The Nationals are “making progress” in their contract negotiations with star righty Stephen Strasburg, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (via Twitter). We’ve heard persistent indication that the team anticipates bringing back the veteran righty, who opted out of his contract at the outset of the offseason.

Rendon to Texas in 3…2…1….
lowtalker1
That was what I was saying when the offseason begun, but I think he might end up in philly
Rangers29
Yes, the nats said Stras or Rendon, and now the odd-man out is Rendon. Since the nats are out of the picture for Rendon, our bidding comes down to Texas, LAD, or Philly. Texas has the money for him, plus they have a gapping hole at third, (and he is from texas, but nobody cares on this site). Philly gets Donaldson, because he fits their fiery player mentality, like Harper and Arrieta. Plus he is cheaper and wouldn’t make them go too far over luxury tax. Then the LAD trade for Bryant, and move Turner to first, then put lux at 2nd, seager at short, and then trade Muncy to the cubs as one of the players for Bryant.

Rendon at Championship Parade:
Then he praised the Washington fans and their performance in the playoffs.” We felt it, and that’s going to go a long way, don’t worry,” he said.
To me, that says Tony wants to be in DC.

The Dodgers need starters more than they need Rendon. Muncy is good and controllable and Lux looks to be the same. I think LA will re-sign Ryu and get some bullpen help. Lindor for Seager and a prospect or 2 might be in the cards.

No way the nationals get em back

If they added like 5 million a year to Strausberg they could still have Rendon.

Just announced. Done. Back with Washington. Seven years.

Well, they did…..

Interesting. I would like to see a mystery team at least trying to outbid the Nationals offer. Then, Strasburg decides where he wants to go like Zach Wheeler chose the Phillies instead of the White Sox.
Nationals17
There most likely was a “mystery team”. It was the Nationals outbidding themselves.

Angels not getting anybody lol

Angels, if you hurry, you might be able to snag Rick Porcello…

7/245!? Guess yankees gotta up the offer for Cole now
DFAed in Gaffa
More than $1M per start! Even if he doesn’t make all of his starts! Good work if you can get it.

Cole 38-40 million a year now ? Scott Boras at table with Dodgers and Yankees with Cole and no players to compete with his talent. has to be his dream
