviously hating the Mets, you’re acting like the yuppie leading Beat the Freeze heading into the final turn, smiling for the camera. Rarely ends well. Say cheese!
MetsFan22
You guys going to sell at the deadline??? I’d like freeman. Since y’all don’t have enough money to keep him next year.
RunDMC
I hope so, honestly. Alonso sitting the bench…lol. You keep thinking they don’t have the money and not wanting to spend the money on 38, 39, 40 year old 1B. 3rd richest budget and not running away with a division no one wants. (Congrats on stud Kumar Rocker).
Watch the Braves stay competitive without Ozuna, Acuna, d’Arnaud, Soroka, Ynoa. They haven’t been above .500 (1 of 3 MLB teams in 2021) all year, meaning no decent winning streaks.
MetsFan22
I was joking about trading for freeman. He wouldn’t work out here bc we have a 1st basemen. But when the DH comes next year. We could definitely take him away. And unite him with his close friend degroms
MetsFan22
Btw I’m not predicting freeman will be a met. Lol
Ya'll a bunch of salty crybabies
Farce Zaidi got OWNED! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Shrutefarm
Look for the Braves to make a couple additions (outfield and rotation) and make a strong run at the “up for grabs” NL East.
kripes-brewers
I’m intrigued by the Story to Brewers concept, but am extremely doubtful that happens. They’ve been messing around with that infield for several years now and I think they have settled on what they’ve got at this point – they just want to see how they mesh for a while. 1B is still a weak spot, as is 3B, but Urias is holding his own with the Mayor of Ding Dong City expected back in August. They need offense in the lineup, so I’m not ruling it out; just doubt it.
Shrutefarm
Buyer/trader beware of Story. Extremely high SO rate and lopsided Coors Field vs Away splits for his entire career. At least with Arenado, his road numbers were around league average…Story is well below.
bravesiowafan
Makes zero sense why any Braves fans wants to trade Freddie. David o brien of the athletic just had an article with an interview with Freddie and he fully believes that he’ll be extended. Did ppl forget he was the MVP last season? Or the Hot stretch he’s been on since may hit? Seems there are more casual non educated fans then ever.
bhambrave
How many are Braves fans, and how many are fans of other teams who want him?
RunDMC
There’s no Braves fans that “want” to trade to Freeman, but the idea that it’s a certainty that ATL extends Freeman for the rest of his career, like he’s stated he wants to do, for an organization that doesn’t do NTCs and has been gun shy to extend into a players’ years of decline (i.e. Freeman’s ages 36-40) — it’s naïve not to have some doubt. Considering they haven’t been able to agree (and if you believe Freeman’s comments that there’s been no talk of an extension), why wouldn’t you to replenish a farm system for a team on the fast track to near success?
Note, this won’t happen because the PR damage to the fragile Braves Country psyche of losing Acuna, Soroka, d’Arnaud (back in Aug?), All-Star Game, Hank Aaron…and Freeman all in the same year would cause many to burn Braves tomahawks with their tiki torches, but what if it’s best for the team’s future? Even AJC’s Mark Bradley is pondering: ajc.com/sports/mark-bradley-blog/theres-no-way-fre…
Logjammer D"Baggagecling
Does anyone think Kris Bryant would be a good fit for Atlanta to replace Acuna? Not sure who the braves have to make the cubs while. Pretty sure they’re still trying to fill the void for Josh Donaldson.
Do the braves have any bullpen arms maybe spot starters?
Jean Matrac
Wow. How biased is curb the enthusiasm?
I think what’s important is strength of remaining schedule. After all, good teams are supposed to beat inferior teams, “cupcake” schedule or not. As to the remaining schedule strength, SF is facing teams with a combined .501 winning %, 15th toughest.
Plus the Giants are 24-16 against teams with a winning record.
The Power Ranking Guru website does indeed show a fairly easy scheduled played by the Giants, with an avg. opponent rank of 16.60 (higher = easier), but it has LA with a 16.20. Not exactly a tough schedule either. Fangraphs gives SF a 91.5% chance of making the playoffs.
Apparently the Dodgers take the Giants more seriously than “curb the enthusiasm”. For their first series, LA juggled their rotation so they could get Bauer and Buehler to face them.
But this is the clincher:
“…all of their ancient players will soon break down and be injured by Sept. 1st.”
All? clearly not someone with a clear, unbiased, or well-found take. I’d be willing to bet that not all the over 30 guys will be injured come 9/1. Plus no Giants player is as old as Turner or Pujols. Ancient indeed.
I have to add though, that I also disagree with “Farce Zahidi” The Dodgers won it fair and square in 2020. Every team had the same shot. They were clearly the best team.
jimthegoat
Does Mike Trout finally request a trade if the Angels don’t make the playoffs in 2022?
Jean Matrac
I doubt it. After all it hasn’t been that long since he signed the extension.
jimthegoat
At that point it would have been 4 years since the extension.
Jean Matrac
Yeah, I missed the 2022 part.
