Hold on to Chicken Strip and Joc for the trade deadline.
A Joc/Pollock platoon could hit 65 HR in LF. I think he is staying.
until Pollock hits the DL (from a DBacks fan)
Joc is the most underrated. He is better than Harper, Cutch, Benintendi, Cain, Castellanos, and the list goes on. However he almost got traded for scraps. Moreover, he’ll probably get a squibblet contract when he finally hits FA.
I hope the Indians and Dodgers can hook up on a blockbuster that sends Seager and Joc to the Tribe for Lindor.
Joc is a nice player. Pretty good even. But if you think he’s within shouting distance of Castellanos, Harper or guys like them you’re just wrong. And for two seasons of Lindor are you mad? Drunk? Trippin’? Even with Seaver that’s a hard pass.
That is because joc is a platoon player. Can’t hit lefties at all. I do like joc but he us not better than some of those players listed.
2 years of Lindor is better than 2 years of Seager and 1 year of a platoon outfielder.
They won’t hit a combined 65 HR if they are platooning as each of them will only been receiving between 250-300 ABs and likely end up with 15+ HR each.
Hey Mark, if you liked the idea of Joe Posnanski’s essays, check out “The Love of Baseball” this book is put out by PiL (Publications International, Ltd.) It is full of stats, stories and quips and Quotes. Ie, one of my favorites “Why not have some fun today? Don’t try to throw so hard, and use more curves and changeups’…. Dodger catcher Norm Sherry to Sandy Koufax, spring training 1961…….. Koufax was 36-40 lifetime before the suggestion and 129-47 after!!! Great read for anyone who loves baseball history!!!!
I guess it entirely depends on what LAD is asking for, but I would be thrilled if the Tigs traded for Joc and Ross. It may not align with the current trend, but I think they would both be excellent additions for this young team. Zimmerman and Fielder’s (Along with all the FA’s signed this year) contracts are off the books, and both players would be affordable and effective!
