Here are Tuesday’s minor moves from around the game…
- The Giants agreed to a minor league deal and Spring Training invite with utilityman Arismendy Alcantara, reports Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area. Once considered to be among baseball’s top 100 prospects, the former Cubs prospect hasn’t appeared in the Majors since 2017. The 29-year-old Alcantara has appeared in 167 MLB games, splitting time between the Cubs, A’s and Reds, but he has just a .189/.285/.315 batting line to show for it. Alcantara has experience at second base, shortstop, third base and all three outfield spots, and he’s a career .273/.326/.468 hitter in parts of four Triple-A seasons.
Ya'll a bunch of salty crybabies
Odd year……won’t make a difference.

He had a decent year in 2019 in Syracuse in a lineup with Danny Espinosa, Ruben Tejada, Aaron Altherr, Rajai Davis and Luis Guillorme. All very much the same type of players. A Good AAAA type player. Depth move. Never hurts to have that to rely on.

Wow, that is an interesting lineup of for MLB veterans.

What about Dilson Herrera? He raked in that lineup!

Apparently, if you’re a former member of the Reds, the Giants have a spot for you

Cub fans, help me out. If I remember correctly, Alcantara was the first player of the Cubs’ ballyhooed minor league system to be called up in the Epstein era to revitalize the rebuilding of the major league roster, although Alcantara, like Baez, was actually signed by the Hendry administration. Is that right????

Cubs live rent free in white sox fans heads.

Yes, Arismendy, Hendricks, Javy, and Soler made their debuts in 2014.
Just Contreras and Baez were Hendry signings from the 2016 team.
