Will Ozuna’s contract surpass Donaldson’s in years and/or total dollars (inc. options)?
drew ford
No

If he does, he’s gonna have to get at least a 5 year deal. I don’t know if we see that one offseason after everyone wasn’t very interested+ COVID pandemic
I could be totally wrong. But I don’t see Ozuna getting more than… 3 years? If it’s 4, lower AAV imo. He doesn’t have the track record of Donaldson+ entering a tougher market
His plus is no QO. But still.. I’ll be surprised with everything considered

The marine layer makes it harder to hit home runs at night at Dodger stadium, if the Dodgers played the majority of their games at noon they’d be hitting an insane amount of home runs.

Unlucky that is was 100+ all week during the games. This weekend, it’s been overcast even inland, and likely would be much more straight up baseball games
And putting only day games in CA, knowing how hot it’s been all year? That’s a bad call from MLB..

I believe everyone is underestimating the braves and the moves they can make. They have Greene, Melancon, Hamels, Ozuna, Flowers, and Markakis coming off the books that I know of off the top of my head. It’s unlikely they retain Folty either. That’s around 70 mil to put towards bringing back Ozuna and bringing in some more pitchers.

Small detail, maybe it helps in trivia one day: it’s 81 games on the road, AJR. Even split to the 162.

You think the Yankees pick up 1 or 2 starting pitchers

Premium free agent starters typically want long contracts. That is a very risky/bad way to spend money.

Cubs fans still dreaming about moving Darvish’s and Heyward’s contracts. Don’t sign players to long contracts in the first place and Heyward never did anything to justify a long contract.
James1955
The Braves do well taking a chance of players having bad years, with a 1 year contract. Then Braves fans rake the Braves through the coals for not giving them a long contact and then they are a bust. Braves fans have the mistaken belief that spending a lot of money on a player always works out.

The highlight of that chat was the imagery of Houston players storming the field to the nWo theme

There was a question re. would the Tigers be ready to spend big this off season…or wait. I am of the opinion that this would be a good year to get a pitcher who can anchor your staff for the next 5 years, when the Tigers should start competing (thinking ’21 will still be growing pains) but by ’22 they could get in the hunt and by ’23 they might be a real “contendah”. FA spending will be down. The available FA’s is down as well. Good time to pounce?
I know Trevor Bauer keeps saying 1 yr. deals….1 yr. deals….but I think he’s just being shrewd. Would the Tigers be stupid to offer 6 yrs/$180 mil.? Would he take it?
Makes him the “ace” through 2027. Surely the Tigers will be contending by then. In the next 2-3 years the Tigers could have a rotation of Bauer, Mize, Skubal, Manning and any of Turnbull, Boyd, Norris, Fulmer. And we’re not even discussing Wentz, Faedo, Perez, Burrows, and others that I can’t remember right now.

IMHO, Bauer is the least likely front line starter to end up with elbow, shoulder problems. He has an insane training process that he’s been following since he was a teenager. To me, he’s a Nolan Ryan/Justin Verlander type. He’s a better version of a Rick Porcello. These guys just don’t go down. (Unless they’re playing around with their drone model.)
I believe Bauer is an elite, 30 starts/yr. front line starter for the rest of his career.
Plus, he’s just crazy enough to always want to go out there and want to beat your brains out.
There is no mail it inniness to Trevor Bauer.
