Would you believe a Senzel-Lindor trade could happen the next week? What about Lindor for Senzel, Jose Siri, Scott Schebler, and Jonathan India. Reds also receive Brad Hand.
trace
lol no
Strike Four
Lindor-Senzel straight up works for both sides.
Samuel
LOL
hockeyjohn
Strike Four strikes out again with that comment. The Reds are not getting Lindor for just Senzel. Not a chance.
hockeyjohn
Siri was just dropped. Schebler has no options and likely would not make the Indians team. Cleveland’s top prospect is Nolan Jones, a third baseman, that is much higher rated than India and also could be ready by the end of 2020. So that leaves Senzel and a not needed India for Lindor and Hand and Cleveland would say no.
PinstripedPride
I would think Cleveland is going to hone in on certain pieces. Senzel and India are two of them

What happened to the concept of doing a non live q and a for MLBTR using some of the best questions that gets passed on during live chats?
dynamite drop in monty
Hopefully it evaporated.
Strike Four
“using some of the best questions that gets passed on during live chats”
There are no good questions that get passed on during live chats. If your question isn’t answered, then its a bad or dumb question.
nymetsking
This. If dumb Dom Smith for Senzel proposals or a Marlins/Kintzler question that even the host says is boring are being answered and yours aren’t, I’d hate to see even the “best” of what’s not being answered.
Melchez
I asked over under yankees get 103 wins. That question is better than many of these
bravesiowafan
Frankly I don’t ask questions but I do know there are so many silly questions asked each chat to know quality questions get passed up.
bravesfan88
Well, regardless of such a chat, you’re still correct about the quality of the questions answered.
The questions chosen are generally all the same topics or very similar questions asked in the previous chats by the other writers.
It would definitely be an improvement if the chat holders would go over the recent chats first, and see what topics were already discussed.
It kills me how a large portion of the people asking the questions ask questions that have just recently either been answered in a previous chat or in a previous article..
Ever chat you can assure yourself of the following: Senzel trade proposals, Padres trade proposals, Cuns fans whining about their offseason, or lack thereof, Mookie trade discussions, Rockies rebuilding, the Dodgers trading Lux or Seager, something about the Astros cheating, team over/under guesses, etc..
Also, they never answer anything about prospects, unless it is a widely known prospect, they never answer anything about defensive alignments and its effects, and they rarely ever answer any question submitted that involves analytics..
I recently just gave up on these chats..I figured the main reason for these chats was to be given the opportunity for a “baseball expert” to answer tougher questions that the average fan might not be able to figure out on their own. I figured, using their expertise, insider knowledge, and overall knowledge and experience they would help broaden our knowledge of the game of baseball, its issues, developing stories, current events, and the inner intricacies of the game..It is clear, apparently, I figured wrong.
For the past countless chats, there is nothing I have learned that I didn’t already know by reading current articles or through casual conversations with fellow fans..THIS SHOULD NOT BE THE CASE!! If that is too much to ask for, then simply just make there only one chat a month per writer. If it is because there are only stupid questions being asked, then just create an article to have questions previously submitted and then sort through and choose the questions…SOMETHING, ANYTHING!!
The fact these writers are taking their time to do these chats is a very friendly gesture, but if the average fan is not learning anything from these chats, then really what is the point??
Maybe I am just off-base and wrong about why these chats are offered in the first place. I don’t know, and I certainly apologize if this has offended anyone. This is just an awesome site for baseball news, transactions, analysis, and speculation, I guess I just expected something different..
dynamite drop in monty
Maybe the chats aren’t for you
bravesiowafan
I totally agree
bravesiowafan
Maybe you can troll every other thread we are having a real conversation

How rude
Phanatic 2022
People ask the same questions chat after chat trying to get the answer they want
jakeabbey05
Don’t believe that’s true. Whether the question is dumb or not, it’s probably because the question wasn’t received in time.
I’ve been frustrated in the past about my non-answered questions, but most of the time it’s because I don’t join the chat until it’s halfway through.
Henry Limpet
Kevin Pillar is too weak of a hitter to replace Starling Marte’s production. The Pirates should move Bryan Reynolds to center field and sign a slugging free agent outfielder like Domingo Santana.
They will need at least one person who can hit a home run besides Josh Bell… (That is If they even still have Josh Bell by the time the season begins).
Strike Four
Pirates going to get Puig or Melky for sure.
PinstripedPride
Is Cherington even allowed to spend money though? Roethlisburger is making more money than that whole team
STRIKERtwins
I think that the twins need to trade for a starting pitcher I think they have a really strong Farm system and I think you should use it to good use.
Henry Limpet
Actually after perusing Pillar’s more recent numbers, he isn’t as weak as I thought. Maybe Pillar would be a decent replacement after all. Low avg, but at least he hits doubles and more homers than he used to.
dynamite drop in monty
Umpires hit 20 jacks last year. Pillar gets on base less than a corpse and his defense has slipped. He’s a spare part at best.
DTD_ATL
He would be a spare part on a contending team, not a team that’s throwing in the towel like the Pirates.
MikeEmbletonSmellsBad
How much does trading for Mookie Betts increase the chances of him signing with your team, all other things equal?
nymetsking
I wouldn’t think much. Since he’s hellbent on getting to FA, it seems like the highest bid takes priority over familiarity.
dynamite drop in monty
Perhaps, but it’s nearly impossible to quantify. The possibility can’t be dismissed completely. Maybe he doesn’t know what he wants until he finds it. Betts strikes me as a guy who, as being as successful as he is at nearly everything he tries, may bore easily. I wonder if the seasons grind on him.
Last year was such a 6 month groin kick for the Sox, but he especially looked increasingly distracted and flat out nonplussed with baseball.
californiaangels
Simmons and 2 prospects (not marsh or adell) for Senzell?
Strike Four
Angels need pitching more than Senzel.
I cant think of a team that blew it harder than they did this offseason. They could have flipped the league on its head and gotten Cole and Strasburg but instead they are going to be challenging for last place with the Mariners. smh
MikeEmbletonSmellsBad
Cole and Strasburg’s contracts are not going to be pretty at the end.
PhanaticDuck26
More than half a billion dollars committed to TWO arms? NO THANKS. I’m no Angels fan and its not my money either way, but still… there gets to a certain point (324 million dollars and, what, 245million for Stras?) where it is simply a bad investment and you gotta walk away. Then you got a guy like Bum who seemed bent on playing in AZ, and a guy like Wheeler who wanted to play on the East Coast… it was just an odd year in the fact that there was a LOT of talent available, but the asking prices were just too high for some teams to (rightly, IMO) not get involved. Angels and Twins did a good job at pivoting to more offense when the pitching side of things failed, though.
californiaangels
everyone know tha Angel’s need pitching …but when the top2 guys went for WAY more then what the should have, and Wheeler imo is a #3 and getting paid like a top tier pitcher is crazy. madbum didnt go for crazy money but you are not guaranteed he is MADBUM anymore … so why not add wins offensively and add 2 solid innings #4pitchers when last year our entire staff was 5-7 pitchers . plus everyone forgets we are getting Ohtani back.. he will at least be a 3, upside no doubt of a #1 full year of Canning(if his UCL holds up) and Heaney is coming in healthy for once so that’s a start there.. and a new pitching coach should help. the face you compare them to the Mariners is kinda pathetic … A’s, Rangers AND Angel’s will all compete for 2nd and if the Astros show any struggle maybe 1st.
Phanatic 2022
Could have had madbum, ryu and keuchel for less than rendon
probablyclueless
In what world is Simmons less valuable than Senzel?
nymetsking
In a world where Simmons is in his walk year.
Kevin28786
I applaud the Reds for their effort, but $128 million for 4 years of Moose at 2nd base and Castellanos in the outfield is a high stakes roll of the dice. Their offense should be excellent this year, though, and it’s good to see teams actually trying to win.
bhambrave
I think those are pretty solid offers for good players. Moose might tail off a bit at the end, but these aren’t albatross contracts.
Peart of the game
Hey, what happened to the Flags? Also, why can’t I have a conversation with someone who replied to my comment? I just joined a few days ago.
DTD_ATL
You can’t have a conversation because some idiot thought it was a good idea to remove the option.
Oddball Hererra
Salary floor is a terrible idea. You basically lock in teams to paying more than a player is worth just for the sake of meeting the salary floor. It’s a system that works for the idiosyncracies of the NFL (ex: non guaranteed contracts) but not baseball.
Bruin1012
If baseball ever goes to a hard cap like a lot of fans want then they would have to do a salary floor as well.
DTD_ATL
Not having a salary floor is terrible. I’d rather teams overpay a player and put a better product on the field than be like the Marlins or Royals.
Melchez
Mlbtr guys were upset more teams weren’t diving into the Bryce Harper / Manny Machado sweepstakes. Kind of strange fans know more about baseball than the mlbtr experts.
Jean Matrac
If Bonds or Clemens were to get into the Hall, why would it be Clemens over Bonds? Bonds was a better positional player than Clemens was a pitcher. Bonds has the 3rd highest OPS+ of all time, better as it stands now than Trout. Clemens’ ERA+ is the 12th highest of all time. And Bonds, though it’s obvious he used PEDs, didn’t have anyone giving evidence of actually injecting him with steroids like Clemens did.
