Are the Twins going to make any signings or trades?
The Oregonian
You have to ask questions in-chat if you want the writer to answer it.
ncaachampillini
Mr Oregonian I have to give you props that is hysterical.
MN BenG
The Twins aren’t done. MN can’t go into next season starting 2 of the following: Thorpe, Graterol, Smeltzer & Dobnak. They still need either a 1B or 3B too.
MWeller77
I don’t follow the Twins closely, so I’m trusting that you didn’t just make up two or three of those names lol
Big glove502
Stupid as hell. Answered the same basic questions 20 times as well as Christmas questions. I asked at least 8 real questions with no answers to any. Don’t waste your time.
kreigh8
White Sox must not exist to Mark. I don’t know how many times I asked about their SP situation. Glad to get Mark’s favorite Christmas movies though, now I can sleep tonight.
Big glove502
2 hours of your time to hear 18 times that the angels need pitching and that he likes bad santa.
StandUpGuy
Is it even mathematically possible to have too ma y questions about bad Santa?
StandUpGuy
Nope. I just worked it out with a calculator. It is a mathematical impossibility for any person to even answer enough questions about Bad Santa, much less too many.
ChiSoxCity
Smartass.
jorge78
Like there hasn’t been thousands of questions about the White Sox in previous chats!!??
Enough! Stop! Wait for the White Sox to do something already!
kreigh8
My bad may have missed them. I remember the Grandal signing chat, but I haven’t seen anything regarding their pitching need after all the SP signings.
And I’ve been waiting for two seasons only to see Machado’s workout partners and brother in law. Grandal was noice but I hope he and Mazara aren’t it. If there’s been SP questions previously then apologizes but I certainly didn’t see them
jorge78
Sorry to come
across so hard.
I follow all the
chats and there’s
a lot of CWS
questions.
The fans of
both Chicago
teams ask a lot
of questions in
chats and in the
comments. It
get a little old.
You’re just
going to have
to wait until
your teams
do something.
Sorry! My
Rangers don’t
get nearly
enough
coverage.
Happy
Holidays!
ChiSoxCity
How about wait for the Angels and Rangers to do something. They’re all those clowns want to talk about. Suddenly teams in the midwest are on the “do not discuss” list unless they’re giving up players to the Yankees, Angels, Dodgers, Nats or Rangers. I’m not even exaggerating. Those are literally the only teams they talk about in every chat or article. I asked two legit questions and one unrelated to baseball. Nada. I guess it’s time to find a better (objective) platform. MLBTR sucks.
ChiSoxCity
jorge, you’re wrong. Everytime a question comes up about a SP, the same teams are mentioned as possible fits: the Angels or Rangers. Guess what? The White Sox and Twins are even better fits. Both have money and a need for pitching. Both have deeper rosters than the Angrls, and are better positioned to make the playoffs. Who knew this was a beauty pageant about Orange County vs. the “frozen tundra” of the “fly over states”? I thought this was about baseball.
kreigh8
Totally agree. Maddening for sure. But in all seriousness what is Jerry’s plan? I’m beginning to wonder if he’s to cheap for today’s game and it’s contracts. The Sox needs some talent, especially SP, and all the arms are all near scooped up. Wheeler would have been nice I suppose. Lyles wouldn’t have. Can they get Ryu or Keuchel? I don’t understand what they are waiting on. If it’s just Grandal and Mazara this off-season after only signing Machado’s relatives last off-season I’d find that to be incredibly frustrating and not much of an improvement. They can’t really count on their in-house options can they?
ChiSoxCity
Rick Hahn gave his obligatory organizational excuse that offers were made to guys, but they chose other teams. The reality is, if you want top players coming to Chicago, you have to pay a premium. The Sox blew Grandal’s doors off with a deal that was (imo) $20MM above market value. They probably needed to go $50MM and an extra year to get any of the top pitchers. Reinsdorf hasn’t show a willingness to gamble like that. It’s too bad, because teams who play it safe all the time rarely win championships.

MWeller77
Man, you should ask for a refund…oh, wait
*eyeroll*
Big glove502
Sorry I offended you by commenting on your Christmas question.
24TheKid
So he has to be a paying customer for his opinion to matter?
jorge78
You missed
the point…..
wordonthestreet
He went in the chat to chat and his questions were ignored so he was annoyed and said so. Sounds like MWeller is the one with the problem
jorge78
See above comments.
He’s new…..
jorge78
They literally get almost a thousand questions.
It would be a great betting pool amongst friends.
Everyone puts in $10.
Who’s question gets answered?
ChiSoxCity
They wouldn’t get a thousand questions if they bothered to comment on other teams. They hate commenting on the collusion and cheating going on in the sport, so no one should be surprised.
802Ghost
oh. my. god.
see yourself out.
ChiSoxCity
Oh. my. god.
Can’t handle the truth, go back to sleep.
Cheating, collusion, point shaving is rampant in professional sports. Not just in the US, but worldwide.
Just_a_thought
MLBTR often provides updates regarding the allegations and investigation against the Astros. Collusion is also often discussed since last year (in terms of dampening the cost of FA, but with the money being shelled out this offseason, it’s either moot or on hold). If you are referring to other collusion or cheating, I think another forum may be best for you to look. To expect them to cover information that is not available is a bit unfair, they are not investigative reporters. MLBTR tries to provide accurate and timely information, I think they do it well, if you have higher expectations, either tamper them or look elsewhere.
firegibby
I agree. Plenty of good questions but half the time it’s about some dumb movie or some other nonsense. We come here for mlb talk not poor humor or things that don’t pertain to it.
ChiSoxCity
They might as well list the teams they’re not interested in talking about. Saves everyone the time and trouble. Apparently the Rangers, Angels and Phillies are getting all the FAs still available.
RunDMC
I come here for movie reviews and have a complaint that the talkbacks don’t have enough of ’em. What gives?!
StandUpGuy
I agree Run. What is it with all these angry bafoons?
macstruts
I’m sure they were 20 bad questions. :What great information did you glean about Angel pitching?
He answered two questions about Angel pitching, One was they are not going to get John Gray, Another was they were going to get somebody. Which basically didn’t add anything to the problem.
A question about the Angels GM job security. And a question about Rendon, not being enough, where he put down Angel fans for not understanding how Rendon really helps the team.
Oh and there were also two poor questions about Pujols, one including Adell.

It’s crazy to think that TX could get Kluber for a 4th OF & their 30th ranked prospect but MN can’t get Ray for Rosario
Blue_Painted_Dreams_LA
Not really especially since they are entirely different situations. Just because the Indians wanted to dump Klubers contract doesn’t mean it involves the same motivation upon AZ. Rosario is not unlike anything you couldn’t find on the open market. A power/low obp corner OFs are a dime a dozen. Ray is an inexpensive LHP you could argue has more upside. They are not the same nor similar motivations.
jorge78
Cleveland got a potential
(highlight potential) relief pitcher who looked lights out in a brief stint (small sample size!) with many controlable years for a
pitcher who looked bad
before he had his arm
broken in a freak occurrence and was due big money (for them it’s a huge hole in their budget).
The Rangers are hoping the magic continues, the Indians can’t afford to take the risk.
Capise?

Re: The Gallo question – With as many home runs as are being hit by everyone in baseball it surprises me that we aren’t getting individual seasons with 50+ HRs or players threatening 60. Alonso was the only guy to break 50 last year. In 2018 the league leader had 48 (Khris Davis) and second place has 43 (JDM).
With as big a storyline as home runs were, I am a little surprised that we dont have guys threatening 60.
its_happening
Guys are still hitting in the 50s. One reason more guys aren’t threatening 60 is injury.
macstruts
If Bonds, McGwire and Sosa didn’t cheat, people would likely be talking about Stanton’s HR record.
Generations for years to come are going to be robbed of the excitement of players breaking the HR record because of PED users.
Were Bonds, McGwire and Sosa good for baseball? No.
sacball
2005 called and wants their rant back
macstruts
This rant is going to affect baseball into the next century. We don’t rant about it enough.
Bruin1012
I guess you mean Stanton’s National league record if there wasn’t the PED users. You do realize that Roger Maris hit 61 home runs in a year so no Stanton would not be still talked about Stanton’s home run record.
macstruts
No. I believe Stanton breaks the record, or at least would have generated million of dollars in Marlin revenue if Bond, McGwire and Sosa didn’t cheat. Hundreds of thousands of kids would have followed every swing, Millions would have followed every AB.
Stanton homered in one game after game 151 and still hit 59. If 61 was the record, I think things would have been different.
Phanatic 2022
Is there a place you can see how much personal a team has in different departments i.e. scouting, international scouting, player development…
StandUpGuy
No mas. No mas.
