Wow. I got 3 questions in a row answered right near the end of the chat. I think the Yankees bench Bruce and shift DJL to 1st to make room for Odor at 2nd. If Odors power goes off with that short right field porch in Yankees Stadium by the time Voit comes back, I can see the Yankees shifting DJ to third, Urshela to short and turning Torres into a utility player. I think Yankee Stadium dimensions alone will help Odor’s home run stats enough to make him a better option than either Torres or Bruce. At least Odor can hit home runs and that is nothing to sneeze at for a 2nd baseman.

Yes…..
For all their cutting edge statistical analyzation, the Yankees plan the past 3-4 years has been for all their players to hit routine fly balls to RF which are HR’s in that park. Their RH hitters all changed their stances to do that. Their games have all the baseball savvy of Sunday Morning softball.
The dampening news is that the balls are not as juiced this year. So the HR’s should go down maybe 10%. But hey, it’s not like the Yankees need to pitch, play defense, do hit-and-runs or steal bases. They’re da YANKEES! They just get veterans that can hit routine fly balls to RF.
Yankee fans should start a protest to allow them to hit balls off a tee. They deserve it. After all – Dare da YANKEES!!

Never been to yankee stadium. Does the short porch help those hit the ball harder or sa e them from missing the ball altogether?

The Rangers designated Odor with 27 mil and 2 years left on his contract and you are proposing that he should now be the Yankee starting second baseman because he can hit fly balls…..
Samuel
This is funny……
For weeks readers had to put up with posts from Yankee fans telling us how good Jay Bruce is. Now, a whole 4 games into the season, the spoiled baseball-challenged YANKEE fans want to dump the Bruce toy because rich daddy came home with an Odor toy.
So what have we?
The herculean YANKEES on their way to winning the ALE by at least 20 games (according to YANKEE posters here) just took on a player from the lowly, rebuilding Rangers, and the Rangers are paying said players salary just to get him off the team.

I can see the Yankees turning Torres into a utility player right after San Diego does Tatís & the Mets do the same w/Lindor. I’ll try to come visit you in the enchanted kingdom, unbelievable!

Gleyber Torres being displaced by Odor? My god, I haven’t laughed so hard in years. Nearly fell out of my chair. Thanks….I needed that.

As Steve was talking us down from the Akil Baddoo fanfare, he hit a game winning single to walk it off in the 10th.

IIRC, Giancarlo Stanton’s AAV for the Yankees luxury tax purposes is $22MM, based on the original $25MM AAV minus the $30MM the Marlins are paying him over the rest of the 10 years at the time of the trade.
Oror’s original AAV is $8.25MM. Does that mean that the approximately $26MM the Rangers are covering for Odor over the next 2 years make the Yankees AAV charge for him a negative $4.75MM/year?

As the original trade post said, Odor is cost free as the Yankees are paying him minimum (no charge) and the Rangers are paying the cost. The charge to the Rangers is 8.25MM this year and next.

Imagine if Akil Baddoo was a yankee… there would be numerous posts about him.

We had to wonder if his success in spring training would transfer to the regular season, and so far so good!
If he keeps hitting, he’ll become a cult hero for his name alone. Another generation of Tigers fans kids will ask the same question they asked throughout the 80’s and 90’s.
“Why are they booing him?”.
They’re BADOOOOOOOOOOOing him!
