The Brewers have reinstated infielder Luis Urias from the injured list. He had been sidelined due to a COVID-19 diagnosis.
To open roster space, the Milwaukee organization has designated veteran first baseman Logan Morrison for assignment. He could conceivably remain with the team if he clears waivers and the club wants to keep him in the 60-man player pool.
Urias came to the Brew Crew along with Eric Lauer in the swap that sent Trent Grisham and Zach Davies to the Padres. The Friars have received strong initial production on their side of the deal, though it’s obviously far too soon to declare a winner.
Through about a half-season of total MLB play, Urias has struggled to a .221/.318/.331 batting line with six home runs. But the former top-100 prospect has ripped up Triple-A pitching for a cumulative .305/.403/.511 output over 887 plate appearances.
Morrison, soon to turn 33, has seen his MLB opportunities wane in recent seasons. He struggled in 28 plate appearances early this season in Milwaukee. In his eleven major league campaigns, LoMo has launched 140 long balls and produced a .238/.323/.425 slash.
Aww.. NoMoLoMo?
NoMoLoMo gives LoMo FOMO.
Urias was out for almost exactly a month
Yay Urias!
Turning 23 huh? That’s pretty good for playing since he was 12.
And I thought Tatis was young…
I guess he still has some upside to him, then.
LoMo is not soon to turn 23
I think Morrison is turning 33 not 23 haha… otherwise he’s been in the majors since he was about 13 years old! hahaha 🙂
Urias boutta put all the doubters to shame
It’s great seeing Grisham and Davies proving you wrong.
It’s also great seeing Pham play and Cronenworth having success knowing Renfroe has struggled mightly in Tampa.
You were wrong a lot this past off season. Hopefully you didn’t quit your day job.
Son, I retired at 33 with plenty of $, while you can hardly pass the entrance examinations for Kindergarten.
Once you bring how much money you make it to an online argument you automatically lose. On top of that, you couldn’t even respond to any of his points.
Who died and made you king of Internet arguments?
And I have no reason to dignify a response by a newcomer acting like he and I have some kind of history.
Did he say how much money he makes? Where are you seeing this?
Grisham has a great power/speed combo, but will be a .230 hitter and is absolutely nothing special as a corner outfielder. He’s on a great contract still but he’s a dime-a-dozen. Don’t think he’s proving anyone wrong.
Arica is hitting the best on Milwaukee right now. Don’t know where he will play
Arcia
Urias will likely platoon with Sogard at third and Arcia will remain at short until his bat cools off
The Brewers need to dfa Gyorko, Sogard, Mathias and Smoak then just go with Erceg, Nottingham, Taylor and Gatewood. They can’t be any worse then those guys. Rather see the young players anyways.
Well, Mathias got optioned and Braun activated. That’ll reduce Smoak’s at-bats and theoretically, you could construct a lineup without those players
True. is it me or do you think that we should go with a rotation of Woodward, Houser, Burnes, Lauer, and Peralta?
I think Peralta’s better served as a versatile long reliever they can use to salvage a short start. I would leave Anderson in, as I’m not sure how else you would deploy him. He’s a groundball specialist and innings eater without the arsenal or arm talent to overpower hitters. I agree Burnes should start over Lindblom though. He’s earned it after bouncing back from a disastrous 2019 campaign with a terrific spring training
Morrison was not only BIG for his age at 13, but obviously lied about his age so he could become a MLB player and have attained such a lengthy professional career while he is only currently 23 years of age..
Logan Morrison’s likely going to make more money in the NPB or KBO so hopefully he gives it a shot there rather than being stuck as a bench guy.
23 hahaha 😛
