Bust, period.. Anybody who can’t stay in the big leagues with the Orioles should be selling insurance..

What pitch would you rather have:
a) Nolan Ryan’s fastball
b) Steve Carlton’s slider
c) Sandy Koufax’s curveball
d) Shohei Ohtani’s splitter

Mariano’s cutter, or Pedro’s changeup.

That’s what I was thinking to replace Ohtani’s splitter. With all due respect to Nolan’s FB – kids today can hit the heater a lot easier with the average being a higher velo.

If Nolan was pitching today, He’d be throwing 105 mph.

Ok AL Central feeble. However White Sox have best run differential in majors and have shown can run over opposition without Jimenez and Robert. Good pitching beats good hitting. White Sox still have both without Jimenez and Robert. Media in Chicago wrongfully bashing TLR. He is a hall of fame manager and I like their chances for a pennant.

He’s so old school at this point he’s archaic

TLR’s main point is that he disregarded (dismissed) his 3rd base coach’s instructions. He was TOLD to take the pitch. In so many ways what he did was 100% wrong. It’s not that he swung at the pitch (and hit a HR in the process) that’s the problem. He was told (signaled) to take the pitch. He chose to DISOBEY THE DIRECTIVE that was laid out for him. That is insubordination in every job. If he was given the “green light” to swing and he hit the HR, it would’ve been fine. It was a dismissive action towards the coach AND the manager who gave the order.

If you give a stupid order you shouldn’t expect it to be followed. If you’re blindly doing everything your boss says just because he says it you’re doing him, yourself, and the company a disservice if you don’t push back on bad directions.
Mercedes has a small window to maximize his earnings and every hit counts to some degree. There’s no justification for giving the take sign to a professional baseball player in that situation. A BS test of loyalty is not justification.
I thought we all learned our lesson after the Tatis homer last year. Let the dudes play.

This season may look like a few divisions are “feeble”. However I think starting next year we’re going to be seeing some strong divisions top to bottom with not very strong W-L records. When you have 3-4 teams out of 5 being very competitive the individual series are going to be more of the 2 of 3 series followed up w a 1 of 3 series the next time out. I’m mainly thinking about the NL EAST and the above mentioned AL CENTRAL.

LaRussa needs to support his young players and put them ahead of his 1980s sensibilities. Otherwise he risks losing that clubhouse abd wasting a lot of talent.
