What’s the point of asking a question when it doesn’t even get posted.
You realize who ever is doing the chat, is filtering through hundreds of questions.
Yet the ridiculous “rumored Trout to Mets” question made the cut.
Good for a laugh I suppose.
Mark likes to answer the occasional odd ball questions. It makes his
chats extra entertaining…..
I am amazed at what makes the cut.
What is that? A statement or a question?
Maybe you need to ask better questions.
I am amazed at what makes the cut.
The same as asking out a supermodel. You won’t win if you don’t play. The astute Lloyd Christmas said it best when he said, “so you’re saying there’s a chance…”.
Ask a more interesting question
My teams 3 crappy prospects + PTBNL + future considerations + CA$H for your teams star player… who says no?
Lol those kill me every time.
You mean the Dodgers won’t trade Mookie Betts to the Orioles for Chris Davis, Alex Cobb, Chance Cisco and their 15th round pick in next years draft?
I like the Gavin Lux, Dustin May, Tony Gonsolin, and Kiebert Ruiz for Josh Hader type questions…. like the Brewers would ever accept that offer…
I am amazed at what makes the cut.
You must be. You’ve said that, like, six times.
You need to ask riveting questions like, “do you like ketchup?”
Now Mark is banned from visiting Chicago
I’ll ask my question here than! What does the realistic trade package look like for Cincinnati to land Trevor story?
They wrote about it last month. As for specific players, nobody really knows what the Reds are willing to give, and what the Rockies will accept. It is probably not spare parts.
What is this site afraid of? Rumors?
Huh? I don’t understand. Have the Reds offered anyone for Trevor Story? That would be a rumor.
Check out a baseball trade rumor site. This place doesn’t report on those types of things.
I do know Mark likes ketchup.
There’s a million guys out that will say make this trade. But, none of those trades will ever happen. Because teams are never interested in what some random dude made up. I’m sure there is a site out there that will trade Trevor Story for a case of Ketchup.
Nothing since the Reds look determined to slash payroll. This team is not in a contention type mode, it’s in the slash payroll/commitments.
I guess we need to be happy there aren’t more questions about Clint Eastwood, or what your favorite color is!
If Eastwood directed a “few great movies”, he’s a great director
I’ve posted questions multiple times in these chats and NEVER have you answered my questions. Super lame.
Over the years I’ve probably asked about 40 or so questions and gotten maybe 10 or so answered. They have literally 100s of questions. You need to post short but interesting questions that will appeal to multiple readers in order to increase your odds of getting chosen.
I am amazed at what makes the cut.
Start your own site lol
“super lame” –maybe that’s what Mark says when he reads your questions and decides not to waste his time on them.
Why do people on this site think it is so easy to trade guys like Bryce Harper who 1. Have full NTC’s and 2. They literally just outbid everyone else to sign?
WheErE DoES mIKE TroUt GeT TReaded.
Anywhere but the r@nGeR$!
At least there would be actual interest in Trout if the Angels did try to trade him. It’s not like Bryce Harper or Manny Machado.
Actually there’d be just as much, and maybe even more interest, in Harper or Machado. Each are younger, owed less money, and have less wear and tear on their bodies.
@Tom they’re only one year younger and not nearly as productive
The question I thought was unnecessary, but good for a laugh was the one asking if Braun was a first ballot HOFer!
Thanks for the chat session!
Who had questions answered???
I asked why the site never has any Blue Jays rumors…still waiting to hear back.
I guess you are being facetious. Most rumors are worthless. They never happen.
Agreed.
there were like 3-4 blue jays questions answered in the chat today. quit whining.
mlbtraderumors.com/toronto-blue-jays
Thanks
What do you mean?? It seems like lately all that’s been on has been Blue Jays and Mets rumors..lol
It was sarcasm
Right!
They have had plenty this off-season what are you talking about?
I had a question that didn’t get answered: If I write an independent article, can I share it with the commenters of MLBTR or will it be seen as self promotion and be taken down? I don’t want to take away from MLBTR’s work so I just wanted to ask before I put anything I wrote in the comments. BTW, this isn’t a “look at me” thing, this is just to share my thoughts and findings through an article.
I doubt they’d want independent articles posted on the site…maybe submit an application when they post looking for writers?
No, this is really just something I want to do as a challenge to try and see if I can predict some things in the game like predicting breakout players in 2021 (what I am writing right now). I want to do front office work as a career, so getting articles out that showcase my knowledge is what I do it for, along with just having fun with it and hopefully letting others enjoy it.
Nothing against MLBTR here, but I just wouldn’t want to write for a set site right now where I have deadlines and such. I make better stuff when I take longer on it which I know I wouldn’t have working for a business like this.
You can do it. If you already have something in mind I would just go ahead and do it. If you post it right here I will read it.
It’s not done yet, in fact it’s my first one though I want it to be a great read, so I’m taking my time.
@Rangers29 FOR MLBTR, Just find the best article that fits it, like a projections article, and then post it..
Then, you’ll be alot less likely to have it deleted..
But honestly if you want it seen by more people, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND joining an SB Nation blog, and posting it there. They have a fan section where us common folk can post anything on any subject, and I think your odds of more people seeing it would be GREATLY INCREASED!!
This way your article will also stay up, and you can even attach a poll if you so choose. It will remain relevant as long as people continue to comment on it, etc. it’ll stay in the first page of articles..
And just an fyi, you need to join the blog first, and then I believe you can start commenting and posting after a 24-48 hour wait period..
I just started a local Texas Rangers blog last week, and that’s what gave me the idea to write this was the fansection there. That’s where I’m posting it in the first place.
@Rangers29 Good for you. Lots of people talk about doing something. But very few do. Maybe you can submit a sample your writing, and a link to, to the powers that be here. They regularly have link round ups. That seems like a reasonable request. But, it sounds like you are well on your way. All positivity to you. I hope a year from now; we are reading your stuff here, or similar.
You mean Rangers fans can read?!?? Just kidding buddy, good on ya! Post and I will read, too. Cheers
It’s worth asking. If not, depending on the type of article you’ve written: Fangraphs has a community section. Good luck.
I disagree with Kanucklehead. I think you will be just fine if you post it. I would just try to make sure it is in regular commenters format if at all possible. I like to write sometimes too so I support that kind of stuff and I would definitely read and comment on your article. You may occasionally get some commenters who complain that you are making it too long but you should just ignore those. They don’t have to read it and it’s not like scrolling down is difficult. If all else fails you could also always just post a link if you have it somewhere on the web. As far as i know there is no character limit on the comment section so you can write an article whenever you want.
I’m writing it in SB Nation’s fanpost section, so there’d be a link.
I will look into the fangraphs community section though @elmedlus. I’d like to get it as many places as possible.
Why me? I didn’t say don’t do it, just said it’s doubtful they’d want that.
@kanucklehead You Canadians are quite devious…Ever see the ‘South Park’ episodes where they take on Canadians?
@Howie415 Honestly, I haven’t watched South Park in years….a recurring “blame the Canadians” theme I’ll assume. Were actually quite wonderful, accept us…won’t you?
Go for it! I will read it as you always make insightful comments…..
Ask them. If you have something to say, they would probably do it. But, they probably have limited staff, and don’t want to get over loaded.
It is amazing as to what makes the cut!
heard ya the first 3 times.
Strike 5, Lefty! Yeerrr outta here!
Do you guys think this will be another offseason where we hear “collusion” complaints from the MLBPA?
Teams have been incredibly conservative so far.
That was stupid to begin with, so I hope not.
How about 1 chat a week for anything non-baseball related?
It is amazing as to what even makes the cut.
It’s really not. There have been polls asking if readers want random stuff mixed in etc. overwhelming yes
It’s amazing how bent out of shape you are about a free chat
MLB has become a total disaster. The FA offseason gets slower every year and not just because of Coivd-19. WELL OVER a month so far and other than the Braves signing 2 veteran SP pretty much NOTHING. Red Sox spent 2020 running out an AAAA squad for the year to reset their cap but have not spent a dime on a single decent FA this offseason. PS I could care less if they even play in 2021 and I know I am not alone in that thinking
Wait, who likes relish? Has anyone asked about relish? I dont remember the last time I had relish. Maybe when I was a kid.
Ya know it’s a slow off-season when we’re eating condiment answers to the hot questions…
