The Twins have released righty Chase De Jong, according to LaVelle E. Neal III of the Star Tribune (via Twitter). He had been pitching for the club’s top affiliate.
De Jong was acquired last summer, then designated and outrighted over the winter. He got another shot in the majors earlier this year, but was torched in his lone outing before again being dropped from the 40-man roster.
The season has been a struggle thus far for the 25-year-old, who was a 2012 second-round pick. He has allowed more than an earned run per inning at Triple-A. Through 45 1/3 innings at the highest level of the minors, he has allowed nearly as many walks (26) as he has recorded strikeouts (30) while surrendering 16 long balls.
A possible upgrade over Ryan Carpenter, Mr Avila; come to think of it sounds like an upgrade over Mr Avila, Ryan Carpenter.
He has go long way to go before he is upgrade over anyone. He has not been able to pitch this year at all at any level.
Hmmm.
That’s what I’m thinking. Hmm. Maybe there is a deal In the works. The Twins got the prospects to get what they want. Just a matter of how badly they want a stroman, bumgarner, smith, Giles etc.
Chase Je Dong no more…
You misspelled it, it’s Chase De Job.
There will never be a better opportunity for STL to take advantage of this moment to corner the market on De Jongs.
Hard to admit it, but De Jong was actually worse than Mejia. Yes…that bad.
I feel Chase needs to hookup with a good pitching coach known for helping young men fight thru rough spots. All pitching coaches aren’t the same. He’s 25. His prime is still in front of him.
Yes, he’s 25 in the prime of his life, but that future should be selling “Lady Kenmore’s” at Sears……….he has ZERO future as an effective MLB pitcher. ZERO.
Spoken like a true armchair sports guy. Many pitchers find a flaw that is correctable. Then they go on as a productive contribution.
Save us the knowledge you profess to have when it comes to the understanding of the profession of professional baseball players. We’d rather here your college and pro sports accomplishments you possess. If, you are not able to do that…. move on sir.
Well said about Chase, a great young man. He will get picked up and some team is going to get his best years. Last Sept when he started those four games with the Twins, he pitched real well.
