The Pirates are discussing second baseman/outfielder Adam Frazier in trades, tweets MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, who adds that Frazier could be the next piece subtracted as the Bucs continue their aggressive teardown. The Athletic’s Rob Biertempfel speculated this morning that another deal could be in the works as well (Twitter link).
Frazier, 29, is coming off a rough showing in 2020 that saw him bat .230/.297/.364 in 58 games. However, prior to that down season he was steadily an average or better performer both at the plate and with the glove. It’s worth noting, too, that Frazier shook off a disastrous start to the season and was trending upward in his production over the season’s second half. It’s an arbitrary endpoint, but over his final 30 games Frazier slashed .273/.368/.414 through 115 plate appearances with as many walks (13) as strikeouts (13).
Those numbers fall right in line with the career .279/.342/.420 batting line that Frazier carried into the 2020 season, and they serve as a rough approximation of what interested clubs could expect in trading for Frazier, who is still controlled for two more years. He’s set to earn $4.3MM in 2021 after avoiding arbitration earlier this winter, and the Pirates have been on a mission both to acquire as much young talent as they can in trades and, seemingly, to slash payroll to whatever extent possible. The Bucs have already traded Josh Bell, Joe Musgrove and Jameson Taillon this winter. Remarkably, that leaves Frazier and his $4.3MM salary as the team’s second-most expensive player.
While there’s good reason for clubs in need of help at second base and/or in left field to show some interest in Frazier, the Bucs are also peddling a left-handed-hitting second baseman/outfielder at a time when the free-agent market offers comparable alternatives. Granted, it’s been a bullish market for some players (e.g. Jurickson Profar, Tommy La Stella), but we’ve also seen players with very comparable production to Frazier, such as Cleveland’s Cesar Hernandez, settle for lackluster deals (one year, $5MM in Hernandez’s case).
Among the unsigned second base options still on the market are Kolten Wong, Jonathan Schoop and Marwin Gonzalez. The left field market includes Eddie Rosario, Adam Duvall, Nick Markakis and Brett Gardner, among others. Frazier’s $4.3MM salary is quite likely less than some of those players will command, but interested parties have open-market alternatives, which doesn’t help the Pirates’ cause in extracting maximum value.
At the end of the day, Frazier is still a somewhat versatile defender and solid hitter who rarely strikes out (career 13.6 percent). With two years of affordable club control remaining, he could certainly help a number of contending clubs, even if it’s more of a utility capacity than as a team’s everyday option at second base or in left field. Given the way the Pirates have operated to this point in the winter, it’d come as little surprise to see Frazier in a different uniform come Opening Day.

Cubs should get Kuhl and Frazier for a bag of peanuts. I know “depleted farm system” and all, but it won’t take anything to get these two and they will be cheap

Cherrington has demonstrated that he’s subscribing to the ‘quantity over quality’ aspect of trading, however, I think he should hold out for some popcorn and a couple of beers thrown in to the mix.
Robertowannabe
It seems like they got quality for Marte,Musgrove, Bell. it does look like a bit more quantity than quality in the Taillon trade. You have to consider that with Bell, he has defensive issues and has been very inconsistent at the plate. That kept him to one quality prospect and one average prospect in return. Taillon’s return was more quantity than overall quality but that would be caused by him coming off his 2nd TJ surgery of his career. I like the quality in the Marte and Musgrove trades.
tiredolddude
Agreed. Will be interesting to see just how many of the remaining veterans are traded and can’t see many approaching the types of prospects you write of here. Frazier, sure. Kuhl? Brault? Moran? I would think you’d get middling prospects, at best. Amazing how there is absolutely no talk about Polanco, and equally amazing that he never came close to realizing his potential. Have to also wonder if Cherrington’s prowess in assessing and trading for prospects will someday be motivated by the tried and true Nutting personnel game plan
Robertowannabe
Polanco came close but always got hurt when it looked like he was breaking out. Kept getting hurt too. Got hurt in wither ball about a month ago.. Fractured a wrist. No value at all at the moment. Supposed to be healthy for spring training and if he his and can actually stay healthy, not have any Covid-19 issues like he did to start last season missing a bunch of spring training 2.0. If he can stay healthy might be able to put up enough numbers to make him tradeable. during the season. As of now, he is a huge ? which eliminates any value that he might have.
bucincharlotte
They would give him to anyone who wants the 11.4 million dollar contract for this year which there is a team option for 2022.
Todd Kemmerer
Disagree its its quality and quanity as quantity but at lower levels with an eta 2022-2023
szielinski
This. Cherrington has not pried top 100 prospects in his trades. But some of his acquisitions might become top 100 prospects this or next season. These moves will test the development system.
CubsWin108
The Pirates Development System sucks look at a guy like Glasnow 4 ERA In Pittsburgh does not look like he is going to be anything. Then he goes to Tampa (Where they know how to develop players.) And turns into an amazing pitcher. They are can’t develop pitchers. With Hitters their better.
KermitJagger
I don’t know if I fully agree with your statement. I don’t think Frazier returns much but I do think Kuhl returns something decent. Not great, but decent.

I hope they at least try…. not looking forward to an infield with Pinder and Machin getting a lot of everyday action ugh
bighouseblue
Frazier has Cleveland written all over him! They will trade a top IF prospect for a guy that is marginal at best…aka Jordan Luplow/Jake Bauers/Mike Freeman.
greatone14
Probably won’t be Luplow considering we sent him there a few years ago. Wouldn’t hate Bauers since Colin Moran is the only real first base option on the 40 man
DTDATL
Cleveland has no use for him since they just signed Cesar Hernandez
gleybertorres25
The Indians didn’t even trade for Mike Freeman. He was signed on a minor league deal.
debubba
As stated earlier, they got a much better 2B this year for 250k more than it would have cost for Frazier. They have a stockpile of middle infielders close to being ML ready. In fact, MLB’s top 30 prospect list has listed 10 middle infielders in this list.
bighouseblue
You ALL missed my point….
I simply meant that he fits as that type of player. They don’t need him and he’s marginal at best. So….sign him. They like the platoon, mediocre type players.
legendsoh
The Indians? Worst match possible. They signed Cesar Hernandez on the cheap and got two shortstops in the Lindor deal The Pirates are not getting much for Frazier…way too many free agents available without giving up a player.
Confortoismyspiritanimal
Love the Pirates model. 1) Grow prospect into stud 2) Trade stud for 3 prospects 3) the 3 prospects turn into one stud, one replacement player, one useless 4) repeat step 1
jkoch717
This is a perfect description of their current business model. Nutting needs to sell the team.
frustratedpittsburghpiratesfan

elmedius
Maybe he had a Twitter account when he was a teenager. Everyone in the future is screwed.
oldmansteve
Step 1 is wrong. Should be:
1) Develop one great prospect
2) Get no MLB success from prospect
3) Sell for 3 prospects while ex-prospect turns into stud
4) Repeat 1
revolver
Who are these “studs” of which you speak?
debubba
This is the Indians Model too but there is a distinct difference in the two organizations. Cleveland hones in on high floor middle infield talent and high floor pitcher with specific skills sets. It has worked for them. You won’t see an Indians player in the top 10 prospect list but they churn out quality MLB players give them production. They have also built a very strong farm system by staying true to this model. If you don’t have a focused model and just use the “grab bag” approach, I think that is where these teams differ.
Orel Saxhiser
The Indians are strong defensively at catcher, too. Their current problem is scoring runs. But I agree re staying true to the model. It is their identity and an excellent approach for building a consistent winner.
YourDreamGM
Pirates did this well. No studs in 12 years though other than Cutch and he wasn’t a stud when traded. Hannrahan to Melancon to Rivero. Cole to Musgrove. Cutch to Reynolds. Even Giles to Bay. Missed on bay trade. BC changed the approach to huge upside 3 and 4 years away guys. I like it though. Someone out of the 11 prospects is going to hit. Hopefully more.
rico1957
This may have been true under NH, now have to see if it holds true for Cherington. Need quality across the board in your minor league system. Draft and International signings also huge component. If Cherington can stabilize this system team can become competitive and stay that way. Never going to be able to keep “superstar” salaried players until an equal salary cap is in place. Until then the New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco markets will be able to do what they want. I like what he has done so far, want to see how competitive the players become with one another as well. Cole had Bauer in college and Tailon in minors to feed off and it does have it’s positive returns. Just hope he does not trade all for the future, outside of Frazier now time to focus on putting the best team possible together. Despite problems last year, in September the team was becoming more fun to watch. JMHO.

I normally don’t critique grammar, but I agree with this one. Look at this sentence: “It’s worth noting, too, that Frazier shook off a disastrous start to the season and was trending upward in his production over the season’s second half.”. You have to pause right in the middle of the sentence in a very awkward fashion when you could’ve instead said: “It’s also worth noting that Frazier shook off a disastrous start to the season and was trending upward in his production over the season’s second half.”. Better.

My pet peeve the last few years is the overuse of the word “literally.” People insert it where it’s not needed as if it makes their writing more authoritative. I have seen some ridiculous usages of that word. A couple of years ago, someone wrote that the New York Knicks are “literally a dumpster fire.” Uh, I don’t think so.
Orel Saxhiser
I wish people on here would understand that resign and re-sign are two different words.

Very A’s pickup. I’ve always liked Frazier because he has those “Old school ballplayer” vibes. A solid little pickup for the A’s.
Yankee Clipper
I posited a few days before the Yankees made the trade for Tallion that they should go for Tallion and Frazier. I got yelled at because people assumed I meant include Frazier (wrong one) for Tallion – too much. Anywho, he’d be a great fit for NY because of his versatility, which they need with all the injuries they sustain on an annual basis.
LordD99
He would be a good fit. A lefty batter. The Yankees need to upgrade from Tyler Wade. DJLM’s versatility means they could work Frazier into the lineup regularly enough.
Dock_Elvis
“Old school” translates as little scrappy white dude.
its_happening
Inaccurate, Red Line.
Dock_Elvis
Yeah, well it’s over-applied then. Of course it’s accurate quite often. Just like Latin players are “toolsy”. This doesnt even seem like a newsflash. It’s David Eckstein…and name the number of super-utility gamers you like.
Rangers29
In my using of the term “old school” I didn’t attach racial connotation to it, but I know what you’re talking about. A local sports radio station here in Austin was talking about Cam Newton once. They said that people describe him as a speedy and nimble, rushing QB, when he isn’t. He’s actually quite slow, but they say that because he is a “brother”- as they put it lmao. So just because he’s black, people would infer that he was a speedy dude. Just ignorance and stereotypes at that point.
When I say old-school I mean a guy that has a little bit of contact and speed with a little bit of on-base ability and a stable defensive ability. You could throw many players into that category that aren’t white like Ben Revere, IKF, and probably the best player who fits that mold – David Fletcher. (I know, he’s white)
All I’m saying is that it’s not categorized by race.
its_happening
Juan Pierre was a little old-school and scrappy. That was who I thought of when I first read you comment.

If LOwe and/or Guzman really do well this Spring, and Jung is going to be future at 3B. Rangers might consider Burke and Apostel for Frazier and Kuhl.

Robertowannabe
Not sure if they would trade for Apostel back considering they let him go to Texas in the Kela trade.
YourDreamGM
Ultimately they want young upside that doesn’t need to be on the 40 man so they can sign a pitcher or two.
parts unknown
the whole team came off a rough showing in 2020. They’ll be even worse in 2021. Hopefully Adam gets traded to a winning culture. Maybe the bucs get some more 18 yr old prospects that get traded for more prospects . . ..
JoeBrady
While I applaud PT for recognizing the inevitable, and engaging in a full-scale tank, the timing of this is awful. The time to have traded Frazier would’ve been before free agency. The RS, Giants and Indians just signed similar players to play 2B.
They time to sell is when you have the highest number of interested parties.
YourDreamGM
Wouldn’t those teams just wait for free agency?
Baller4mlb
I feel like the Padres, Blue Jays, and Twins are going to be allll over this y’all
Mendoza Line 215
Fortunately,BC seems to try to get several players who he deems potentially usable in the future for his veteran players.
Frazier is a good utility man who is also a dependable starter in left field or second base.
BC should not resort to trade just to open up spots or reduce team salary for players like Kuhl or Frazier who can provide good service in different ways.
YourDreamGM
I feel like nobody is all over this. Similar and better players have been signed or still available. I figured he wouldn’t be traded until during the season. If BC can find a team to give him a good haul now I will bow down to his greatness. Either this news has no merit or BC really wants to move him.
mlb1225
Please, just get rid of Frazier. I don’t really care what the return is at this point. They need to clear up some middle infield space.
Monkey’s Uncle
Thats about how I feel about him. He’s a nice enough player but not someone you build around, let’s plug in the young guys and really see what they can do.
Dock_Elvis
I would take a run at 130 losses or more just for the ridiculous value of it….atleast set up the comeback story better (if Nutting would allow it.) And, here I thought nutting was usually a good thing.
Robertowannabe
I agree. Nice player but better players coming behind him will need the spot this year. I believe that if the Pirates intend to move a youngster into the middle infield mix to start the season then he moves now for whatever they can get. If the person intended to take the middle infield spot is not ready quite yet I could see them holding out to see if they they could get a little more than what is being offered now for Frazier. I do not see him playing a whole season with the Pirates.
Mendoza Line 215
It seems to me that the young promising middle infielders that the Pirates have are one to two years from even getting a cup of coffee in the ML.Remember that they did not have the 2020 season to mature as a player.I do not think it behooves any team to be as bad as the 1962 Mets as the Pirates will lose what fans they still have if they have absolutely no chance of winning any games this year.
Besides, both Newman and Tucker deserve a full time chance to see if they can blossom as good ML players.
Frazier is good enough as a utility man that they can start him in left field and move him around if they do not get any decent offers for him now.He can always be traded at the trade deadline too.
Dock_Elvis
Frazier’s contact rate has a lot of value…especially if you can use it in spots. He’d have value as a bench piece on a contender. You get a guy in scoring position and pinch hit..he’s going to assist in some runs for sure if he could hand the pinch hitting duties.
Mendoza Line 215
RL-I think that he is very valuable even for a good team because of the versatility that you and I have noted..
YourDreamGM
Not sure his contract has that much value. Better players have received 5 to 7 million or so recently. He will get a raise next year.
YourDreamGM
Rather wait till a team suffers a injury or something to move Frazier. Not guaranteed to happen but if the return now isn’t good. Hopefully it is. But I seen enough of tucker. He can play every day at triple a and try to prove he can hit.
Ghost of past pirates
To all of you armchair GMs and scouts…. The pirates are doing the right thing. Tearing down and building with youth. They got 11 prospects in three trades. For people to say they got ripped is preposterous. No one knows. But most experts agree the pirates made out.
Now for wanting to spend money on overpaid free agents is stupid for the pirates to pursue. Yes Huntington screwed up after the three playoff teams. But this is a new regime. And remember last year everyone lost money due to covid-19. So lighten up and use common sense when posting crap. Have a wonderful day
Mendoza Line 215
Ghost-The Pirates’ previous philosophy was to trade their veterans a year or two before free agency to get near ready or young ML players in return.I agreed with that as it made sense for a small market team who wants to potentially contend for a wild card every year.
Since they have had the worst ML team for 1 1/2 years, they have changed to trade basically anyone who they have with two years left for very young prospects. That also makes sense at this time for they unfortunately will not contend for anything for at least two years.
Somehow I think that people who get paid a lot of money to make these decisions are better suited to make them than the posters on this site.
I suggest to not get frustrated with the dull and ignorant negative posters here as there are many of them.As I have not noted you before appreciate the good and intelligent and knowledgeable ones as there are actually more of them.

oaklandfan22
This dude has A’s written all over him.
Rsox
A’s, Nationals, Marlins, Tigers all could be good landing spots for Frazier. Each team could probaby take Kuhl as well though he would likely be reliever/swing man (though he almost certainly could start for the Tigers)
YourDreamGM
He can start for most teams if you call 5 innings starting.
Rsox
These days that’s considered a “quality start”. Thats how coddled starting pitchers are today
BlueSkies_LA
Dodgers could be a dark horse for Frazier, with 2B open and his ability to also play OF. Arguing against, the Dodgers are in more need of a RHB.
hogansgoat
How about Frazier to the Braves for Langeliers
fathead0507
Found the Pirates fan.. Langeliers for Frazier lol.. given what you received for Bell and Tallion then Newcomb is fair
YourDreamGM
That would be the starting point.
609Collectibles
The best thing the Pirates have going for them is K’Bryan Hayes. Kid’s a stud on both sides of the ball, GG caliber at 3B. His stats were eye-popping at the end of last year when they called him up. He had some BABIP luck, but hard hit rates and plate discipline was excellent. If he can develop some more power, watch out.
Mendoza Line 215
Hayes is just the newest kid on the block.
His minor league batting results in no way reflected his results for his brief time in the ML.
Two recent such Pirate jewels were Taillon and Bell and look how they turned out.
The proof will be in the pudding.
iml12
He looks good but the pirates are gutted to the studs. They are likely going to waste a lot of productive years out of him.
Robertowannabe
After these trades there is quality that will start arriving in 2022 to go along with several players that the Pirates already had that are projected to arrive in 2022. You are correct that there is no immediate help but they only immediate help that they lost in the last couple of years would have been Glasnow and Meadows.. Even if those 2 players were still with the Bucs, not sure they would have made enough difference in the nex 2 years anyway because of who all would have been FA eligible and gone before 2022-2023.. Only Meadows most likely would still be here with Hayes. As it stands now, multiple talented players will be coming up at the very earliest the end of the coming season and then starting in 2022. The trades added to the number of talented players that should be available in the coming 2 years. It puts the Bucs in to a much better place.
YourDreamGM
I thought Gregory Polanco was the best thing the pirates have going for them. Think you are going out on the limb suggesting Hayes.
Goose
At this pace I may be starting for the Pirates this season.
If there is a full 162 this season it is just a question how far over 100 loses will the Pirates experience.
3Rivers
Considering they are ‘cleaning house’, you are really going out on a limb with your prediction.
Mendoza Line 215
They would have been 51-111 last year, although practically everyone but Stallings had a bad year.
The Covid May have overly affected this team, but I would be surprised if they do not lose at least about 100 games this year if they play 162.
That said, several teams lately have had 2-3 year long cycles of losing 100 games so the Pirates are in no worse shape than they were.
Goose
I think they are going to make a serous run at the 1962 Mets.
Mendoza Line 215
Goose-I certainly hope not.One of the main reasons that I think that they have tried to put a serviceable ML team on the field is that the ballpark will look like a ghost town even worse than the second half of 2019.
They would make about as much money as they did last year in that case.
There is nothing worse than knowing that your team has absolutely no chance to beat any of the better teams. Why even be interested?
YourDreamGM
My guess is most ball parks will look like ghost towns this year. Excellent time to be bad.
Goose
A group of us do a 3 game series every year. We did Pittsburgh and they hosted the Nationals a few years back. Great stadium to see a game. It is hard to believe in a few short years how much the Pirates have changed.
Mendoza Line 215
These players go in waves and the Cutch-Marte-Cole-Walker-Alvarez group attained a fair amount.I think that the Taillon-Polanco-Bell-Frazier-Vasquez group had real promise too but sometimes things just do not work out for many different reasons. All a GM can do is their best to maximize the chance that it does.
The fact that NH made the Archer trade and was not able to get more from the Cole trade and the ennui of management since they were extended doomed the Pirates to go downhill rather than up.The young team could not gel under new management and the Covid restrictions.Hopefully the latter does not stall the progress of the young players to any great extent.
Goose
No man, I really suck at baseball. I don’t think I have a shot at starting. 🙂
Mendoza Line 215
Goose-That is too bad. I was hoping that your last name was Gossage and,if so,even in your 60’s you could have closed for the Pirates.
Robertowannabe
You think Hanrahan might be able to toss couple innings this inning? Can come over on off days from Altoona 🙂
Mendoza Line 215
As long as he has recovered from his arm injuries, sure, why not!
I doubt BC would want him or Gossage, though, because they would not fit the youth movement.

Wow, so surprised pirates fans are so upset about the team breaking up the Juggernaut team of Tallion, Archer, Musgrove,Kuhl, T.Williams, Brault. J.Bell, A.Frazier,G.Polonco, Rich Rod, Stratton.
Mendoza Line 215
Actually that is a pretty good team if they had all been healthy and lived up to their projections.
It is wonderful to have enthusiasm for the young players but unfortunately quite often and for whatever reasons the team that they form is often not nearly as good as it could have been.
Hopefully, this new upcoming version will be closer to the McCutcheon team model for the Pirates. They certainly need such a team to infuse real excitement in the team like was there during the 2013,14,and 15 playoff years.
Robertowannabe
Many of us are not upset since Cherrington is not trading them for low ceiling MLB ready guys like NH did. He is going for younger, higher upside prospects that offer more options for higher quality MLB players for a potentially longer time frame. It has been a coupld of good prospects make it to the bigs but no other options if they do not work out nor any options that would bring back a quality MLB piece to fill a hole to make the core better. With the trades that NH made, he did not increase the number of prospects with talent for long term growth. This is a different tack than NH used and for many of us it is refreshing as it looks like he is using what short term talent exists that will be gone due to FA anyway in order to gain long term continued talent growth. None of the guys, no matter the talent level besides maybe Taillon, would have stayed once FA hit. Bell might have been at least a target of an extension especially if he would not have tailed off the end of 2019 and had a horrible 2020 but with Boras as his agent it would have been difficult to keep him from hitting the FA market. No one else was worth and extension so why not trade to build the biggest talent base that you can?
Mendoza Line 215
In another post I said that I agreed with NH method,But I also agree with current BC method inasmuch as the Pirates for whatever reasons have become the worst team in baseball for the last 1 1/2 years.
BC almost certainly is attuned to the abilities of the young players as his scouting and development teams could very well be better than those previous.,which were probably average. That was what mired the Pirates in mediocrity since the three “glory” years..It wasn’t NH trades,as almost all since his early years were very good to excellent. It wasn’t his free agent signings,as although few were almost always good.It wasn’t his ML coaching,as Hurdle for six years and Searage with Benedict’s help, worked wonders for the Pirates. They had the second best record in baseball for that three year period so they must have done something right.I think, though, what NH lacked, and BC may very well have,is the ability to select good young players and teach them properly. The Pirates seemed to miss out on that at the ML level. The Cardinals and the Dodgers, along with several others, have these types of organizations. The small market teams must have that type of organization to compete to have a chance to win championships.
The problem is several of the wealthy organizations not only have that, they also have the money to take extreme chances with very high priced signings.
I think that NH tried and if the Cardinals had not been so great, who knows, the Pirates may not be the last remaining team(other than the two year old Mariners) to not have reached the WS..Their method ,and they certainly did have a designed method, may have been approved by a lot more Pirate fans in hindsight then.
And they are not the only small market team who loses impending high priced free agents.Ask the Indians how that goes.
YourDreamGM
I loved Lindor. What a face for your franchise. But to pay him 350 million or whatever to keep him? I am glad he is gone and love the return. Pirates haven’t lost such a player in a long time. Cole was a #3 in pittsburgh. Cutch was a average corner outfielder. Bell a average dh. Have to go back to Bonds. Way people hate him guess he wasn’t a big loss either.
Mendoza Line 215
Bonds was a great player, even without any additional help, but what I remember most about him was his batting average in the playoffs and his candy arm in trying to throw Sid Bream out at the plate.
YourDreamGM
NH did a terrific job of walking the line between current and future contention. ( Except that time he traded 3 of his best prospects for a back end starter ) Where do you think Thomas and Cruz came from. Reynolds for a rapidly declining Cutch, sign me up for that. Musgrove had the talent to pitch to a mid 3 era from the beginning. Pirates simply failed to get those results.

Frasier has no trade value.
Alot of players comparable to fraizer, and cost less.
So why would anyone trade when there are alot of veteran journeyman that could do the job?
Robertowannabe
depends on what the journeymen are demanding to sign.. Adam Frazier costs $4.3million this season and had team control for 2 seasons. You are right if a journeyman will take less and if has equal or better ability.. Depends upon what the buyer is looking for.

He has value, just not much. If I wanted a 2b I would have definitely beat Cleveland’s offer. If I wanted utility I would have paid the 7 or 8 on some other guys. But some gm would rather part with a low a prospect or international kid. I don’t know why but BC is fantastic and I am ready to worship his greatness. Much respect Ben.
Cap & Crunch
2b market is so over saturated that Frazier at 4.3 mill isnt even a bargain –
Not really the players fault but theres just not much surplus value to garner much coming back to Pitt- Maybe 1 (20-30) range prospect +lottery ticket

If BC gets that he is gone. Especially if they don’t need to be rostered.

Good talk Pirate fans. My favorite fan base to converse with. Will be back later or hopefully to the Frazier trade page!

lets put a 2 year gold glove candidate in the outfield!
Baring injury or emergence of another player, keeping him at second is the best bet… well or if he falls apart.
He’s not going to bring in a ton but i can see a fringe 45-50 type, though not a top 100 prospect guy..
Fraizer, Polanco and 4M for Int Bonus pool and a ptbnl would be a huge win for Ben lol.. almost sarcasm but if it happened.. i don’t think i’d be overly upset.. other than missing the players i’ve grown used too.

Joe-If they do not trade Frazier they need to move him to left field and keep him at leadoff.Yes,he has worked very hard to become a fairly good second basemen but that is irrelevant at this point as the Pirates will not get much for him now as there are several other equivalent second base free agents who would make comparable salaries.
Do you really think that the Pirates are trying to win this year?!!!!
Tucker and Newman form two of the latest group of phenoms but they are both good enough to deserve an extended trial at their prime positions. They should not be viewed as utilitymen at this time in their careers. That bs may have ruined Kingery with the Phillies.
Sometimes one has to think outside of the box.

imagine the salary flexibility for pirates and nutting wallett if frazier is traded
