DarkSide830, you and I agree on that point. As for me I take it even farther. I am Old School. Don’t like instant replay, DH, sabremetrics, etc. Take electronics out of the game. Game had more enjoyment to me watching the finese of Sandy Koufax, Whitey Ford, power pitching of Bob Gibson, Early Wynn, Don Drysdale. Respect of the game like Mantle, Mays, Snider, and the hustle of Roberto Clemente, and Pete Rose. Not all changes make things better in my opinion.
The DH has been around since the 70’s. You must be in your 60’s and instant replay is in every other sport. It’s more important to get the calls right.
I realize the IR is in every other sport, but I believe over the course of a season that the umpires judgement is right more often than not, and wouldn’t necessarily significantly change the outcome of the games or the season. If there are facts that prove me wrong, I will admit it, however I still enjoy shorter games, with less interruptions.
You can watch old playoff games and see just how many were altered in the past with not just blown calls on the bases but also terrible ball and strike calling
Over the course of a season the bad calls will certainly even out. But for the playoffs it’s a different story. I think they could get rid of IR for regular season games but they cant walk it back for playoffs.
With you on the DH toooldtocare, and my team plays in the AL. Pitchers should be required to hit like hitters are required to play D. If it means expanding rosters to 28 to deal with double switches then so be it. Job creation.
Instant Replay is needed because of too many blown calls by bad umpires with job security. Sabremetrics is overrated and does not take into account any emotional or intangible statistics that Sabremetrics cannot measure and the average fan cannot see.
He had a lifetime record of 94-46 and an ERA of 2.2770. His ERA is 16th best among all major league pitchers. … He was 5-0 with the Yankees in games he pitched in 1920, 1921, 1930 and 1933. Ruth was the AL ERA champion in 1916 for the Red Sox with a 1.75 ERA.
The NL is the only baseball league in the world still without the DH. It needs to go. The sooner the NL adopts the DH, the sooner it will get better (Mets fan here)
Tell the pitchers to hit the cages and work off a tee. If one is not capable of owning a glove to play a position then tough luck. This is the greatest baseball league on the planet. End the DH.
As much as I love traditional baseball, I cant stand seeing other sports pass it up in popularity. My generation (GenX) and baby boomers probably love the traditional approach, but the future of the sport is the younger generation
no better way to repulse fans more than use the shortened season as an excuse to push the universal DH…

Why don’t you two get on your horse driven buggies and go away please!!??
Spoken like a true New Yorker!
Lol yeah!

The human element was around 100 or so. That’s part of the charm of the game. . The AL brought in the DH to boost attendance
You can watch old playoff games and see just how many were altered in the past with not just blown calls on the bases but also terrible ball and strike calling
The athletes on the field, the manager and coaches, and fans in the stands is enough human element
NODH. Let’s agree to disagree

mays and mantle were once banned for getting paid by a casino.
This occurred after their playing days were over.

Better than what?
Than what it currently is. Which is boring
Worst trade is Ruth for 100k. Not even a question.
That sale a straight up sale not a trade.
Thanks who ever used the moniker “Fair Deal Dan” in tonight’s chat Grandpa and I are looking for you… HM
Luzardo over Mize. Good Canadian weed, I guess.
Ruth was a average pitcher ?

He didn’t say he was average.
Angels lineup > twins lineup
Price had a 3.00 era in the al East last year before he started pitching hurt. He will be a great 3/4 in LA in the NLW, especially at 1/2 price
Melchez complains about EVERYTHING Yankees. Entitled dweeb.
the right fielder question….left out Vlad

That explains everything.

I love how adorable you traditionalists are. I mean how can you even take yourselves seriously.
As much as I love traditional baseball, I cant stand seeing other sports pass it up in popularity. My generation (GenX) and baby boomers probably love the traditional approach, but the future of the sport is the younger generation
Roberto Clemente had the best right field arm hands down, no contest.
Picking Barry (steroid) Bonds or Rickie Henderson over Ted Williams is obscene at best
Clemente was a rule 5 pickup!
Bring back the DH
