The Angels announced that they have selected left-hander Dillon Peters and optioned righty Jaime Barria. The club outrighted Peters last winter.
The 28-year-old Peters appeared in the majors during the previous four seasons with the Marlins and Angels. Peters has recorded a 5.83 ERA/5.22 SIERA with a 16.7 percent strikeout rate and a 9.9 percent walk rate over 132 2/3 big league frames. He has also had trouble at the Triple-A level, where he has logged a 6.15 ERA in 169 2/3 innings.

This isn’t the answer for the Halos pitching issues.
birdsfan415
it’s better than Barria

No, it’s not.

Barria pitched 4 good innings in relief yesterday. Gave the Angels a chance to come back.

Good. Mariners need him. Team BA Around .200. Maybe he starts all 3 next series

“He has also had trouble at the Triple-A level…”
It’s pretty rare when a promotion to the majors fixes that… though I suppose technically, he won’t have as much trouble in Triple A while he’s in the majors…
HalosHeavenJJ
Barria showed out last night on only 40ish pitches. We have a double header tomorrow.
I don’t get this. Then again I don’t get a lot of what we do.
Angels & NL West
I like Barria and am not a fan of Peters, but this is a fresh arm for tomorrows DH. Barria would not have been available after last nights outstanding 4 inning outing.
HalosHeavenJJ
Good call.
jabronieramone
Barria wouldn’t be available to pitch for a couple days. Fresh arm
trout27
Barria won’t be ready to pitch until Friday. He will get a start within the next week. Peters will start one of the DH games tomorrow and then be sent back down for Barria. The Angels can call yo an extra player for the DH.

I like Peters, but I don’t like his stats. He has shown he is not a good starter and is barely a better reliever…. But at least he can eat some innings in blowouts before turning to position players…

Another signing ♂️

Barria was outstanding in his second outing. Hope he gets more chances. He’s averaged over 93MPH on his FB so far & he’s still just 24. I see him as a future backend 4-5 starter type, and those guys are needed too.
PiratesFan1981
How long before they let this guy walk too? Halos are a dumpster fire and I’d be seriously concerned to ink a contract with them at this point. Poor Trout will never see a World Series with the goons running that organization. It can be worse though, you could have a Pirates ownership and front office

Where’s Noe Ramirez when you need him?

The Angels have Watson, Mayers, Iglesias and dregs.
It’s sad he’s needed. Great off-season Perry.
Angels & NL West
We were all hoping Strickland could be added to the short list of quality Angels relievers, and maybe he can be in the future, but he has struggled so far.
Hopefully, Rodriguez comes back soon.

I like how Albert Pujols can’t say the word, “and”
He’ll fit in with the Doyers nicely!

Peters is another example of a pitcher we hang on to who had a few moments of decent pitching but stinks overall. He is sitting on a 5.83 career ERA and 5.85 FIP He can’t succeed in the minors so let’s bring up to the Angels to stink even more. Common sense has left us.
PutPeteinthehall
This is an option of Barria. He would not have been available for the double header. A swap for a fresh arm. Also good probability for a quick DFA of Peters very soon after he gets lit up in one of the games. Better hope he’s not put in early as Joe has no idea how to manage a pitching staff and will leave him in to “save the pen”. Result – end up losing a winnable game. Hope the call to pull Ohtani during a start comes from upstairs. Joe will find a way to screw this kids career up.

RJNarvick: “Joe has no idea how to manage a pitching staff”
You think? I think he’s done a pretty good job with the rotation (given what he has to work with) and I’m thinking a 12 man panel made up of the greatest pitching staff geniuses in the history of baseball wouldn’t be able to do much with this bullpen.
