Wondering what a newly-signed or traded player might look like in his new jersey? MLBTR’s Zach Gardner has been whipping up very cool jersey swap images on our Instagram account, which can be found @traderumorsmlb. Our Instagram will only keep getting better in 2020, as we’re hoping to add a bit of video to the mix. Give it a follow today!
Bumgarner in a D’backs jersey is going to take some getting used to for sure.
Sorry, I can’t get used to that. It looks like he quit MLB and is pitching in Mexican winter ball. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
It’s gonna be weird but I’m pumped!
are you a dbacks fan, otherwise that is a confusing comment.
By far the ugliest uniforms in all of MLB. Back in late 90’s, early 2000’s they had awesome uniforms, now they suck.
Kudos MLBTR on the photoshop. Almost seemless. No not being sarcastic. Just crazy how you already get a good idea how a player will look wearing new unis.
Gotta say, I dislike the photoshops. They look cool, but they’re irresponsible.
Say Rick Porcello injures his elbow, and can’t pitch this year, and thus never actually wears a Mets uniform. Then we’ve got this high quality photoshop image that’s forever taggable and searchable. It’s a fiction.
With the rise of deep-fakes and deliberately misleading, shareable articles and images, I think that even relatively innocuous photoshops should be frowned upon.
I haven’t thought about this deeply until seeing this compilation of images, though, and how realistic they look. Quality work, but as Ian Malcolm would say, (paraphrasing) just because we can doesn’t mean we should.
That’s an interesting angle. Is it irresponsible even if the player’s own employer creates a photoshop of him pitching for them, before he has done so? For example:

Yeah, I’d object to that as well. Although that’s more obviously a marketing image, it still isn’t labeled as such
FIRE BILLY INEPT-PLER PLEASE
neat. was hoping to see the Wheeler one at some point. Pham looks shook in his though.
Tim Dierkes sighting!
Been appreciating these, very fun. Great work Zach!
i knew there was a reason instagram is dying
Heh. They did this a couple years ago already though.
Good job on these, Zach. They are very well done.
