The Rays were hit with rough news today, as manager Kevin Cash informed reporters that infielder Brandon Lowe will not be able to return this season. Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times covered the news on Twitter.
Out since early July with a shin injury, Lowe had been tracking towards a return on a rehab assignment. Unfortunately, he suffered a strained quadriceps. It seems the new malady is severe enough to preclude a late-season rebound.
Lowe will join fellow infielder Yandy Diaz on the shelf for the rest of the 2019 campaign. The two had been among the club’s best offensive performers before going down. While the Tampa Bay organization has quite a few alternatives on hand, it’s obviously disappointing to see two bright young players taken out of commission instead of contributing to what promises to be a thrilling final five weeks of action.

With all the injuries woes and an unsustainable BABIP, seems like it may be time to sell in fantasy league, too.

Well yes, let us remember what is really important!

I sold high on him. Traded him two days after his injury and got Yasiel Puig & Dansby Swanson for him.

No one cares about your fantasy league bro

Thank you for your insight

No big deal, the starting 2B, the starting 3B, and 3 out of the 5 starting rotation . If this team makes the wildcard, it will be a miracle. Also if that happens Kevin Cash has the win manager of the year
rocky7
Sorry, but they could lose half the team to injury and still be behind all the injuries that the Yankees have had to play around this year….Cash won’t hold a candle to Boone as far as Manager of the Year in the AL.
TBRaysBucsBolts
But the Yankees have money to pay for a bench. And players in general. The race can put a good starting squad on the field, but they need to get lucky with injuries This team has been able to do with losing their Cy Young award winning a case, the best pitcher in the American League for the first two months, and all the others, Kevin Cash will get some manager of the year votes. Melvin is great too though

The Rays arent all roiding like crazy, juicing the ball and paying off the umps. Boone hasn’t really done anything like Cash has had to do.
A’s and Yanks played last night, best record vs 5th best. Pretty big matchup. A’s won. Game doesn’t even make the ticker on the front page of MLB.com. Wanna bet it gets featured billing if the Yankees win?
If you don’t think MLB wants the Yankees to win, you’re kidding yourself. The zones their hitters get make it almost impossible for them not to mash.

It’s not a comparison. My goodness, Yankee fans just cant wait to point out their injuries. WE KNOW.

$10mm plus vets as reserve and the yanks act like they are the miracle Mets lol

Our starters are the type of guys you brought into replace your overpriced superstars. When the Yankees start dipping into their Class A ball guys, then you can talk.

It has been a rough year, but if managers had a WAR for handling pitchers, pretty sure Cash would be negative. I can think of four games off the top of my head he screwed up w pitching changes. And some of his lineups? Wow. The players have done a great job, and we have had a little luck. This is gonna set people off, but if Joe Maddon was managing this team, wc would be sewm up and we would be much closer to the yankees.
Btw, did you hear some yankee players are injured?
therealryan
And yet when JoeMa was here, fans and media would constantly bash him for his lineups, how he rested players, how he managed a BP and how early he would pull SP. You would constantly hear things like “the Rays won in spite of Joe Maddon.” Then he leaves, wins a WS with the Cubs and everyone only wants to talk about how great the Rays would be if they still had him. It’s funny, the same complaints you heard around Tampa about Maddon is what you now hear coming from Cub fans, yet all he has done is win with the worst franchise in sports at the time(Rays) and the losingest MLB franchise ever(Cubs). Go figure.
sonorawind
I think Brandon looks like the real deal, the times I have seen him hit..2.8 WAR in only 76 games/307 PA. Tough break for the Rays.
DarkSide830
not good with their other injuries along side it
