The Astros released right-hander Akeem Bostick from their Triple-A affiliate in Round Rock, per Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle (via Twitter).
Bostick is a former 2nd round pick of the Texas Rangers from the 2013 draft. He came to the Astros in a 2015 offseason trade for catcher Carlos Corporan. Corporan hit only .176/.244/.299 in his lone season with the Rangers, who released him following the 2015 campaign.
Yet to make his major league debut, Bostick spent all of this season to date with Round Rock in the PCL. Of course, the PCL has seen a record number of home runs this season, so Bostick is hardly the only pitcher suffering from a few too many long balls.
Across 80 1/3 innings, Bostick went 4-5 with a 7.28 ERA while giving up 11 hits and 2.1 home runs per nine innings. He also saw a rise in his walk rate this season. The 24-year-old has mostly been a starter throughout his minor league career.

It’s a shame. He had a solid run last season

Wait, he calls himself “The Phenom” on Instagram so he must be great!
natsfan11
Watched him pitch about a month ago and he did not have a good outing against Iowa

King Jaffe Joffer must not be pleased at all right now. He and his rose bearers will be on the next fight from Zamunda to Houston to give the Astros front office a thorough royal thrashing.

I clicked on this post to make a similar joke. Nice moves.

This guy won the Cy Young in my OOTP game once. I wonder if that actually happened in some parallel universe. I guess we will never know.
Metsfan9
Mets should pick him up for depth
Dkaner
Tigers should pick him up. They released Rosenthal so they need another guy with an era over 7.

Ouch!

Guess he’ll just have to go back to being the Royal Prince of Zumunda then.

Last night the Astro’s beat the Orioles 23-2. Astro’s are a power house and Baltimore is struggling in a supposed rebuild.
All this aside I have wondered MLB is concerned about length of games, and some ideas are the intentional walk rule, pitch clock, visit to the mound.
How about a mercy rule like they have in the Little League Baseball. If one team is ahead by a certain number of runs by the 8th inning, the game is over, or if a team is leading by a certain number of runs at the end of the 7th. They can forego their turns at bat in the 8th and 9th..
Its great to win and Astro’s certainly did that but I’m sure they didn’t get any thrill out of hitting in the last two innings and you can’t ask players to intentionally strike out, but you also don’t want to embarass another player, its called being a good sport.

Problem with Mercy Rule is that the home team wants the concession money from fans who stay to the end. Some want a full game and don;t want it cut short.

iTy, and the sad part is your probably right about concession money. Did you know that orignally the game was not based on 9 innings, it was based on the score, first team to get 21 runs won. But as players got better games lasted forever. The world series at one time was best of 9 and then best of 5. I’m 70 yrs old and I remember each team seemed to have one or two doubleheaders in their schedule and these were back to back games so if you had a seat you got to see both games with a 20 minute or 30 minute interval. Now they play double headers but they aren’t back to back they are a day game and a night game with a new crowd.
I grew up around baseball, and the sad part is its a great game but its become all about money and that money comes from the fans..,

Yordan Alvarez is happy the game wasn’t called after 7 innings
