Maybe Next Year
Is there any real possibility the Angels choose another GM besides Dombrowski?
fox471 Dave
If it were me, I would go with Ned Colletti. He did an excellent job with the Dodgers under very bizarre circumstances.
Maybe Next Year
I’m just worried the job is already closed if Dombrowski expresses interest. He has destroyed farm systems and the Angels have one of the poorest systems still. I hope the Angels are giving everyone a fair chance in their search for a GM.

I understand their need to clear salary, but Eppler giving up a first-round pick like Will Wilson simply for someone taking Cozart was an odd move for a team with as weak a farm system as LA.
As a Giants fan, I’m not complaining, but it was head-scratching.

Not sure how excellent the job was there. Some pretty horrific free agent signings there – Andruw Jones, Juan Pierre, Jason Schmidt, Brandon League, Ethier extension, etc.

Is there a set time that these happen?

Two Padres questions… for the most exciting team in baseball currently.

Making Tony Gonsolin the closer… so the Dodgers would need to find another 5-6 innings out of a less reliable starter? He’s arguably their 3 right now, and I trust him more than May and Urias. But Gonsolin as the 9th inning guy would mean bullpen game or an Alex Wood/Dennis Santana/Victor Gonzalez piggybacking game, rather than using Gonzalez as a 1+ inning bridge.
Jansen is a concern, no doubt. But he’s a “single inning with the lead or tied” concern, whereas the next two series will be played with no off days, and ideally you’d want to go with a stellar 5 man rotation if you have it. And the Dodgers do have one. This format puts an emphasis on getting innings out of starters, otherwise even with the 3 batter minimum, you could end up burning through your bullpen pretty quick.

Imo, it’s more likely LAD does what they did in G1, and piggy back May/Gonsolin after Buehler (if length isn’t there), or even with each other in G3
They have plenty of closing options, Treinen, Graterol, Kenley of course.
Gonsolin loses value as a 1 inning guy, bc he can go through a lineup at least 1x and really 2x successfully. Giving him only the 9th is short sighted imo

Is it me or does Mark dodge a ton of questions with ridiculous rhetorical questions? I also feel he has a bias for certain teams as commentor brownisback alluded to. Someone bring back Jeff’s Chat Transcripts!
JustCheckingIn
Or he focused on teams that are in their offseason and less so on playoff teams.. like they do every year, because there’s a lot more speculation about teams already discussing next years roster
And this is a rumor website… you can only speculate if injured guys are making the roster so many times

Did Clevinger throw a bullpen today? Or did Mark P misspeak (mistype)? The Mlbtr article says he and Lamet played catch, but have not yet thrown a bullpen. Can someone please clarify?
beersy
Yes, Clevinger threw on Sunday. Morosi was on MLB Network and had a video of him throwing one pitch, getting ready to throw another and then the video went to Morosi in his office. Not sure how things went or how he’ll feel today, but Clevinger seems to be trying to get back on the mound.

Every chat this offseason will have at least one Lindor trade question.
