Thanks for this list, very interesting.
deweybelongsinthehall
Great list but you may want to move the Red Sox so it’s alphabetical.
Kidcub23
It is alphabetical order. It goes by the team name, not the city. Double check.
lonestardodger
Red Sox would be above the Reds then
nymetsking
No, he’s right. Red does indeed come after Ray. Kindergarten stuff.
Noshow7
Re comes before Ra?
Logjammer D"Baggagecling
That would mean they’d be after the Reds not before the rays and rangers
Kidcub23
Ya it seems that. That’s odd.
Noshow7
They would be before the Reds as Red_ is before Reds_
Kidcub23
It is alphabetical order. It goes by the team name, not the city. Double check.
nymetsking
So wrong that you had to post it twice?
Melchez
It’s fine how it is… except it should be Skankees.
Enzosrevenge
Um ya misspelled it it’s Stankees
Kidcub23
What’s odd is I noticed quite a few of these guys on this list are under long term contracts. Not sure why they’re on the list.
Alex Snow
Because a player on a long-term contract can still be sent to the minors.
Manfredsajoke
Breaking news Yankees DFA out of options Gary Sanchez!
User 4245925809
He’ll hit multiple injury lists, maybe even the 60 day, which won’t require a 40 man spot regardless. Dude is always injured anyway.
Mrtwotone
Out of options 2020. Story of my life :/

Tony Robbins needed?
andrew wilson
Thanks as well. I wish you guys were doing more minor league transaction updates.
bigbadjohnny
Mills & Sadler will make the roster for the Cubs….Underwood will not.
Logjammer D"Baggagecling
I’d rather the Cubs keep Underwood over Sadler.
looongball
Sadler?
bigbadjohnny
If you cannot make the Royals or Marlins roster……you need to look for a new career !
BobSacamano
No options = opportunities for DET. We’ll leave the light on!
bigbadjohnny
Detroit cannot pay the electrical bill…….better send up flares at the top & bottom of the hour.
Melchez
They passed on villar and Hernandez. Obviously no one on this list is bad enough.
BobSacamano
So true..absolutely ridiculous
bobtillman
Blake Swihart and Rob Refsnyder are also out of options.
Tim Dierkes
This list is 40-man roster players.
bobtillman
Ah, no Hall of Famers, then…..Gotcha….
Asfan0780
I wonder if A’s could get anything for one of those middle infielders plus outfielder dustin fowler. Especially fowler whos buried in depth chart. 2 years ago he looked like the guy in CF then laureano passed him up. Personally, i wouldve given him an extended chance this spring in leftfield and passed on signing grossman for 3 mill
jbigz12
I’d like to see Mateo’s speed in Baltimore. Not sure the A’s and O’s can lineup on a deal though. But it’s definitely not easy to trade an out of options guy for something that’ll immediately help the big league club.
Strike Four
Oakland needs to figure out its MLB-level player surplus and turn it into Whit Merrifield, Joc Pederson and Matt Boyd. They probably could get all three without giving up Puk, Luzardo and Murphy, although the AAA depth would take a hit. If they added those 3 players they’d be an absolute juggernaut though, right?
Patches O’Houlihan
Is it rare to find someone commenting on this page with such ignorance to how baseball works?
jbigz12
Yikes. Imagine thinking you’re getting whit Merrifield with your extra MLB scraps.
vtadave
Welcome to strike four’s ridiculous comments.
DarkSide830
i dont think he’s assuming that’s all it would take, just that those pieces could be used as part of such a trade.
its_happening
With Darkside on this one. Four and I scratched the surface on the idea of Boyd in Oakland. The A’s have some arms LA could use down the road as mid-season callups in the bullpen, and by alleviating some money for a mid-season acquisition would be a benefit if they dealt Pederson. They have the OF depth thanks to Kiki and Taylor.
Patches O’Houlihan
No one makes trades in March, especially three for all star caliber players. Also no one is going to bail out a team with too many players without options, very little incentive to do so when you can wait for the team to DFA.
Patches O’Houlihan
Dodgers 40 man is full and already has 22 pitchers. They are not going to swap Pederson for a reliever, they especially would not do it for someone without options that isn’t a lights out upgrade over Jansen, Treinan, Baez, or Kelly. Any other notable bullpen option for the Dodgers (besides Jimmy Nelson) already have options available to use, a very enviable situation.
JohhnyBets67
Yeah just totally agree here. The A’s will definitely go grab 3 MLB players for packages led by their 26 man roster scraps. Makes perfect sense.
The Dodgers have arguably the deepest roster in baseball. They aren’t reading for the A’s out of options scraps. They can line up on Pederson deal but it’s not going to involve out of options players.
The merrifield comment is ridiculous.
Patches O’Houlihan
The Dodgers continue their amazing roster building. Unbelievable roster depth and versatility paired with the flexibility of so many guys in the bullpen and on the bench still having options available.
Jim Emmons
They win the division in the midst of rebuilding. GM Friedman gets a lot of criticism but that’s pretty impressive. And, excluding Betts (who hasn’t played yet) they did it without sighing big free agents or trading for big names, while cutting payroll. Mookie Betts/David Price change that and are there for a WS push. Pretty cool having three MVPs and two Cy Youngs on the team.
lowtalker1
I thought profar was out of options
Tim Dierkes
He is, but this list omits players with 5+ years of Major League service, since those players can refuse a minor league assignment anyway.
Rich Hill’s Elbow
If Strickland is healthy I expect a big season from him.
jaysfansince1977
I searched all over for this list yesterday, then i found Sportrac lists the players by team and the years of options each has!
The Human Rain Delay
Everybody needs to have Spotrac bookmarked in favs-
Multi year summary is your friend and insight into future moves
seamaholic 2
Perhaps a little analysis might be in order here? Some of these guys are locks to make their teams. Which are the ones that might become available?
Strike Four
They make this list every year, it should be obvious without analysis. Be grateful they’re even doing that.

Ouch!
bravesfan88
Uh-oh…It’s an internet tough guy tussle, everyone grab your popcorn, clear your cache, and let’s get ready to rumble!!!
Winner gets a two night vacation, out of your parent’s house at your local Best Western!! You still get your free breakfast and free WiFi just like you’re used to, but don’t fret, no need to ask for a ride, because we are also providing you with a free Uber!! And who knows it could even be a woman!?!
The excitement is real folks, the stakes are high, get your like buttons warmed up, ANNNNND LET’S GET IT ON!!
JohhnyBets67
A Best Western and an Uber sounds like two perfect incubators for the coronavirus.
pdxbrewcrew
A woman makes a good incubator.
bravesfan88
Even better, I think we found our consolation prize!! Lol haha
Big Hurt
Interesting to see what the White Sox do about Fulmer. I think they probably HAVE to keep him, and he looks good in spring training, so… He has such great stuff and they invested the 8th pick in him, so I think they probably give him 1 more shot.
hyraxwithaflamethrower
Agreed, but only because their pen isn’t that great. It was middle-of-the-road last year, and that’s with Colome outperforming his peripherals. Fulmer does have raw talent, but he, like Mazara, needs to tap into it at some point. If they don’t do it this year, I suspect both will be gone by the start of next year.
DarkSide830
Colome has always outpreformed his peripherals, he’ll be fine
FattKemp
I appreciate the thoroughness of the list, but was listing guys with 0% chance of getting sent down (Gary Sanchez, Tommy Pham, Amir Garrett, Eric Thames, etc.) absolutely necessary?
jbigz12
I’m assuming there’s some kind of database that Tim extracts this list from.
Editing the list for guys “you think won’t get optioned” would be something that would probably take a human being to analyze. Rather than a line of code. Don’t see why it would hurt to keep them on there and give an exhaustive list. You can make your own determination from there. I would imagine it’s easier for Tim and it doesnt involve any objectivity by presenting it this way.
jbigz12
Subjectivity*
DarkSide830
i would suggest removing the players on guaranteed contracts. Pierce Johnson, Josh Lindblom, and Rafael Dolis arent wouldnt probably getting sent down even if they did have options.
jaysfansince1977
Jay’s Drury has an option and a guaranteed contract and is very much a possibility to be sent down!
DarkSide830
that’s an arb salery though. not what im referring to and they arent the same as free agent contracts.
HalosHeavenJJ
Wish the Angels could undo the Stassi trade. It was clearly made under false pretenses by the Astros. His only good years were due to the trash can.
DarkSide830
“good” years
brucenewton
Yanks should send Sanchez out to shape up.

Dumbest post ever.

Ever? You haven’t been here long.

‘ out of options ‘ : pretty much describes the current state of the Democrats
Diatribefan
But the Republicans do?

But, they have Bill Weld!!1!!

No, They can always make some up..

pasha2k
Hembree I hope stays off the team. He gave me an ulcer last yr
DarkSide830
beggers can’t be choosers
bravesfan
Grant Dayton and Luke Jackson will not be Braves by the end of the year. Calling it now…. Dayton might not be a Braves by the beginning of the season so that might be an easy call
motchie
I have some comments and questions…
#1 Deolis Guerra (Phillies) is not listed.
#2 Two players now on 60-day IL, Austin Adams (Mariners) and Daniel Mengden (Athletics) are not listed.
#3 Jimmy Cordero (White Sox) and Travis Jankowski (Reds) are not listed, but they have alreday used 3 options. Are they granted 4th option?
#4 Ji-Man Choi (Rays) and Jacob Stallings (Pirates) had been optioned (20 days or more) for only 2 seasons. Why are they out of options?
bigbadjohnny
No doubt I can put together an A+ fast pitch traveling softball team from this list !
Jim Emmons
A pretty good one. Dodgers with just one, but if Barnes does as badly as he has the past two years he’ll be sent somewhere – probably home. Here’s hoping he doesn’t.
jim stem
I see the Marlins being all over this list. Mateo and Barreto of the A’s are mlb ready for an every day job.
jbigz12
The Marlins don’t have an everyday job for either player. They went out and got Villar. They already have Isan Diaz and Miguel Rojas.
jbeerj
How in the holy hell does Duvall not have 5 years accrued?!
Brixton
He only really has 3
Logjammer D"Baggagecling
So if these players are out of options and with the off chance the whole season is called off does that mean they have an extra year of no options since they didnt play
