The Giants have agreed to terms with veteran reliever Nick Vincent, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com (via Twitter). It’s a minors deal with a spring invite.
Vincent opened the 2019 season in San Francisco but struggled before being cut loose. He ended up turning in 14 good innings down the stretch with the Phillies, though, running up a 17:4 K/BB ratio and allowing just three earned runs.
Now an eight-year MLB veteran, the 33-year-old has compiled quite an impressive track record. Through 376 2/3 career innings, the soft-tossing Vincent carries a 3.32 ERA. While teams haven’t been willing to stake much on a continuation of that performance level, he’s certainly a nice player to have on hand for this level of commitment.
JMO, I think a Matt Boyd trade makes sense for Philly.
Depends on the price. I agree it makes sense but they can’t afford to give up a ton. The farm is pretty weak as is
I have seen a ton of ex-phillies pitchers finding new homes this off-season like Eickhoff, Vincent, and J. Rodriguez. Coincidence?
Tough ballpark to pitch in.
If he makes the team out of spring training then Zaidi has worsened this team.
He’s a reliever that hit a bump in the road last year. It happens. Before his struggles, I remember him stopping the fires started by starting pitching all through April and may.
I like Vincent but hes a LOOGY correct? And this year aren’t relievers requires to face 3 hitters minimum? Could hurt Vincent Id think
Disregard my previous statement … Hes a righty … Not sure why but ive always thought he was a lefty … sorry for the dumb post … though the 3 hitter aspect could still hold true
He took the team from the second overall pick to fighting for a playoff spot at the trade deadline last year with scraps and aging veterans. He’s drafted well and has proven more than once that his system works. He helped build the Dodgers into what they are now, notwithstanding their WS struggles. Need to give him time, imo.
The Giants. Lol

Aaaaaand there’s eighty specialist with his intelligent post of the day.
He was used as a multi-inning pitcher with the Giants mostly. He was also the only opener they had all season I believe.
Was actually very solid for the giants in about 25 innings, mid 2s ERA and then the giants had him start as an opener for one game. Gave up like 3 or 4 runs in the 1st inning and made about 3 or 4 more starts where he got shelled and then injured. Pitched solid for the Phillies after the move. Good chance to make the team and get some good innings in a inexperienced bullpen which the Giants sorely need.
Lifetime he faces 4 batters per game on average. Slightly under 1 inning per game.
better than he was given credit for in Philly. if he repeats 2019 in 2020 id be happy.
He struggled mightily in 2019 before going to the Phillies, but if he can pitch closer to his usual stats rather than his initial 2019 statistics, this could be a good signing.
He actually pitched very well with the Giants in his first 25 innings. Mid 2 ERA, then he got rocked in his last 3 or 4 appearances before picking it back up with the Phillies
So ass.
Intelligence exudes from this.
I can’t see him making the pen out of ST, but depth moves are always good, good luck to him 🙂
The elevator man til they trade or dfa him
Can he close?
He’s not a closer. He doesn’t have that in him. But he can give quality innings. The closer role probably won’t be established till after the season. The Giants have some young arms that fit that mold. Coonrod, selman, and if or when he comes back, moronta can be that guy.
