If the season is cancelled, will some players lose option years? Will players that were going to be eligible for selection in the Rule 5 draft next winter still be eligible? Will the draft order be the same in 2021 as in 2020?

I’m starting to realize that the lack of a baseball season has erased a pressure on my interest. It’s like a salesperson comes to your front door and throws you a pitch, pun unintended, 162 plus times a year that keeps you interested and invested in the product their selling. Then one year, they stop coming to your house and the 162 pitches are not put your way. Sure, the salesperson wants you to stay invested, but any attempts short of those constant pitches they throw are underwhelming, if not uninteresting in comparison.
It was weird to think at first, but thinking about it now, It’s not unsurprising that a diseases is ending my interest in baseball rather then the Astros cheating scandal.
I know I blew hot air on an comment thread about how I’m done with baseball because of the Astros and Manfred (former Astros fan and all), but this might actually be it for at least most of my interest.
Regardless what the end result might be, Ill wrap this up by wishing everyone on MLBTR, staff-viewers-and-all, good health and tidings. I’ll likely be gone tomorrow night and back for the 2021 season even if we get one this year, but I hope to see everyone then.

I get it. This is was happened to me after the last strike. It took ten years to get me back interested
briefgalaxy983
Fortunately this is nothing like a strike. This won’t give you that bad taste in your mouth that a strike does. Everyone will be very excited to welcome back baseball even if it does turn out to be 2021.

Difference is all sports are suspended.
dennis63480
Right after the strike I was excited that baseball was back. I’ve always been a baseball fan and baseball historian. When the season starts whether 2020 or 2021, I’ll be watching.

Agree. While I’m not feeling resentful towards MLB like I did in the strike year, I am getting used to no baseball. If it comes back this season in some weird Az/Fla, 80-100 game, no fans, ties allowed, mercy rule etc. format I’ll probably be passively interested. This season won’t matter. Rules changed. Records skewed. No matter how it plays out it won’t be consistent with the history of the game. I won’t be invested until it’s regular…REAL…baseball.

I miss baseball.

I’m fine with no baseball. Been through all the strikes. Went to “opening day” in 1972 at Shea Stadium, it was not really opening day but the start of the season. No games made up and the Red Sox in 2nd by a half game. A bit misleading, they were a game and a half out with one to play. But still, they could have made the games up and had a full 162. Bowie Kuhn. Ugh. Then all the other strikes and you get kind of fed up. So right now I’d be more unhappy if they DID play before it makes sense, I’m just not interested in having baseball prioritized ahead of just about anything else.

I hope the RS ownership use good sense n bring Cora back. The players love him, n the fans love the players. Please bring him back!
wild bill tetley
It would not make much sense to bring back a mental midget associated with rampant edge-gaining. Cora is replaceable.
detroitfan69
Cora to be back in 2021. Bet the house it’s going to happen . His third base coach. Beltron .
DarkSide830
Cora is a cheater but not mental. keep your insults within the bounds of reality.
wild bill tetley
Can’t help it if you do not pay attention, Darkside. The reality is you capitalize words after a period and Cora is an idiot for many reasons pertaining to baseball. If you knew baseball rather than pretending for all the posters here, you would understand. Run along now.
4WSsince04
Says DarkSide Mr. insult lol
Corazon5
I also hope ownership use good sense, and don’t bring him back. Any winning they do in the future would be looked at with skepticism, whether they cheat or not. I’m sure the players can get over him not being there.

Oceans 11 is a great film. Good call Mark
pasha2k
Oh these are posts from haters, nots RS nation. Anyone who cares for the team will want him back.
wild bill tetley
Brock Holt isn’t going back to Boston either. Goodnight now.

I live in Orlando and when they built the spring training stadium for the Braves 20 years ago, I seem to remember reading that it was built with a build out that would accommodate 30,000 fans, I wonder if that would be a viable venue
