i find it absurd that the Indians woulf reject Bohm and Corey Seager as the headliners for Lindor, if not straight up. Seager already is almost as good as Lindor.
Makes no sense at all to the Indians.
Lindor is a 5-tool player that turns games. Seager is a so-so hitter that plays SS.
When the Indians trade Lindor they won’t be looking for a guy that can leave in free agency at the same time. They’ll be looking for young, controllable players that they can develop.
As for Bohm, the Indians top prospect is a 3B and he’s as close to the majors as Bohm.
His thinking is Bohm to 1B probably.
“So-so” hitter’s don’t have 2 silver sluggers in four years.
A “so-so” hitter with a career 126 OPS+. Right.
Corey Seager will not be included in a Lindor trade. The Indians would want prospects for Lindor, not a guy who can be a free agent at the same time that Lindor can. If they wanted to contend in 2020 and 2021, why not just keep Lindor?
The Indians most likely will keep Lindor in 2020 unless overwhelmed by an offer.
Question then is what do the Phillies do at 3rd? Are you expecting they sign Rendon? Donaldson? Yes moving up from a Top-40 prospect to a Top-10 prospect with MLB experience is nice, and at a position of need, but they have no other option at 3B with Franco and Bohm gone. Kingery will man 2B.
It is absurd to think that Corey Seager is almost as good as Lindor.
Greatest baseball sight of all time
*site
It is quite pretty.
The Nationals are not going to sign both Rendon and Strasburg. Maybe not even one. They’ll take a step back for a year if necessary.
It doesn’t matter if they have the money today. Their future starts with Soto, Turner, Robles, and Corbin. That’s where the money needs to go.
Rizzo is smart and experienced. He’s had that team contending for 10 years now. He’s not going to give veterans 6-8 year contracts because he wants to win again in 2020. He’s not the Red Sox signing Price, Sale, and JD to long-term contracts.
Exactly! They should let them go and start over.
It’s smart economics.
No more bad late year contracts…..
Nats should go hard and sign Cole and Stratsburg! Plus, let Rendon leave. And before signing Cole ship Scherzer to the Yankees for Andjuar plus a boat load of young talent.
Then trade Turner for Lindor.
Scherzer to the Yankees for Andujar and prospects… I’m laughing and Rizzo hangs up the phone!
I’m Rizzo & listening.
Worst non-move of 2019 was easily the Giants not trading Madison Bumgarner and Will Smith in my opinion.
They will get prospects. Not trading Jeff Samardzija would be the worst non-move of 19-2020 tho.
Would have gotten better prospects of they traded them.
Did Marcell Ozuna just land at O’Hare Airport?
Hopefully!!!
Time to sign off, enjoy the craziness that is the Winter Meetings!
11:08 Er, “are” the Winter Meetings
Way to end on a high note, Mark
You were right the first time…
“craziness” is being used here as a singular noun, so “is” is appropriate. It doesn’t matter that “Meetings” is plural; your verb is associated with the preceding noun, not the following noun phrase.
Now, had you used “shenanigans” instead of craziness, then you should use your plural “are.”
I’m no grammar teacher, so I could be wayyyyy off on this, but I think your gut instinct was correct.
Oh, yes, the craziness that is.
You answered your own question. “You are no grammar teacher.”
So please leave…..
What’s up with the Wilt Chamberlain handle!!??
Subtle comment on the
birds he’s banged?
If the Angels don’t sign one of the four players mentioned and settle on Keuchel, than this is an incredibly disappointing offseason, Eppler should resign at that point.
It’s still crazy to me, that we gave Zack that guaranteed contract three years ago and didn’t go harder for Moustakas. Eppler has to land one of the three pitchers in Ryu, Stars and Cole. And then supplement it with another quality arm on the market like Keuchel.
Anything short of that, is grounds for dismissal Eppler.
