Wrapping up some minor moves from around the game…
- The Mets outrighted Hunter Strickland to their alternate training site, the team announced. Strickland was designated for assignment earlier this week and cleared waivers, then accepted the outright assignment. This is the second time the veteran hurler has been outrighted this season. After signing a minors contract with the Mets in June, Strickland has an 8.10 ERA over 3 1/3 innings with the team.
- In another Mets move, the Amazins released right-hander Pedro Payano, as per the MLB.com transactions page. Payano made his Major League debut in 2019, posting a 5.73 ERA over 22 innings for the Rangers before signing a minor league deal with the Mets over the offseason. The New York-born Payano, however, didn’t see any big league action for his hometown team in 2020. Payano is a veteran of eight seasons in the Rangers organization, posting a 3.68 ERA, 2.46 K/BB rate, and 8.2 K/9 over 686 1/3 minor league innings (starting 125 of 142 games).
- The Yankees released righty Adonis Rosa, the team announced. Rosa had been pitching at the Yankees’ alternate training site. Signing with the Yankees as a 19-year-old in 2013, Rosa has a 3.35 ERA, 3.79 K/BB rate, and 7.8 K/9 over 515 1/3 career minor league innings, starting 74 of his 114 career games in New York’s farm system. Rosa’s MLB resume consists of a single game, a two-inning appearance on August 13, 2019.

Just a comment… has anyone noticed the lack of comments on these threads? You could always count on having up to 50… 75 comments on any thread… a thread talking about the Yankees was easily 200 plus. Now, it’s lucky to have a dozen comments on any thread. Right now, there are multiple threads with zero comments. I have never seen that before.
I have been coming here for years (2015?) and I seldom posted. I would get on first thing in the morning and click every thread and read every article. I would check out Baseball Reference on almost every player mentioned. I was very dedicated to this site. At work, I would log on at lunch break and see what was new. Click every new article. read the comments. When I got home and settled, I would get back on and I would usually make comments and join chats. I was on here for hours. My wife would come in and make a comment about me spending so much time on here.
Now, I will go days without opening this site. I thought to myself, Why? Is it Covid? Is it the delay in the season?
No… Covid has given me more time to be on here. I was just as active for a while… maybe more comments made because I wasn’t at work. Was it the delay in the season? Oh no, definitely not. I wanted to know the new rules… the new playoff system… where and when would the games begin. I was definitely more interested in what was going on.
The main reason I stepped away… is because the writers here look down their noses at people like me. They make snide comments to my questions. They get offended if anyone questions their knowledge of the game. If these writers make a flippant comment about a player, I would call them out. Who are they to call Nick Castellanos “non-playable in the field”? (40 games played for the Reds… 0 as DH). I will point out when they drool over the most recent Yankee Phenom… “Rookie of the Year Runner Up” Miguel Andujar… there is no such thing. Has John Means ever been referred to by this title? Andrew Benintendi? No, just Yankee 3BDH Miguel “No glove” Andujar. Then your writers drool over CDH Gary “PB” Sanchez. and LFDH Aaron “IL” Judge.
But this was all before Covid… what’s different?
The difference now is the attitude of your writers. They have changed. They would take the ribbing in stride and sometimes make a cute comment letting you know they understand and they would be more “journalistic”. Now, they get offended and rude. They have an attitude of “How dare anyone question my baseball aptitude?” “I will smite thee into MLBTR purgatory.”
Yes, I was banned. I made a comment in a non baseball chat session and I believe I was collateral damage because I really didn’t say anything offensive. Sure, it was not baseball related, but I have seen posters make insults to posters… rude comments… threats even, but my comment was just an opinion.
But that banning made me think how does my opinion on this subject differ from the opinions shared by MLBTR writers? Why can they have an opinion on something and I can’t? The writers interject their biased beliefs (baseball and non-baseball) into their articles… why can’t I say what I believe?
I have since found other sites that I enjoy for baseball. MLBTR’s is not my main site any more. Jeff, Mark, Connor, Steve, George, Tim… (I think I got you all), thank you for the baseball information. You guys were great… (until recently). Take care.

This is my 2nd name.i was banned before under a diff name because the anti pres stuff was so bad that i had to defend a guy i didn’t even vote for…id bet ppl left for that reason too ….the owners of this site dont like him so any positive things get bounced…..p.s. when you do get banned they dont take your emails to give an explanation

Could it be both teams are playing lousy and fans ( front runners) have stopped watching?

They are banning and temporary banning on this and their other sites since they got their subscription service started.
While the reporters were very good in the past on the whispers and being first to get info together, they have been scooped even by yahoo at this point and many other sites where the transactions are completed before they even put it as rumor here or other sites. Look at the AP signing with the Lions for example.

The rude comments drive people away too. You don’t build a large community by letting people run wild throwing insults whenever they disagree or don’t like someone. Sure, you can ignore the insults but it’s easier to not interact or simply go some place else.

You really have so much to talk about. The trade deadline has come & go. Your love for the Yankees is profound. I’m definitely excited in reference to your comments-not. I’m looking for the closest window now to jump out of now lol…Much thanks for the covid convo also. I was starting to just stop thinking about it for 5 minutes. Have a excellent day!
