According to NBC Sports Chicago website, “the White Sox ‘have shown no interest’ in Nelson Cruz” (that is the actual headline). So if there is any truth to what Bob Nightengale tweeted, it’s a definite no for the Boomstick to the Sox rumors.
Nightengale also tweeted that “The #WhiteSox have little wiggle room in their budget after spending $54 million on closer Liam Hendriks.” 7:01 pm Jan 27, 2021 (quoted verbatim from his tweet).
Now I don’t know how reliable Bob Nightengale is, so I suppose there’s still a chance the Sox make more moves, and one of them includes going after Boomstick, but I have to doubt it. And that’s fine, I think they’re set for OD. Put Collins or Mercedes at DH until Vaughn makes it up. Also, put Lopez as the #5 until Kopech is ready for that role. I’m guessing both guys are up in April or May (maybe June for Vaughn).
Just my thoughts. It’s not like I have inside info or I’m on Hahn’s speed dial.
Agree on Collins/Mercedes (or Zavala/veteran catcher in place of Mercedes). I think Collins will show this year, if allowed to, that he is a major league hitter, and I’d love to see him get a chance.
This team definitely does not need another rh bat for dh. Their deficiency vs rhp last year screams for another lh bat in the lineup. Looks to me that Hahn might let this lineup play as is til the mid season break and add then.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the chats, and this isn’t limited to Connor, but there are too questions that get selected, but not really answered. For example there was this question about where Pederson would end up:
“I’ve always liked the Cardinals as a fit, but they’re apparently in “we’re only going to sign Waino and/or Molina” mode.”
So, instead of an educated guess as to where he would sign, we get an answer, despite the fit, as to where he probably won’t sign. I didn’t ask the question BTW.
Connor : Angels should look into reuniting Hendricks with Maddon if made available by Cubs. What was in the bottle you were drinking from?? If Kyle does not hate Joe I’ll be amazed. Kyle was on his way to winning game seven going at least seven when Joe pulled him one man from the win. Chapman might be a POS but he would probably beat the crap out of Joe before playing for him again. He said he could not play on a team he managed – was improperly used. If you’re not named Anthony Rizzo and played for Joe you probably hate him. Yes I know Quintana signed with the Angels. Another guy that Maddon had no idea when to pull or leave in the game. SMH. Very poor decision maker. Most overrated manager in the game.
