Why are so many of the ball players going to Japan and overseas to play baseball this season?
its no more them usual. guys just going early probably because there is more and morw demand for these limited spots. and its probably also better coverage and less other news happening that makes it seem like more.
The minors are going to be contracted and there will be a flood of laid off baseball players looking for jobs. They’re beating the rush.
none of the guys signing over there fit that description. most of them are AAAA guys.
Stars aren’t going but fringe MLers in their prime should definitely take advantage of any questions to MLB having fans and/or starting on time, knowing it’d inevitably affect their pay and/or development time.
Though I don’t have the numbers, it’d be interesting to know if there’s been an uptick in Americans signing in Asia since the start of the pandemic.

Castillo, Gray, Moustakas and Akiyama for Martin, Groshans and Manoah.
I…don’t hate that deal? I’m sure Blue Jays fans will call it an overpay though. Castillo isn’t going to come cheap and that deal makes them certified contenders.
It’s not an overpay. I’d rather keep Akiyama and Gray out of the deal, and replace Martin with Kirk or Jansen.

Posey is not a HOF missed 3 years so far won’ have stats. He was good for 3-4 years and that’s all.
