After two winters of pretty stagnant free agent movement, it is somewhat remarkable that 48 of the players on MLBTR’s Top 50 Free Agents list have already found new teams by February 2. We look back at all these signings and the nonstop array of misses in our — okay, my — set of picks in the free agent prediction contest, only two players remain available, both former All-Stars: the controversial Yasiel Puig (37th in our rankings) and longtime Red Sox utilityman Brock Holt (41st).
Jeff Todd examined Puig’s market earlier this week, listing a wide range of teams that could still be speculative fits for the outfielder. The problem facing Puig, however, is that “speculation” is all we have to go on after an offseason that has been short on hard news about the former Dodger. The Marlins and White Sox were both linked to Puig at various points, though those clubs seem to have already addressed their outfield needs, as Miami signed Corey Dickerson and Chicago acquired Nomar Mazara in a trade with the Rangers. An argument could be made that Puig might still be a fit for the Sox as a platoon partner with Mazara, though the Pale Hose seem committed to seeing if Mazara can still blossom as an everyday player (and if necessary, another right-handed outfielder could potentially be found at a lower price tag than Puig).
The Tigers were our pick for Puig’s next team back in November, though GM Al Avila recently said that Puig was “not a priority” for the club, despite Detroit’s lack of outfield depth. It could be a bit of gamesmanship on Avila’s part if there are some negotiations going on with Puig’s representatives, though it could also reflect a potential league-wide truth — Puig isn’t seen as a must-have option. He might not receive many looks until we get deeper into Spring Training, and opportunities develop due to injuries, or teams becoming dissatisfied with their in-house outfield choices.
Puig hasn’t been his biggest ally due to some of his off-the-field antics, though that focus on his personality tends to obscure the fact that he is still only 29 years old, and still a productive player. Even acknowledging that 2019 was a down year, Puig still batted .267/.327/.458 with 24 homers over 611 PA with the Reds and Indians, good for a league-average 100 OPS+ and 101 wRC+. You have to figure that some team will eventually take the leap to sign Puig because of what he has demonstrated over his seven MLB seasons.
Holt is older (31) than Puig and seemingly has none of the baggage, as Holt was popular with both teammates and fans over seven years with the Red Sox. Holt has been a classic jack-of-all-trades over his career, making at least nine starts at every position on the diamond except pitcher and catcher and filling in whenever a need has arisen. For instance, Holt has primarily played second base over the last two years due to Dustin Pedroia’s ongoing knee problems. Over 2295 plate appearances, Holt has also provided a solid average (.271) and on-base percentage (.340), even if his .374 slugging percentage doesn’t promise much pop.
Given the trend towards multi-positional players in today’s game, it is somewhat surprising that Holt is still looking for a new team. With so many clubs seemingly trying to develop a young player into their own version of a super-utilityman like Holt, you’d think one team would have moved to sign the 1.0 version now that he has hit the open market. Then again, the catch-22 of Holt’s versatility is that while it makes him a fit on virtually any team in baseball, it also (like Puig’s situation) doesn’t make him a “priority” of a signing. As in, teams will turn to Holt to fill roster holes, but only after they see if their current utility candidates can pan out.
The Reds and Blue Jays have both shown interest in Holt this winter, and the Red Sox also had some talks about a reunion early in the offseason, though there hasn’t been any news on that front since Chaim Bloom was hired as Boston’s chief baseball officer.
We still have time before Spring Training opens, so it might yet be a while before either Puig or Holt put pen to paper on a new contract. But which do you think will be the first to land with a team?
(Poll link for app users)
I’d say the Brockstar does and it’s not even close. I’d guess that he’s sitting on at least a few offers. While I don’t agree with it, some teams will be turned off by Puig even if they’re fits, which will destroy his market.
Red Sox really blew this one…they signed a far less versatile and skilled player as their primary utility player….when Holt could have been had for the same base with some incentives and an option… Honestly I an more upset losing Holt than Betts..because this was avoidable and the other is financially driven.
Fans in boston put up with manny’s antics because he was bashing 40 hrs, and, while he was goofy he wasn’t really cancerous or mean.
Puig has gross cringe worthy habits (the bat), doesn’t mash to that level, and is more cancerous with bad attitude (think manny at the end when fans weren’t sad to see him go.
I think best case scenario Puig should take a 1 year deal wherever he can find it. Drop the antics, and just push his abilities trying to be more business and less about acting out for attention. Do that and maybe next year there’s a longer term deal. It’s “show me” time.
Holt fits on just about every team. There’s times I wonder if he envisions himself as a slightly cheaper zobrist, problem is, I don’t think deals like the kind Chicago offered those years back are really out there for the super utility type anymore. I’m sure he has offers, but obviously he is waiting for… something. A longer term? Having given an internal deadline to boston because he doesn’t want to leave and is waiting to see if payroll frees? Who knows.
I think any offers to holt don’t have a time limit though. He makes about any team better, and, he’s a better 26th man than what just about anyone has. He’s not out for a starting position so I think teams are fine letting him take as long as he wants before ST.
Lt’s see.. 1 is a all around good guy, team player, supports all the charities etc.. other is a flat out psychopath…
I don’t think the stats really matter in this comparison. Yasiel Puig comes with some baggage and chemistry risk and will ultimately be one of the last signed, if even signed at all.
“chemistry risk” – yeah the guy whos made the postseason 6 out of 7 years, and the 1 time he didnt he was on a 93 win team, is a big risk smh
@S4:
Because every individual on a team that goes to the postseason automatically gets a pass? Not a very convincing argument. smh
Of course he’ll be signed, and for way more money than the overrated Brock Holt.
Anyone who believes Brock Holt is overrated has obviously never seen him play. For Example: What other MLB player current or retired ever hit for the cycle 3 times in their career? Fact: Brock is the only one. Another fact: Brock Holt is the only player in MLB history to hit for the cycle in a post-season game. Any MLB team would be better with Brock on their 26 man roster.
Let’s pay him for past performance!
I’ll take Ty Cobb for $10,000, Alex.
If Boston Brock sees his shadow he might not sign for 6 more weeks.
This headline is really grasping at straws.
I know it’s that time of the offseason where storylines get a little thin, but this was my first thought as well. Who signs first … who cares ?
Puig reminds me of a less talented, more behavior-volatile young Matt Kemp. This will be his last chance to show that he deserves a big multi-year deal going forward. Right time, right place but the guy needs to realize that he’s there.
Which is funny since he carries a 122 career OPS+. Betts’s is 134. Those are 12 big points but 122 is still nothing to sneeze at. Puig’s 100 in 2019 still looks like the outlier until and unless he has another average year.
That career number is really lopsided after his first two seasons. He hasnt been the mvp vote-getting guy in 5 years. Still plenty valuable and always a chance to go off again in the right situation. I think Cleveland is that situation. I think Holt is plenty valuable in Cleveland as well. They should sign both.
119 and 120 OPS+ in 2017 and 2018. Pretty recent. Right near his career average. Not bad.
Having seen Puig play in Cincy, he has the ability to carry a ball club for a few weeks. His personality and other issues may turn off most teams. Hope he lands somewhere and keeps a cool head.
That’s what Cleveland thought for their run at the end of the season yet his big bat was a popgun.
.800 OPS is better than league average, there are so many worse options than Puig even if he’s not hitting homers. There’s still a 5 tool guy in there. Puig with a .300 BA and .380 OPS is a new side we haven’t seen in a while. He could have a second breakout for sure. He should be the Indians everyday RF in 2020.
Puig hasn’t had a .300 BA since his rookie year, and hasn’t had an OBP over .346 since 2014. They’ve mostly been in the .320’s. There’s not much likelihood that he’ll reach those levels you mentioned in 2020. His bWAR and his defense have gotten progressively worse in the last four seasons, according to Baseball-Reference..
@PolishHammer
I wouldn’t avoid Puig for his on-field antics or perceptions that he is a clubhouse problem (most evidence indicates he’s not).
No, the problem I have is that the Cleveland Indians gave Puig a golden opportunity to prove himself worthy of a free agent bonanza, by giving him a prominent role for a team grasping for a playoff spot. He was installed full time in RF and placed in the clean-up spot in the lineup. The playoffs were right there for the taking, and Puig could have demonstrated leadership on and off the field.
So what did he do? Hit 2 homers (TWO!) in 220 plate appearances down the stretch when we needed him the most.
He proved to be a muscle bound singles hitter who loved to show off his arm in right field whether it was necessary or not.
It was a disappointing performance when it counted; don’t think that hasn’t had some effect on his offers this winter. Trouble is, it never affected Puig’s opinion of himself as the straw that stirs the drink.
Puig is not worth the headache
What headache? He’s a good player, a good teammate, hustles his butt off on the field, and is active in the community. His problems in LA were exploited by a sportswriter with an axe to grind.
Just showed that you have two accounts, strike four.
The LA Times had some articles about Puig after he was traded to the Reds. It was not praising of Puig. Puig was always late to practice, he refused to be coached, especially about learning where to position himself for each batter. He was not a popular in the clubhouse. Some of his off field problems also became a main issue..
Puig might be contemplating a move to WWE nxt. There all the added drama will play to his strengths. He’s probably like me in some respects in that he’ll mature late and have a few regrets. He’s def a polorising figure.
I love all this talk about “drama” as a negative about a sport that has detractors who say “its too boring”. You guys are doing a really great job!! LOL
The people talking about drama might not be the same people who say it’s too boring, and the two don’t have to be mutually exclusive. There’s a difference between exciting baseball and prima dona baseball players.
Holt will probably sign first unless Puig signs in Japan or something. Nobody wants Puig around.
Which teams have a need for Puig at this stage of the offseason? I’d think he’d only be interested in a contender at this point, although he did say he’d like to play in Miami (likely for the nightlife, and no way Don Mattingly would ever accept Puig on his roster), but that ain’t gonna happen.
Cubs and Indians could use him but won’t spend money. He wasn’t a fit in Cinci. He’s not a fit in Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Atlanta or Washington, so that rules out most of the NL. Boston, the Yankees and Minnesota have no place to play him. So what’s that really leave?
Tampa? White Sox? Angels? Padres? Arizona maybe? The rest of the league is full of teams that are either set, wouldn’t be fits or aren’t contenders, and I’m not sure any of the four teams left that have a potential need would want to introduce a clubhouse cancer like Puig. Especailly San Diego. Puig and Machado in the same clubhouse would destroy that team.
Exactly. Toss Tommy Pham into that mix and it would make for a very long season. On the bright side, AJ Preller would be gone.
Texas
Puig somewhere in the AL. He’ll be a DH. Oakland maybe. Brock Holt is average. He might get a minor league deal
That’s just ridiculous. Puig has one of the best RF arms in the game. Why would you waste it as a glorified pinch hitter?
If he is “average” wouldn’t he get a major league deaL? That is what average major leaguers tend to get.
If he’s above average he’d be signed already. I only said Puig would be a DH because over 85% of teams have a crowded outfield. Maybe Boston if the Red Sox trade Mookie. He could play RF there.
Puig’s above average. He had an average year in 2019 but his career OPS+ is 122, well above average. In 2017 and 2018 they were 119 and 120. For comparison, Betts’s career OPS+ is 134. Not saying he’s a Betts, just saying he’s not average, at least not until/unless he has another average season.
The only reason I can see for Puig not having a contract is his behavior.
And yet last season, Holt had more WAR with half the plate appearances as Puig. Also had a higher wRC+.
Holt’s 103 wRC+ means he created 3% more runs than average in his number of plate appearances (not than players with Puig’s plate appearances). Puig created 1% more than average in his number of plate appearances. Holt still did better proportionally but not overall in absolute number of runs created. He did not create more runs in half the PA’s, as you suggest. Holt has never played 611 PA’s. It’s been years since he was close.
The WAR you are referring to is 1.3 vs. 1.2, which, if you know anything about WAR, is a meaningless difference. Far greater spreads are a wash. Your point about the difference in plate appearances, however, is well taken.
Fwiw, Holt’s OPS+ was 101 to Puig’s 100, also pretty much a wash.
I didn’t say he created more runs. He created wins at a much higher rate.
Exactly – he’s a butthead, and everybody knows it.
Puig will be a DH….really? He has one of the best arms in baseball and recently graded as an excellent fielder.
Holt is certainly not average. He is versatile and hits with a good OBP.
Are you sure you follow baseball at all?
There’s zero chance Oakland will bring in his antics… they’ve been very careful to build a positive clubhouse presence ever since the butler/Valencia beef and have stayed far away from players like Puig (plus he doesn’t really fit with canha laureano piscotty pinder grossman)
Yeh sure @Wrek305, Greg Allen is a better RF than Yasiel Puig. Great insight. You sure know baseball!!!
I think eventually the tigers will sign puig. They can offer him the everyday LF and middle of the order spot one a one year deal and then he can try his luck again next offseason
Why aren’t the Rangers in on Puig? Woodward is familiar with him and they could use another corner outfielder; assuming Gallo plays center again. I mean, why else would they include DeShields in the Kluber trade?? Besides, once Choo is gone then either Gallo or Calhoun can fill that role eventually paving way for an eventual Taveras promotion.
I have no way of knowing but maybe Woodward is so familiar with Puig that he has told John Daniels “hell no!” You are right though he seems to fit good being a good defender and above all else a good righty bat.
“Puig hasn’t been his biggest ally due to some of his off-the-field antics”
That’s not even true. Puig sometimes makes bone-headed plays trying to do too much on the field, and he is a bit hot-headed when it comes to the opposition ON THE FIELD. But he has an excellent track record off the field. He is very active in charities, especially children’s hospitals. That is a borderline libelous take.n him.
Yeah, I was going to mention this too. Unless I’ve missed something since he left LA, all of his off-field issues date to his first year with the Dodgers, which if I remember right was two speeding tickets and a shoving match in a bar. He really cleaned up his act after that, but some won’t ever give it a rest no matter how many years ago that happened. Honestly I believe they really just dislike the guy for his theatrical playing style, which admittedly is polarizing. But I bet years from now when he’s out of the game fans will remember him as somebody who was kind of weird and different but in a way that was always fun to watch.
80% of it may literally come down to the bat-licking.
He licked his bat off the field too? That would be weird!
If he licked bats in the locker room, he probably would have signed by now…….
Comment of the night Bob.
i feel like its probably Holt. id imagine he’s weighting serveral options, but theyve. probably been on the table longer. there arent enough OF openings for Puig to be that sought after.
I would love to see Holt go the Reds.
Puig should go to Japan where he would be a superstar, rake in some serious cash and come back to the MLB after a career year or two in Japan.
I’d be happy if Holt were a Brave. I’d be disappointed if Puig were. Plus, I’d have to change the channel for each of his at bats, to skip the bat-licking. That’s just weird, and gross.
I wonder if a team would sign him contingent on nixing the bat-licking? I try to be open-minded about Puig’s behavior as just being oddball but admit that one kind of turns my stomach too. Remove that from his arsenal and I believe he becomes much more palatable.
If he’s going to tear up the team’s outfield positioning notes and tell the coaches he knows better where to play than they do, then I doubt he’ll stop licking his bat.
Steep financial penalties would do it.
I think the licking the bat thing is supposed to throw the pitcher off, because it is weird and gross. It’s also within the rules, so….
Holt would be a good fit for the Yankees. A lefty hitter who can play all four infield spots, when all four starters are right handed.
Seems like a guy the Royals could use.
I think Puig will sign a 1-yr deal with Detroit. Their OF prospects are still in the low minors. Daz Cameron has a shot but I think he projects to more of a 4th OFer. As a Tigers fan I’d like to see Puig sign a short term deal with a chance at a longer deal next winter, or perhaps a trade chip at the deadline
Why would Puig, a guy who has played on a contender every season of his career, go to a rebuilding team?
I agree but it looks like maybe he’ll have to go wherever he gets an offer. Has he gotten offers? Is he asking too much in years and/or AAV?
Why in God’s name would the Tigers want Puig. They’re a bad team, with or without him. Play the kids!!!
I agree. I’ll take Gibson, Woodrow, Stokes, Robson, Castro. But, if Puig means not having JaCoby Jones in CF.. I’m all for it. There’s no way he should be starting again in CF.
Jacoby Jones is so much better then every player you listed……. and I’m not saying Jacoby is any good but none of those players deserve to be in the mlb except maybe Castro as a utility player.
Unlike JaCoby (who has yet to capitalize), they’ve never been give the opportunity. These players have similar if not better minor league stats than JaCoby. He should not be a full time player that’s all I’m saying.
There is a better chance that Jacoby Jones is an all star at somepoint then cam Gibson hitting above .200 in the majors. He’s older then Jacoby Jones snd has never played about AA. Woodrow and Robson are tiny and have absolutely no power and can’t hit a high enough average to warrant a mlb chance. Troy stokes is a classic AAAA player similar to Travis demeritte. And trust me iv watched countless of these players game’s in the minors. The tigers have 0 major league outfields in the minors that are major league ready to closest being Daz Cameron. Detroit would greatly benefit from signing a stop gap player(puig,Santana, pence, etc) there is a reason those players haven’t gotten a mlb shot and won’t get one
Maybe so, but there is a reason why the O’s just dumped Wilkerson. And JaCoby is not better. Wilkerson- .219/.279/.365 Jones- .211/.276/.369. I don’t care if it’s Kevin Pillar, Puig, or whoever else, just not Jones.
To trade him at the deadline to get more kids?
Another reason I’m glad the Braves got Ozuna: No room for Puig.
Braves would have made sense, but they opted for Markakis…again.
I’d much rather have Markakis than Puig.
of course YOU would
I would too..
But I’m more of a fan of Markakis then most braves fans. Puig has grown on me some
That’s right. Of course I would. I just said that. Your caps imply that I’m a bad person for feeling that way.
I think Puig signs in the middle of Spring Training as teams learn their rosters. Brock Holt may sign shortly after Spring Training to maybe Cards, Reds, or Rangers. Holt (I believe) could be holding out for additional years on a contract. He is probably getting one year offers and want additional year(s). I think he could get a 2 year deal from any club AAV 5-8 million a year.
Puig has a major attitude problem and that is scaring clubs away. I could see Puig playing in Boston if Betts is dealt. If not there, his best option is a team like the Pirates who will not be contending this year. Have a good year and keep the attitude in check, go for a solid contract if he manages to do all the right things. It’s hard to believe he would, but he’s options are very thin.
I could see Oakland signing Puig on a 1 year deal
His reverse split is interesting but Oakland is looking more for a left handed bat. The A’s need to keep 2 kids as they are out of options so that also reducing options
Trade Canha, Pinder, Bassitt and Piscotty for Betts, sign Puig.
Puig-Laureano-Betts > Grossman-Laureano-Canha
I’d think this would be a fascinating move. Buy low on Puig and hopefully he just rakes the ball.
But, unless someone struggles mightily or an injury happens, I don’t see Puig landing in Oakland.
Isn’t Josh Reddick a free agent still as well?
Who cares ?
Holt then Puig
You must care as you took the time to click on the comments button and then write your comment! I myself would not complain if the Blue Jays ink Holt to a contract!
Funny that this is the headline compared to where we were at this time last year.
Noooooooooo the Brockstar HASTA STAY in Boston. Are you listening Boston?
LOL – they can’t afford him…
Can are rich, and can afford anyone they want.
They are trying to trade Betts and get a bunch of prospects,
Then they are going to try to resign him.
There are a few rumors that might change that. And Holt might be waiting on that to be resolved.
I don’t really care.
It’s a Puig roast. What time is dinner? And what if I’m a vegetarian? Holt the Puig, I’ll just have some Brockoli.
It’s actually nice to see you being creative instead of the usual drivel trolling. One of the better puns I’ve seen around here.
He’s a punny guy. Get it?
Jays sign Puig.
Then, they can start an outfield of Ball-face, Sunflower Shower, and The Bat-Licker!!
who cares? what a stupid post.
You mean your comment? I agree.
Haha mo burns another palooka!
Have gun will travel
Holt on a minor league deal goes first. Not sure how he made the top 50 let alone all the way to 41.
Why would he have to settle for a minor league deal?
Because he’s 41.
He is 31, per baseball reference.
I think he will get a 2 year with an average of 4 -5 per.
Holt is worth a major league deal, just not a big deal. 2/9 to a contender.
I would sign Puig because he can hit a baseball over a fence and catch the ball in the outfield and throw the ball to 2nd base really good and run really fast when he’s on base. 1 year deal, if he’ll take it. I wouldn’t sign a guy with the first name of Brock to more than a minor league deal. The best Brock was Lou Brock. The only other Holt I can think of is Lester Holt and I would definitely not sign him to a baseball contract; I’m not sure he’s even played baseball before. Then I would trade a SubWay sandwich to Boston for David Price and ask them to pay at least 80 million dollars of the rest of his contract. Double meat on that sandwich, by the way.
You’re a little strange. Do you know that?
Only thing i know is that my Orioles are going to suck again…..oh well
Why has Holt not signed? I get Puig and his baggage, but a multi position player like Holt should who can hit too is a mystery to me. Is it money?
Probably trying to get a year to too more, and a few more dollars.
I am sure he has had several offers by now.
Can hit? His career OPS+ is only 92.
Since his 2017 concussion season he’s at about 105. As a bench player who can play several positions well, that’s pretty good.
Odd to think that back in 2013-2014, saying that Puig might have to settle on a one year deal with a rebuilding club would have sounded insane.
At one point I wasn’t a fan of Puig but he grew on me, I’m still shocked he hasn’t been signed. Seems like it’s gonna be some random team that gives in on him cause he still produces
Why does Brock sign first?
More versatility (SS and others vs RF), and probably a bit cheaper.
Many teams can use a back-up SS, not so many a sold RF.
Brock to Cincinnati 2 and 4 per.
But but uninformed Dodger fans said trading Puig was a bad move.
I doubt any real dodgers fans would come close to saying that. They got 2 top 100 prospects out of that trade and Josiah Gray and Jeter Downs are their #4 and #5 prospects in a loaded system! Trading Puig was a wonderful move.
Close followers of the game expected Puig to be traded a year ago, especially after Turner Ward left. Any misgivings coming from Dodger fans were more about missing watching him play.
Puig’s will be happy because I say Holt and I’m never right.
SF Giants most OF needy team in bb, but no one mentions Puig going there?
Have you seen the Tigers outfield?
I miss yasiel – but can understand the hesitation on signing him. On a one year deal though it’s a fantastic deal – keeps him motivated and he’s a great talent. Some of the best right field play I’ve seen.
Hahaha yeah that dude is practically willie mays out there! What is wrong with these clubs?! It must be a bidding war, that’s why he’s unsigned!
Holt to Reds.
Holt
Holt signs first.
I don’t care who signs first, but both should sign with Cleveland.
Holt to Reds
Nooooo The Brockstar needs to stay in Boston!!!!!!
Holt’s considering offers from various MLB club….Puig’s considering offers from Jerry Springer and TMZ…..
Omg Bob that is a crazy funny comment, love it.
What’s on Second.
Puig’s stats last year are better than Holts career numbers.
Different roles. Holt had been a consistent guy off the bench, utility, play everywhere guy. And he still has a better attitude than Puig.
Exactly. Why are people on here hyping up Brock Holt so much? He’s just an ordinary utility player with little power and a decent OBP. His only value is in his ability to play different positions. And Puig’s alleged attitude problems are so overblown. He’s a far better player and a more significant addition to any team than little Brock Holt with his 23 career homers.
This is an article about Holt and Puig. Holt plays good defense at several positions and gets on base. He’s a great bench piece that most teams would benefit by having. Puig is a starting OF with a lot of baggage and discipline issues. Only a few teams would benefit by having him in the starting lineup, and I doubt he wants a bench role.
I guess you never watched him. He’s clutch n a super person.
Match Puig up with Machado and you’ve got a dirty book.
Any football on TV tonite?
Red Sox missing out not signing Holt. They will be disappointed with Peraza.
They might resign him
Puig vs. The Rock who wins?
Puig is 29 at 6’2″/240 lbs and The Rock is 47 at 6’5″/260 lbs. In a wrestling ring, I’d still give it to The Rock as he’s got more technical training and experience. Maybe boxing too with height and reach advantage but I can’t be certain. Any other competition requiring speed and endurance has got to go to Puig who still trains to play a pro sport.
Puig to Texas.
If the Red Sox wind up trading Betts and Price to LAD and don’t get an OF in return… any chance the Sox could look to sign Puig to a 1-year “show-me deal” I think it could potentially work out for both sides. Puig should be able to do well with Fenway’s dimensions and (assuming Price and Betts go) the Sox would hypothetically have the $ below the luxury tax to sign him… so it could be a win-win and even with Puig’s antics and inconsistencies on the field at times. I do still think he has AS-level talent… will he ever really get his head on straight and live up to the raw skills? idk but I definitely think he has the talent to have a big season this year, wherever he winds up.
As long as his dramas don’t materialize among the already dramas in place ready to explode.
Who cares
Last two years Holt is a .285/.365 hitter. Wonder if Cora did a number on him. Could be why teams are skeptical.
Holt was injured in 2016 and 2017. The two years before that, he hit about .280 and had an OBP of about .340.
Puig- 1 year deal to Cardinals. Maybe something incentive based
I would like to see Puig sign with his Cuban brothers and play for the White Sox. Abreu is the team White Sox team leader and WILL keep Yasiel in check.
Holt is probably looking for a $20-mil for 3 years type deal when he should probably setting on $8’ish for 2 years. Until he and his agent drop that price it might just be Puig. The race is on.
At least you’re not trying to hide your trolling anymore with bad baseball takes. Now it’s just flat out lies. But at least you’re letting everybody else see that for yourself. Might be time for another name change, troll.
Was this directed at Marner, Jimmer or me? Not quite sure since you didn’t properly address anyone. Plus your constant teary-eyed comments along with your self-clicking the thumbs up button for self-validation is getting a bit old.
I think Holt is looking for 3-years and will have to settle for 2 or even 1. Probably will fall short of MLBTR projections now that the offseason is late. MLBTR wasn’t out to lunch with their assessment of Holt. Not at all. Bad take? Nah. But thanks for your enlightening take. Or was that just name-calling and low hanging fruit picking again?
