The A’s reinstated Mark Canha from the injured list, optioning Skye Bolt to Triple-A to make room on the roster, per the team.
Canha has been tremendous this season, slashing .255/.375/.450 in 325 plate appearances while knocking 11 home runs. Canha was on-pace for a career year before a hip strain sent him to the injured list on June 20th. He’s been out for 20 days, but with a career-high of 126 games, Canha still has the potential to post career-best marks this season, should his good health hold.
Bolt, 27, has stepped in as an injury replacement on multiple occasions for the A’s, slashing just .109/.109/.196 in 48 plate appearances. Though defense is his calling card, Bolt’s -23 wRC+ suggests he has fallen on particularly hard times at the plate. With the A’s starting outfield back together, Bolt heads back to Triple-A to try to get his bat back on track.

Skye Bolt has been struck down.

annnnd 100% of true A’s fans are rejoicing today.
Has there ever been a more hated player by the A’s fanbase while they were on the team? He was getting booed heavily by the home team during the games I saw. His tweets are one thing, but then being literally a replacement scrub and talking to the official press about how great the A’s moving to Vegas would be? Yikes. Read the room, moron. Praying for his DFA….
Cosmo2
I really hope the A’s don’t move to Vegas.
Deleted User
Why would you care? Aren’t flights to Vegas super cheap?
Cosmo2
I just like the tradition of the team being in Oakland. I like the team, I’m afraid a move to Vegas could precipitate further changes like I uniform or team name.
Deleted User
Was meant for UK, but if tradition is so important to you should they move back to Philly then?
Cosmo2
Heh, ok. I’m old, but not old enough to remember the Phillie A’s so my tradition starts with Oakland.
A'sfaninUK
A’s have bought more titles to the Bay in 10 less years than the Giants. The Giants should have moved to Tampa in 1992.
Philly A's
.. as much as I would love the A’s in Philly (not old enough to have seen them but my dad did) I don’t think Philly fan base could support 2 teams.
I think its Vegas.. the other 6 cities that the Oakland mayor spoke about are bargaining chips.
letsplay2
They’ve traditionally been a team on the move.

And not built the palace of Willie Mays Park?
Also, Elvis Andrus has been ripping for a side dish of humble pie.

@Steve Nebraska – I know youre the king troll around here, but saying TO the fans IN the city you are playing in “I hope the team moves out of YOUR city” is the most disrespectful thing I can think of right now. I hate Skye Bolt with a passion and pray for his DFA every day. Bay Area market has room for 3 MLB teams, not 1 like the Giants owners want everyone to think. Keep the A’s in Oakland AND move the Rays to San Jose.
There’s not many weather cancellations in the Bay too. Money, population, weather…the Bay is being underutilized.

You probably need to get bigger problems.
A'sfaninUK
What does that even mean?
mlb1225
It probably means you need to get bigger problems than hating Skye Bolt with a passion. Imo, overly strong feelings over a guy who you’ve probably never met simpily because he isn’t good at a sport is a bit unhealthy.
A'sfaninUK
Wrong, and please do research on the situation before coming in and wasting everyones time by being wrong: its MUCH more than that, but a player on the active roster openly pining to move the team and me complaining about it on an anonymous comments section is exactly the level of problem-addressing it deserves.
He’s also a POS person IRL. A’s front office blew it by bringing him back.
Deleted User
I did some research. He wasn’t “pining.” for anything He said that if they moved the team to LV, that they would maintain a fanbase. That’s it. A’sfan once again is just talking out his arse.
Ham Fighter
Don’t worry he’ll never make it just an average triple A rent a player at best for injuries.
Asfan0780
Which is fine for depth. He’s good defensively. But he had some chances and didn’t hit much. A’s have 4 other outfielders in AAA with barerra, Deichmann, Thomas, and Reed who may or may not be trade bait, wouldn’t be surprised
A'sfaninUK
He’s completely awful for depth, as his .100 average shows. Why on earth do you think “good depth” equals “not hitting at all”? That’s HORRIBLE depth! Good depth would please great defense and OPS over .700.
Deichmann deserved the call way more, and still does.
joeyrocafella
Charlotte A’s has a nice ring to it! Let’s gooooooooo! (I know I know, it’ll prob be Vegas, but I can dream)
A'sfaninUK
No, it will definitely be Oakland, which has the best ring to it.
jmchale40
A’s fan UK is by far and away the most sensitive person on this. Site. You by no means are allowed to have a different opinion or stance.
A few weeks ago crying about being bullied.
Sadler
How on earth can anybody call his 255/.375/.450 slash line “tremendous” ?
Cosmo2
That’s about 25% above league average. So, maybe not tremendous, but pretty good.
A'sfaninUK
2.4 WAR over 162 is 5.2 WAR, which definitely qualifies as tremendous. Canha was easily the biggest whiff of the ASG selections. His slash line isn’t all his game, but it’s a good-borderline-great one.
My question to you is why you read this
“Canha has been tremendous this season, slashing….”
and took that to mean his slash line alone is what is being called tremendous here? Whereas I read it to mean “His season has been tremendous, which included this slash line of…” – these are mutually exclusive things being talked about here, the “tremendous” part isnt referring to his slash line, but his overall season, which merely includes that slash line….along with a bunch of other factors, which you ignored.
Reading comprehension – in action!
jmchale40
Who is the bully now?
Sadler
You cannot possibly be serious with this “reading comprehension” rant. Perhaps it is simply your arrogance that is “tremendous”.
The slash line is the only evidence provided that supports the adjective in use (the 11 home runs is already accounted for in the slugging percentage).
“Tremendous” is a superlative used for the very best; like for say, Vlad Guerrero (.335/.434/.677); it is not used to describe something that is simply better than average. In the context of the article, it was used in a highly hyperbolic manner; Mark Canha has been a good player, but nothing close to tremendous.
