I’ve been trying to post a question, but it hasn’t been going through. How likely are the Phillies to sign Todd Frazier to hold the fort for Bohm if they feel Kingery’s not a full-time 3B?
DarkSide830
i sure hope they dont.
DakotaJoe
Kingery is already a better player than Frazier. I don’t think there is any chance of that happening.

I have been having trouble posting this question. How likely are the Phillies to sign Todd Frazier to hold the fort for Bohm if they feel Kingery’s not a full-time 3B?
PhanaticDuck26
the trick is: post it twice here in the comments section, and it will show up once in the live chat.

I still just don’t buy that *every single* free agent is telling Minnesota they have no interest in playing for them. That seems incredibly implausible, and a much more believable explanation is just that the twins aren’t offering up the same money. “Usually the simplest explanation is the correct one”. Occam’s razor and all that.
GeoKaplan
Cruz obviously didn’t have that reluctance. But some teams need to pay a premium to attract FA when all other things are equal. Toronto needed to guarantee that 4th season to Ryu to land him. I’m sure if the Twins went to $115M, they’d have Donaldson’s attention. But it wouldn’t be smart to do. If the Twins are offering the same as the other teams, then they’re not offering enough.
Sky14
People are not simple creatures. Players, like anybody else likely weigh many factors on where they sign, not just money. It’s probably not just Minnesota, it’s where the players have ties. Wheeler preferred the east coast to be near family, Bumgarner preferred Arizona, so it’s not strange that JD would have his own geological preferences. Perfect example of this was when Ohtani was posted, he excluded teams likes the Twins who could offer him a lot more money than the Angels but he preferred them. Perhaps the Twins could overbid significantly enough to overcome these preferences but everyone has their limit.
DarkSide830
and same reason why Mesa chose Miami after Baltimore chased bonus slots for months. I think the regional bias that some fans swing is ridiculous. 99% of the time players dont go places for the weather, beaches, the local fare, etc. when it comes down to it, funds being equal, players are more likely to have family on one of the coasts based on the country’s geographic distribution of population.
Melchez
Same reason why Mauer never left Minnesota.
Oddball Hererra
Minnesota has no tie breakers going for it. It’s not a glamour destination, the tax rates are high, they aren’t going to spend to put other stars around you. It seems that if they are serious about signing marquee talent, the type that’s going to have a bevy of options to choose from, they need to offer more than the other guys, and since their front office doesn’t seem inclined to budge from their valuations, that means they don’t get this class of player.
SalaryCapMyth
There are no paying customers. On chats there are several thousand of us dialoguing. I used to get involved in the chats but your statistical chance of getting a response is extremely low. I tried for months by using the method even the site writers suggested: post your question and spam it. However, after months of effort I have had one question answered so I stopped bothering with it. There’s just to much saturation.
prov356
Makes sense. Thanks. As a side note, when I created a Jotcast account, I had the option of free basic or various levels of monthly payments for added features.
PhanaticDuck26
I only pay $3.50 per month for my premium Jotcast account, and I end up getting about 80% of my questions answered in the live chat. So, I’d say it’s worth it, to be honest.
Melchez
I posted 2 questions under different names because I have felt they avoided me. One was answered and a variation of my other question from another poster was answered.
Not sure if they would have answered my question if I had kept my name on it, but I get the feeling they dont read who it’s from.
PhanaticDuck26
They’ve got your IP address, Melch. You ain’t fooling anybody with those super-sleuth tactics.

Hmmm Acuna top 5 current player draft? Lindor, Tatis, Bregman, Soto, Bellinger, Alonso, Marte, Trout, Betts, Cole, Flaherty, Soroka, …
DarkSide830
Acuna is absolutely in that group
RunDMC
40/37 age-21 season and he’s not in top-5 going forward (with that contract). I’d love to be drafting against them. Let’s see a full season in the same spot in the batting order (and fielding position) will do for his numbers.
thetruth 2
Lol at Alonso (one trick pony), Marte, Flaherty (look at his FIP), Soroka (FIP), Bellinger (another one trick pony on that list. Bregman also overachieved the last 2 years based on his Statcast numbers, HR/FB rate and juiced ball. Either way Acuna is easily ahead of all of them even Trout due to his age.
No team would take anyone on that list over Acuna in a real draft. Only exceptions are Soto (age and if someone thinks he’s going to be better) and Trout. No one else is even remotely in the conversation.
ChiSoxCity
Take it from a Sox fan—regional bias is a thing. Midwestern teams overpay more often then not, and still can’t sign top free agents.
Banesays
Lester, Heyward, Zobrist, Darvish. I could go on. It’s not a midwestern thing. It’s a Reinsdorf has been cheap until this year thing.
chitown311
Heyward huge overpay. Darvish huge overpay. Zobrist 4 years $56mm ages 35-38? I think you just proved his point.
Drew Waters Bat
Hmmmmmm. I must be lost. In what world is Ozuna a “very good defensive LF”? Maybe revisit the getting a cleat stuck in the fence? Seems kinda silly to say he is very good then call Castellanos not much of a RF. Maybe you got mixed up or misspoke?
Drew Waters Bat
Has maybe a better arm than Kris Davis in the outfield and that’s about it.
Melchez
Ozuna was good defensively back when he was a marlin. Played some center. But now, both are below average defenders. Maybe ozuna is a little better.
chipperfan 2
Ok if JD legit has a 4 yr/$104 million offer from the Braves he needs to take it and be done. I love the Bringer of Rain in ATL but if he’s seriously going to hold out for another 1.5 mill per season just so he can get to some magical $110 million number then I hope AA yanks the deal. Come on dude sign already!!
Drew Waters Bat
There was some talk I guess yesterday that he is on vacation in Canada and wont be back to sign until Monday or Tuesday. Not sure if its true but time will tell. Expect a decision soon it seems.
PhanaticDuck26
Definitely not true. Who vacations in Canada?

I’m a Phillies fan so I hope he does sign with you. He’s not worth the money with his recent (2017-2018) injury history. You could have signed Wheeler, Madbum, Ryu for that kind of money and had it invested where the team needs it more.
thetruth 2
He’s a horrible contract either way.
costarican chata
this guy said that ozuna is a very good defensive left-fielder .
makes me question the value of some of his other opinions .
thetruth 2
He is, check his dWAR.

I’ll Throw my 2 questions up, feel free to call me a knob haha
Brandon Belt and Evan Longoria to Texas? What would need to happen for that? Giants pay down half the salary? Take Odor back? Would they get any useful pieces?
Would the Yankees be interested in Brandon Crawford? He had a full NTC but going there could persuade him to waive it, Cole is there, they are going to contend. Would take the pressure off moving Torres to SS, adds another LH bat. Any legs or nah?
humphrey x boegarts
I counted 7 questions
DakotaJoe
The Yankees already have Urshela at 3B, Torres at SS and LeMahieu at 2B and no place for the great hitting Andujar. They have an outfield of Judge, Stanton, Hicks and Gardner along with Tauchman and Maybin looking for playing time. Only three of them can play and one can DH. There is no way the Yankees are going to displace either LeMahieu or Urshela to make room for Torres in order to make room for Crawford. He’ll be 33 this year and has two more years guaranteed at $15M! Last year he slashed .228/.304/.350.
sfjackcoke
The Giants wouldn’t want to attach Belt to Longoria, that said I think if a deal presented itself where they could move Belt for value they would so 1st Base could be opened up. I think NYY should be interested in both his LH bat, how it might play in NY as well as his OBP in what is a heavily RH lineup. JA Happ makes for an interesting player to go back to SF (+ prospects) however his vesting option could be a challenge to value, that said Belt’s CBT # is lower than Happ’s by ~$3M
Crawford isn’t going anywhere, expect SF to manage his workload much better than they have historically (it’s a like a lose weight NY resolution SF makes every off-season, finally with Dubron they can actually do it). you understand he has a NTC right + NYY is trying to shed payroll not add.
cincinnatikid
Wonder if a package of Jesse winker Jonathan India and Tyler mahle would be enough to get Francisco lindor from Cleveland to Cincinnati
vtadave
Pretty sure Senzel would need to be in there.
hockeyjohn
A platoon outfielder that cannot play defense, a lousy pitcher that has had little to no MLB success, and a prospect that plays the same position as the Indians top prospect does not have any chance of getting Francisco Lindor. I hope that answers your question.
thetruth 2
No chance is Lindor more likely to be traded than Betts. It‘s Bryant, Betts, Arenado, Lindor.
Also Voit is the NYY 1B, Andujar is the DH/3B and DJLM is the 2B.
