The Red Sox have announced that left-handed pitchers Darwinzon Hernandez and Josh Taylor have both tested positive for COVID-19, MLB.com’s Ian Browne was among those to report. Taylor’s positive test came during the intake at Red Sox camp, whereas Hernandez stayed at home. Both players will be quarantined and unable to return to the team until they’ve tested negative twice.
Evidently, both players gave the team permission to reveal their identities as the players who received positive test results. Boston skipper Ron Roenicke wouldn’t say whether Taylor and Hernandez were exhibiting symptoms, which could alter their timeline in returning to the diamond.
Fellow Red Sox lefty Eduardo Rodriguez, who has abstained from reporting to Boston, is awaiting test results after coming into contact with a person who may have contracted the virus.
Both Hernandez and Taylor figure to be important pieces in the Boston bullpen this year, and there’s a considerable chance that the Sox will have to start the season without them. The two lefties each got their first foray into the big leagues last year, with Hernandez tossing more than 30 innings for Boston and Taylor tallying almost 50. Their roles this year might have been amplified, with relatively limited left-handed options in the bullpen mix for the Red Sox. Josh Osich is the other lefty reliever in the Boston 60-man player pool.
Clearly, though, the primary focus will be on the health and recovery of the Red Sox pitchers, and we wish them a quick and orderly return to health. We’ll hope to see Hernandez and Taylor on the mound and in good health at Fenway Park in the near future.

It might not be a bad idea to wait until the end of each day to summarize the CL (Covid List). It’s not as exciting or surprising as a trade, free agent signing, or a tragedy/death heaven forbid, So there’s really no rush to be the first to report one player or team at a time. eh
Ironman_4life
There has been a death today.

A lot of people come here for early info (Twitter too, obv), to make trades in fantasy baseball leagues. Yeah, a bunch of neckbeards no doubt, but still, pertinent info for what I’d expect to be a large % of their page views (being fantasy baseball related).
JobuKnows
Two relief pitchers who have no fantasy appeal is pertinent info? Unless there’s a fantasy league with 20+ teams that I’m unaware of. Fine, two CL updates per day.

Both do in holds leagues and K9 stats

Imagine how enthralling life must be… how much “winning” you must be enjoying, how many MAGAbucks are busting out of your bank account, that you would have the spare time to wait around in message forums for anything covid-related to be posted, so that you can “pwn the libz”.
So. Much. Winning.
Brown people scary.

Where did this gibberish come from? You have some obvious issues.

Seek professional help Bill. You’re very ill.

These are a couple of guys who need mound time. Both have great stuff but command issues. Oh well. That’s the way it goes. I think Darwinzon could be a useful arm for the near future when he gets a handle on his stuff. He’s nasty to hit. Josh too could be a good 7th or 8th inning guy if he continues to develop.

Makes me wonder if Chris Sale actually had the virus (early) when he reportedly had pneumonia.
JobuKnows
Yeah, he was probably the mystery man who brought the virus from Wuhan to Washington state back in January.

Irresponsible major league baseball players are going to destroy the season before it even starts. Players who get the corona virus are probably not team players and selfish. They’re dining with friends and family and out there partying. Who knows probably there’s calling on call girls. They have the money?. Me and my friends and family have not contracte the Corona virus because we stay home and we’re responsible.
whyhayzee
Well, at least you’re not judging.

Have you seen my baseball?

It’s between the witch hazel and the support hose.
Dorothy_Mantooth
Yeah, the super rich Josh Taylor who as of last season had to work multiple jobs to support his family. He was so looking forward to this season at league minimum (~$600K) so he didn’t have to work elsewhere again and then COVID hits. I’m sure he’s out partying and spending money on call girls..:Same goes for Darwinzon. He was up for about 3/4 of the season last year. He never got a big signing bonus so the kid finally ‘made it’ last year, earning close to $400K in total. Both now stand to make about $200K this season; which is certainly enough money for them to live off of, but neither of these kids are wealthy or living the playboy lifestyle.

No clue guy. When I played guys did this. They okay my friend. I remember guys smoking pot on bus to cities. You think it’s glamorous lol It is glamorous
Ironman_4life
So with your logic the ones that get it are selfish. What about the ones that dont get it. Ate those the “tram” players?
BigFred
“Ate those the “tram” players?” We’re all asking that same question.

They serve snacks at ski resorts?
Iknowmorebaseball
No my non-tkinker! Re-read my post then text your comment. Here is this that you missed from my post “Players who get the corona virus are probably not team players and selfish”.
If you can’t make sense of that then I can’t help you. Remember my dopes, probably does not mean every MLB player who contracts the covid. I may have to be more clearer for you ones that lack basic reading skills.

I’m just throwing this out there, but maybe starting the season with an active pandemic raging isn’t the best idea.

My state has the worse death rate in the country but we’re also the most densely populated. The governor has hammered away at the “knuckleheads” and we are finally seeing cases and deaths drop substantially. We’ll see if it stays there as everyone heads to the shore and all. But every time a restaurant or bar or gym screws this up they get whacked hard. It’s what you have to do, punish the jerks immediately. People are going to complain and that’s just too bad. Never a big fan of our governor but he’s done a good job. I don’t give a flying fig about your rights, do the right thing, that’s your freaking right as an American. You have the right to do the right thing. Amen.

All this is full of crap. These hospitals are making false positives to make more money. 1 regular patient in a hospital is about $3,000. For treatment for COVID a hospital makes $8000. Just my opinion I guess. I don’t think all these testing are legit. I bet if I tested the hospital would say I’m positive for COVID. lol
Baseballallday
I can tell you first hand this is simply not true. The hospital I work at is requiring every ED patient and planned admission get tested… I’ve only had one of my patients come back positive so far. They also offered antibody testing to all of the employees and I can’t speak for everyone, but mine was negative.
22222pete
They don’t need a positive test to call it COVID. CDC says so. They can presume it without a test (or a negative test) if your area is classified as an outbreak area. Under the CARE Act, hospitals get 20% more than non COVID patients (medicare/medicaid). Also the government is handing out tens of billions to hospitals for bail outs, and allocation is based in part on number of positives
As for the players testing positive, its just another cold for this age group. CDC numbers prove that
