I cannot see the Cubs trading both Bryant and Schwarber while their collective values are so low. I can see them trading one or the other but not both.
If Epstein/Hoyer want to see the max return they would consider trading Rizzo. There are a handful of teams who could use a lefty hitting, gold glove first baseman and it would clear 14.5 a cap space and 16.5 of payroll. Then slidding KB over to first and hoping for a rebound effort (assuming the Cubs for some reason do not wish to re-sign/extend Riz)
I do not see much of a market for Bryant and his 18 plus million dollar salary. Of course a handful of team would take him at 18 million but are teams going to pony up talent AND pay 18 million?
Schwarber I believe would bring more back in return for a sly team like the Rays who look at his advanced stats and see value there. Good contact, barrel and exit velocity, lots of bad luck.
I cannot imagine wants to leave another city hiding in a gorilla suit after breaking a 100 year long curse… so I expect him to tweak the roster and hope for the best. I don’t see them going status pro quo nor do I expect the team to allow Epstein (short of an extension) to oversee a fire sale. Crazy to possibly see so many players leaving the same year as their President of Baseball ops.

Status quo or quid pro quo? Jumbling two different phrases there… just fyi.

I don’t think the players that had a rough 60 game season will be viewed as anything too detrimental to their value, especially for you guys.
Bryant’s value will be down due to being a rental (he’s in his final year, right?)

I can see the Jays going after Free agent 25 year old S. Korean 3rd baseman Ha-Seong Kim this offseason, as well as pursuing Bauer and Springer. That would be a nice haul while also signing Walker!

“Whit Merrifield to Miami for Jesus Sanchez and Nasim Nunez?”
Hilarious!!

I think it is hilarious that some Yankee fans think that Gary Sanchez will get them pitching. Who is going to want a catcher that can’t catch and can’t hit?
