AUG. 15: Manager Bob Melvin said Montas will throw Saturday and could start Sunday, Shayna Rubin of the Mercury News tweets.
AUG. 14: The Athletics have scratched righty Frankie Montas from his scheduled start this evening. Southpaw Jesus Luzardo will take the ball instead.
Montas is said to be dealing with upper back tightness. It’s not evident at this point how serious the injury is.
It’s disappointing to see Montas hit the shelf given his recent successes on the mound. Over twenty starts dating back to the start of the 2019 season, he owns a sparkling 2.42 over 119 frames.
At least Luzardo will finally be back in the rotation, but sucks to lose a hot pitcher.
Well that was fun while it lasted.
Say it ain’t so, Frankie Mo! Hopefully this is just a minor issue and he won’t miss too many days. The A’s are a powerhouse again this year but need to keep their key players off the IL to make a serious run. IMO, Matt Chapman is a Top 10 player in the league and a potential MVP one day if Trout ever decides to slow down a bit.
He’s always hurt is the problem. Remember when 1st came into the Sox organization, the kid could hit 100, but would get hurt and miss 3-4 weeks at a time. that’s been his career norm.. Injuries.
And he didn’t even itch.
Likely a PEDS related issue.
PEDs prevent injuries and help in recovery time.
PEDs can also lead to injury. Two fold.
Maybe hotel beds are taking their toll?
Cueto would have out pitched him anyway
And the A’s would have won anyways.
Back to back ninth inning dings!!
