The latest minor moves from around baseball…
- The Rockies have outrighted RHP Joe Harvey, per a team announcement. This is the second offseason in a row that Colorado has outrighted Harvey, whom the club acquired from the Yankees prior to the 2019 trade deadline. The 28-year-old owns a 2.93 ERA with 11.0 K/9 against 4.1 BB/9 over 89 innings in Triple-A ball, but he hasn’t seen a significant amount of action in the majors so far. Through 21 1/3 innings as a Yankee and Rockie, Harvey has notched a 4.22 ERA/5.51 FIP with 8.02 K/9, 5.48 BB/9 and a 44.4 percent groundball rate. Harvey threw just three innings in 2020, though he didn’t allow a run or a walk in that stretch.

Kind of weird he hasnt gotten more of a shot in the majors. He’s put up some exceptional numbers through the minors (though based on limited IPs seems he may have been slowed by injuries at times) still he’s posted impressive ERAs and solid K/9 numbers… seems like a guy who could potentially help a bullpen needy team… maybe a rule-5 pick in the upcoming draft? Though he’s a bit older than the typical RP drafted in the rule-5 draft

those arent bad numbers

Yeah I agree with the previous comments. It’s pretty surprising that a team like the Rockies, which is always in need of good pitching, hasn’t given this guy more of a chance. Those minor league numbers are pretty impressive, though his walk rate may be a problem.

Hope he does better next year, this guy’s dad is a legend lol

After his 3 good outings upon being called up in 2020, Harvey went on the IL in August with an “elbow sprain”. So his health might have been a factor in the Rockies letting him go.
