Trade proposal:
Twins get: German Marquez and Scott Oberg
Rockies get: Larnach, Jeffers, and Duran while eating the majority of Oberg’s remaining salary
It’s not enough for the Rockies
Our #2 OF prospect, MLB ready catcher and possible future ace is way too much for the Twins to give up with Oberg’s status unknown.

He is light-years better outside of Coors than in Coors. Out of Coors he is a serious Cy Young contender, in Coors he’s German Marquez.
Another note: Pitchers have had better home splits at Target field opposed to away in recent years.
All of that leads me to believe that Marquez would not only thrive because he’d be leaving Coors, but also because he’s be going to Target.
About the trade return though, Larnach is the headliner, the big piece, the one guy that makes this trade work. I was hesitant on Jeffers because I thought he’d be starting next year, but y’all still have Garver who isn’t bad at all, plus the money y’all can spend to go get a backup catcher is nothing. Duran will easily be replaced by Marquez. Imo, Marquez would be a top 5 Cy Young pitcher each season he’d be with the Twins. That’s bold, but he’s terrific outside of Coors.
Oberg is just a sweetener. I liked the chance to take on getting a little pen help for very little.
I think this is very fair.
Bigtwinsfan it’s going to take multiple top 100 prospects to get the pieces proposed. You’d be getting two good potentially great MLB players. Your not going to get that for nothing.
so, why the heck angels are trading for cobb?
Only getting guys that don’t cost much and contracts are up after this season. Probably planning to go hard next off-season after Puljos contract is up.
I don’t like the move. But I understand why. They aren’t giving up much. Baltimore is eating over half his contract. The FA market for starting pitchers next offseason is deeper with better starters. Why over pay Bauer or a fringe starter this off-season?

Nats please sign Marwin Gonzales asap. We need additional player at 3b in case Kiebloom does not hit or field.
We already have 2 weak spots in order catcher Gomes and Alvia plus pitcher and cant have anymore.
