How about a sure fire Hall of Famer who will be closing in on some important milestones and only has one year left on his contract? He’s probably about 45 years old, but come on, future Hall of Famer.
Melvin McMurf
I was going to suggest him as well. Just take over payments.
burrow_is_a_bust
I think Edwin just struck out again

Take Hosmer… We’re begging.
LouisianaAstros
I don’t get the hate for Hosmer
Very few players will crush the ball in your Stadium
Hosmer gives you productive at bats every time up
Never seen him give an at bat away
At the end of the day that is all you want as a hitter
chesteraarthur
He’s been a negative fWar player, sub 100 wRC+ 1st basemen, and is making what, like $18m (?) A season? I get the hate.
wild bill tetley
.276/.321/.460 with 21 HR in 499 at bats and 112 tOPS+ against RHP. Bench him against lefties, problem solved. It’s an expensive platoon but that’s what you get when want to be a team on the rise. Have Myers play 1B when a lefty starts on the mound.
Joggin’George
Those numbers are still not good enough for a first baseman… league averagish OBP with HR power ain’t gonna cut it.
wild bill tetley
SD really doesn’t have much of a choice Cosmodeus. The solution is to get the very best out of their overpaid player. All they can ask for is .800 OPS and the only way that happens is if they bench him against lefties.
We are far beyond debating whether or not his numbers are good enough. It’s about salvaging what you have.
Joggin’George
You want more than “not giving an at bat away”. You want actual good hitting results. Hosmer doesn’t have that. He’s too replaceable and way over paid
MikeEmbletonSmellsBad
“Hosmer gives you productive at bats every time up
Never seen him give an at bat away”
Thanks… I needed the laugh… Thanks

Guy must be blind. Hosmer is awful, especially for a first baseman. Can’t even hit on the road.
LouisianaAstros
The issue becomes…
Who will hit playing for the Padres
Let’s look at historical seasons at first base for the SD Padres.
If you have a lineup of hitters like Hosmer you are going to tax a pitching staff.
His approach at the plate is still great even though he hasn’t been hitting particularly well.
Put Hosmer in Boston or Houston you will see a change
The question becomes the $$$$
He is overpaid. I will give you that.
Still a quality hitter stuck in a bad situation
LouisianaAstros
When you look at Hosmer you notice success against a lot of good pitchers.
That is when you know he is a tough out
He isn’t a guy pitchers like to face even hitting 260 in SD.

Dr. Fauci hasnt been right about anything ! why would MLB ask this clown when its safe to start the season?
grouchonyy
Go into the street and kiss the first person in a Maga hat that you see. That might test you theories.
looiebelongsinthehall
You should be as intelligent as Dr. Fauci.
DarkSide830
“hasnt been right about everything?” high standards there lol.
detroitfan69
All the models to Dr. Fauci espouses have been wrong 100% wrong
johnrealtime
Maybe read up a little more on models and pandemics
mharr
…or just models, at all.

GTFO w/ that hick red state anti science , anti expert speak . That sort of brainless rhetoric is DEADLY
Eatdust666
Yeah, but after all, he is the same loser that mindlessly bashed Eppler almost everyday.
chesteraarthur
You tell him, comrade. How dare anyone question the appeal to authority! To the gulag with him!
johnrealtime
Yeah just take it to the extreme. Deferring to experts and scientists when it comes to sciency things isn’t communist or whatever you’re implying
chesteraarthur
What about the experts that don’t agree? You defer to those ones too? No, only the ones that support your narrative. Continue with your poor attempts at rationalizing that comment.
Judge44
So if a state is red it’s anti-science and not intelligent? That’s the epitome of an intellectual response.
Rangers29
I actually like C.J Cron as Guzman’s replacement in Texas, he deserves some regular playing time, and Texas could give him a chance on a fringe contender team.
Dice 66
Josh Bell could be had for right price.
mlb1225
I feel it might help his trade value, but if they implement the DH for 2021, there will definitley be a larger trade market for him.
gtownfan
If the DH comes about he won’t be on the move.
cysoxsale
Dont bet on that. Pittsburgh is so cheap, they’re a farm system for the Mariners even.
Logjammer D"Baggagecling
DH in the NL would be awful. It takes out strategy completely out of the game
Joggin’George
I don’t think the DH does anything for Bell’s market value. Why pay more for him to do half a job? Yea he’s bad at fielding but why pay more for him to not field at all.
humphrey x boegarts
Because Bell at DH gives you a better team? You replace the pitcher hitting in the lineup with a guy that is great at hitting, and you can improve defence at first??
LouisianaAstros
I really don’t know how the Astros will go about their situation.
I do like Toro. I think Toro can play.
It is much easier to bring up hitters and let them develop for the Astros than pitchers.
I feel like Toro can give the Astros some production but I wouldn’t be surprise if they try to bring someone in.
Even then I think Toro could be used somewhere on the field.
If need be Alvarez could play 1st base
gtownfan
I really enjoy the videos but this one seemed a bit obvious and underdone….come on Jeff get a little covidcrazy and test that big baseball brain my friend.

Freddie Freeman for Bregman
vtadave
Ok I’ll throw out random deals too:
Bellinger for Yelich
Soto for Acuna
Frick for Frack
