someone asked about Adell for Flaherty.. I like that start. maybe Angels add Jordyn Adams, a couple prospects in the 20-30 zone ? you still have Marsh and now a TRUE ace!
RunDMC
You would like that start, you’re not a Cards fan. Without a horse in the race, they’d be insane to trade Flaherty for a package where Adell was the headliner.

Is Jack Flaherty a “true ace”?
Don’t get me wrong he is very good, but he was only been great for the last half of 2019. He was good but not great in 2018, and subpar in 2020.
I think Flaherty could be an ace, I’m just saying he needs to do it longer then half a season to be considered a TRUE ace.
braves25
And to be honest the first half of 2019 he was not very good. Then he went on a tear after the all-star break in 2019 and yes he put up historic numbers down the stretch of 2019, but does that make him an ace?
californiaangels
ok, I might have gone a little far on true ace. but other then numbers, hes put up innings and works deep, to me that’s a huge quality of an Ace so I weighed that heavy . I would still offer Adell + multiple prospects for him(anyone not Marsh and Detmers)
braves25
I think Flaherty has the potential to be an ace. I’m just not ready to crown him an ace yet…as a Braves fan I feel the same way about Fried. The writing is on the wall but not ready to crown him as an ace just yet.

What do you all think about an Adell for Snell framework?
braves25
I really don’t think the Angel’s are going to trade Adell, although if they could land Snell they should definitely consider it.
jk
In the past, the Rays and Marlins have been open to the idea to trade from their pitching strength. Makes sense to me for the Rays and angels to match up.
angelsfan4life
For the Angels to get Snell, the Rays will want a catching prospect, a first base prospect. Which the Angels have neither. The Rays outfield is over crowded already. The Angels would be better off calling the Pirates than the Reys.

Congrats on the wedding, Steve. Your formula for the majority of questions about a Snell trade also perfectly describes so many trade offers in FLB.

What is next for the Rangers? Do they want to compete? Are they selling off pieces for a run in 2-3 years? What is the plan with Gallo? What would a trade package for him look like?
Rangers29
I’m apparently “one of the few” people who think we can compete in 22′. I look at the timelines of players like Huff and Jung along with maybe a Kim signing, and I think that would set our offense up for 22′. As for pitching, Dunning just helped a ton. Him and Cody should be full throttle by 22′, so those 2 spots in the rotation will be set. Sign some free agent pitchers this off-season and next, and we will probably be well enough off to push for a WC in 22′.
Not to mention that Andrus and Odor’s contract come completely off the books in after 22′. That will bring our expenditures down to almost nothing, letting us extend Gallo. Our farm should be flourishing come the next minor-league season with guys like Acuna (yes, Acuna’s brother), Acosta, and Foscue climbing up prospect boards along with the depth we have beyond them.
Plan of action? Get rid of Odor now, sign Kim, sign a starter like Walker to multiple years, and then go after some bounce back guys for the pen like Jose Urena. Then we can think about a Gallo extension, but not right now. Boras wouldn’t like an extension after his last season.

For another team to take on Odor, a significant amount of money is going to have to go with him. Low OBP guys seem to be more and more widely viewed as anvils to a team’s offense.
The Andrus and Odor contracts should have contributed to a JD demotion.
Rangers29
People have gotten on to me for saying “trading Odor” before, and I trust me, I think we should release him, but that’s not to say that we shouldn’t explore his market before making that decision. If the Eovaldi idea was still out there, we should do that, but if not, release him.
paddyo furnichuh
But I like your idea on Walker and Urena. The new park seems like a great place for pitchers to bounce back.
