Will teams just wait until they have a number of undrafted prospects signed before making a announcement.
I assume they have started signing players but haven’t seen any announcements.

Is cake pie?
sevans36
Or is pie cake?
RunDMC
Wait until their socially-distanced congratulatory dinners at Olive Garden are complete before teams start to announce. Going forward, no more free bread sticks.
Old gator
I’m glad they’re going to Olive Garden. From what I remember of the sushi bars in New York, taking their family to one for dinner would use up their entire slot value.
RunDMC
This idea of a virtual ticket for baseball games is silly. I run a NYC theater and there is an exclusivity to content and it’s going to be hard enough getting people back, let alone be profitable at 25-50% capacity. The idea that any of the networks that have paid literally hundreds of millions of dollars for exclusivity to show baseball would be threatened with legal action.
You’re talking about MLB disrupting their only cash cow right now, which would sound like the kind of ridiculously-greedy and inane thing that would fall in line with their negotiating tactics they’ve displayed with MLBPA, so expect to see it.

How soon will Manford make an announcement on baseball season? How long will it be?
Old gator
I keep looking in my crystal ball but all it says is “Rosebud.”
sevans36
Better than saying redrum I guess.
DarkSide830
darn it, just missed it. wanted to ask about the possibility of HS guys going the UDFA route.
Melchez
Here, I will answer for him… “maybe”
These guys are supposed to have knowledge of the game… ask them their opinion about who did well in the draft… “Oh, we won’t know for years.” No sht Sherlock. We are asking your opinion. Give an opinion.

Reading some of the comments on the chat, noticed the one about abolishing the draft. While the idea of a draft is considered the great leveler for competitive balance, I would argue the draft hurts small market teams. Teams like KC and Pittsburgh have to give large signing bonuses to a top 5 pick and cross their fingers it works out. My idea would be to keep the bonus pool adjusted to previous seasons record and let teams sign amateur players from June 1-August 1. So instead of Baltimore spending 8 million on Rutschman, they can spend 2 million apiece on 4 guys. Or 1.6 on 5 guys. Or however they want to do it. Would put a premium on a front office’s scouting and recruiting ability. As for the “Yankees will sign everybody” there would be strict penalties for going over the pool. Plus isn’t it a bit unfair that a 16 year old from Venezuela can sign with the team of his choice, but a player from this country has to be drafted and has to wait until he’s 18. Anyway, this will never happen, because the draft is ingrained into our consciousness. Just a thought

That’s why they should be allowed to trade draft picks. A team like the Padres could have packaged their number 8, 34 and 45 picks to Baltimore for the number 2 pick. That would have given the Orioles the number 8, 30, 34, 39 and 45 picks. 5 top 50 picks would have really built up their minor league system quickly.

Anyone else watching the summer of 1998 30 for 30 on the Maris chase? Pretty good so far.
Hot Corner IJ
International Free Agency should have allotments based on the previous season record. Similar to the draft.

Mark, you and MLBTR keep giving links to Baseball America
(which I love!) but those links never work! Please investigate!
Thanks!
