Catching up on a minor move from last month…
- The White Sox signed left-hander Christian Friedrich to a minors contract, as reflected in the MLB.com transactions page. The move slipped through the cracks at MLBTR at the time. Friedrich, a former Rockies first-rounder, has a 5.37 ERA in parts of four MLB seasons (and 296 2/3 career innings) with Colorado and San Diego. He hasn’t pitched at the highest level since 2016, but as Jeff Todd of MLBTR noted last October, Friedrich performed well for the Korea Baseball Organization’s NC Dinos in 2019.

Don’t forget to share with mans best friend. My doggers love rawhide, especially the Gold Glove variety!

The former Rockies 2008 first round draft pick is no spring chicken at 32. That said, Christian Friedrich is a lefty who had success throwing strikes and keeping the ball in the yard in a HR friendly KBO in 2019 so you never know. He is also a local Chicago area pitcher who was born in the near north suburb of Evanston and later played high school ball at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL. before attending Eastern Kentucky University when he was drafted by Colorado.

I went to college with this guy. Didn’t know him personally, but I did have a class with him. Hope he does well with the ChiSox.

No risk, probably no reward move, but they seem to make something of a no-name reliever every year, so who knows?
When the hell are we going to have baseball?!?!

I’m guessing it will be later rather than sooner with our thumb twiddling (and twittering) POTUS and too few states like California, New York and Illinois actually being proactive during this pandemic. Too many our our leaders are emphasizing the economy over health which will only prolong the misery for each of these elements, along with the rest of us.
