Do the braves deal a trio of prospects, such as Travis Demerrite, Kyle Wright and Alex Jackson for Syndergaard? Do they keep Gausman after another rough start? Do they go after outfield help with Markakis out, Acuna exciting today with neck stiffness?
bravesfan2019
I think that Syndergaard trade is excellent for Atlanta, because Syndergaard has proven he can pitch in critical games. Atlanta has so many pitching prospects it wouldn’t be to big of a deal to loose Kyle, but I don’t think Demerrite and Jackson is enough on top of Kyle to get the job done. I think we will have to part with either Anderson, Pache, or Waters.
Daynlokki
I doubt the Mets would trade a starter that wasn’t a rental in division.
fabulous61
The Mets themselves have already said the Braves and Yankees are their most likely trade partners for Thor.
fabulous61
Pache, Waters nor Anderson aren’t likely to be included in any trade. The Mets have said they would prefer major league players or major league ready players so you’re probably looking at the Braves offering something along the lines of Wright, Wilson, Gausman, Folty

@bravesfan2019
If it takes Pache, Anderson, or Waters to get Syndergaard then he isn’t coming to Atlanta. I just don’t see the Braves trading those 3 guys at all much less in the division.
antibelt
Agreed, I think the Braves will be especially fickle with their prospects given their international penalties. Duvall has been killing the ball in AAA, and homered in his return. They’ll have to hope he can continue to produce at least league average. After all, he does have a couple of 30 homer seasons under his belt.
bravesfan88
Correct, the Braves are going to ride it out with Duvall, Acuña Jr., Inciarte, Riley, and Culberson/Camargo for their OF mixture. They’ll also have the versatile, 24 yr old Travis Demeritte in AAA, and if they really want a spark for the stretch run, they could still call-up Pache or Waters, that are both looking quite deserving of a promotion from AA…The latter is much less likely, but crazier things have happened..lol
In terms of adding a starter to improve their staff, the Braves are in a bit of a tough spot right now. They have soo many talented starters, that just haven’t quite put it together, but are on the brink of figuring things out. So, I firmly believe, unless the Braves find themselves a deal they view in their favor, I doubt we see the Braves add a starter.
Like I said, unless they find a good deal they really like, I think the Braves are comfortable fighting their way behind the arms of Soroka, Keuchel, Teheran, Fried, and then some combination of Gausman, Folty, Wilson, Touki, Wright, Allard, Weigel, and/or possibly even AA pitchers like Ian Anderson or less likely Kyle Muller..
bravesfan88
Now, as comfortable as they are with their rotation depth, their comfort level with the depth and overall quality of their bullpen is nonexistent..lol
With Mike Fast’s influence paving part of the way for an AA deal, don’t be at all surprised to see the Braves target high spin rate, high GB% types of arms. They’ll likely target pitchers that they feel they can not only control for 2 or more seasons, but pitchers they also feel they’ll be able to improve upon their effectiveness by bringinger them to Atlanta. So, with that being said, it very well may not be a reliever with huge strikeout numbers, and it likely won’t be an all-star, finished product type with a sparkling ERA+ or xFIP..I’d say look for a younger, more controllable Swarzak type, although it’ll probably be someone with a high 3’s, low 4’s xFIP & ERA+.
Then, the Braves pitching coordinators and pitching coaches will have him come in, and they will make some minor tweaks to try and get the most put of their pitcher’s potential. For example, they might have the pitcher simplify his delivery, and have him scrap working out of the wind-up. Then, by having him solely working from the stretch, they’ll be able to simplify things for the pitcher, and this can lead to a pitcher being abe to more consistently repeat his mechanics..
Another minor adjustment they will make is altering their pitcher’s pitch selection. They’ll have the pitcher strongly focusing more on not only using their slider more frequently, but they’ll also have the pitcher rotating between working their slider down and in, and working it down and away. Or, you might see the Braves’ coaches work on locating his FB up in the zone more frequently. The Braves pitching coaches strongly believe in altering a hitters eye level, and sequencing to make two pitches look the same, yet have late and varying movement. Keuchel, Teheran, Soroka, Swarzak, and Jackson are perfect examples of how Kranitz and the Braves staff are putting more emphasis on deception through repetition and always trying to be one pitch ahead. It’s been a noticeable effort and emphasis of the Braves this season, and thus far it’s paid dividends for the Braves collective staff…
I strongly trust in the Braves scouting staff, and I’ll probably be more excited if they do end up acquiring a younger relief pitcher I’ve barely heard of, rather than a well-known closer, who’s potenting is likely maxed and capped out.
I’m confident they’ll be able to find a bullpen piece or two that can come in, make some minor adjustments on the fly, and end up being that much better solely from working with the Braves pitching coordinators and pitching coaches. However, even if they don’t go out and get two more arms, they can continue to fill some of their bullpen woes from within. Patrick Weigel’s FB/SL combination could be deadly out of the pen. They can also call up and try out Burrows, Clouse, Hoekstra, Roney, or one of their young starters that’ll need to have their innings closely monitored like an Ian Anderson, Kyle Wright, Bryse Wilson, Touki, etc…
However, they’ll only have so much time with expanded rosters, when it comes down to crunch time. So, they should add at least one more talented arm, and then they’ll be able to afford to mix and match come later on, so they can find the best combination of guys…

I posted 2x in the chat but I don’t think the question went “live”
I believe stroman will be packaged with someone else for a haul of players. What do you think?
RunDMC
If they want to rebuild their farm with some decent prospects from ATL/SD, why not trade Stroman/Thor? That would leave them with Wheeler they could re-sign or trade for lesser prospects.
newflexic
What a boring chat, most of the chat was the same questions asked over and over or stupid stuff like what is the best mascot? I asked a question about the Texas Rangers and not once was it answered. Yet, people kept asking about what are the Dodgers going to do? What are the Giants going to do? What are the Astros going to do? LOL
TheTrotsky
Probably because the Rangers are slipping out of the playoff picture and they’ll only be relevant as sellers.
jbigz12
What do you mean what are the Rangers going to do? They’re 6.5 games out of the second wild card and fourth in the AL west. Do you mean who are they going to trade?
newflexic
That’s not what I asked, I know the Rangers are out of it. However, several of their players are in various trade rumors (Mike Minor, Lance Lynn, Chris Martin, Jose Leclerc, Danny Santana. I was asking if he was the Rangers GM what are the odds of them moving any of those pieces and the interest level in certain teams.
OHjohns
I won’t say it was boring..but come on now..favorite mascot!? Bring on real baseball questions.
SecsSeksSecks
The only questions I tolerate are about who is the 2nd favorite mascot. 1st favorite is just so played out and predictable at this point.

Pirates will hold onto Vasquez because it’s impossible for Huntington to make a good decision.
66TheNumberOfTheBest
Then how did he get Vazquez in the first place?
Show Me Your Tatis
Giants can’t move a reliever at this point. They need all the help they can get if they wanna push for a Wild Card spot and actually make a deep playoff run.
Either all of Bumgarner, Smith, Watson and Dyson get traded or none of them. Half measures don’t work, plain and simple.
SecsSeksSecks
Tell that to BVW and the Mets.
Show Me Your Tatis
They won’t make the playoffs this year or next year so…
Paul Molitor
Did for the Twins in 2017 as sellers at the Deadline and Wild Card contenders come end of the year
Show Me Your Tatis
Hey Mr. Molitor! Notice how they got bounced in the Wild Card game.
bravesiowafan
2 top 50 prospects and major leaguer for madbum!?!? Stroman is better and not a rental and didn’t even pull a top 100 prospect.
fabulous61
Most people nor teams view Stroman is better but madbum isn’t going anywhere now so why ask the question?
braves25
I think it is more because the Giants are back in the playoff picture. So to justify trading him the Giants would have to get a huge haul back! Something like a Shelby Miller haul back HAHA
angelsinthetroutfield
I’m actually pretty surprised teams haven’t asked the Halos about some of their RPs. They’ve Robles/Bedrosian/Ramirez have all been damn good and none of the three are expensive in the least.
newflexic
I think part of it is that many teams are over valuing alot of their players and teams are not very willing to trade prospects. If teams were more willing to give up prospects then we would have seen a lot more deals done by now. It’s a game of chicken, we got 2 and a half days to see who caves in and who stands pat.
TroyVan
For the Tigers, does Trevor Rosenthal have any value? Hes been decent since his call up from AAA. It seems he might have some value as a bonus to any trade.
