The latest minor moves from around baseball…
- Cardinals left-handed reliever Chasen Shreve has cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Memphis, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch tweets. Shreve, whom the Cardinals designated Tuesday, could have opted for free agency instead. However, as MLBTR’s Steve Adams noted when the Cards booted him from their 40-man roster, Shreve would have had to forfeit the balance of his $900K salary. Shreve’s likely best known for joining the Cardinals (along with fellow reliever Giovanny Gallegos) in a trade with the Yankees for first baseman Luke Voit on July 28 of last year. Although Shreve was solid at times prior to 2019, he has barely been a factor in the majors this season. The 29-year-old has thrown two innings in St. Louis and 42 2/3 in Memphis.

Glad the Cards got Gallegos in that deal. He’s nasty and their best reliever now.

Gallegos has astounding numbers. 13k/9 with control, and few hits allowed. I’d love a trial in the closer role with him.

Best pitcher doesn’t have to be the closer. I’d argue Gallegos is most valuable where he is.

I’m glad my team has Voit, but I’m also glad Gallegos is doing good. Looks like the Yanks won that trade, but it’s good when both teams benefit from a trade, plus I always root for ex-Yanks so long as they’re not facing current Yanks.

Voit was blocked at the time in STL plus hitting in New York and the AL East is very different than St Louis. I am happy he’s doing well as well.

Give Shreve a reprieve.

If Mozeliak does nothing at the trade deadline as he usually does, Gant may need to be moved to the starting line up. I’ve still got hopes for Shreve. Cardinals need Stroman or Bauer. C. Martinez needs to be traded at the end of the season while he has a little value left. (You can look in his eyes and “Ain’t no one at home”). So does Alex Reyes. Goldschmidt looks like the Goldschmidt of old right now!!! Girsch built up all of the Cardinals minor league when the won a every minor league Championship. He got no credit. Mozeliak took all of the credit. Girsch should be the President of baseball operations!!! Mozeliak does not need to be the man reconstructing the Cardinals in the future, since he is the one that has screwed things up for the past 5 years!!!! Mozeliak will mandate Carpenter to start when he comes back. He’ll also keep Ozuna on the DL as long as he can. Weiters. Is hitting with power and authority However, he’ll be back on the bench when Molina comes back.

If you dont think Molina/Carp should start I don’t know what to tell tell you other than may e baseball isnt the sport you should be following.

Gant was over used in the first half of the season and now is basically toast. Completely done as a pitcher. Every time he comes in he gives up a run.

Uncle mike, I do agree with your comments, I just hope Mike Has some say so on who plays and who sits. He made reference to this in the past week that he would play the best guy at the time. We will see

indians are 20 games over, 2 up in wc, and 1 back of al central. they will not trade one of their most effective pitchers just because you want him on your team. what would the cards give the tribe that would blow them away to have to say yes to trading bauer? mercado looks great but do you really think cleveland will sell on its fanbase for current stl farm prospects? i don’t envision any scenario with bauer to cards. just seems like if they are actually going to trade him 1) they could get more elsewhere, 2) they’re gauging his value now to revisit in offseason

Nolan Gorman would absolutely get a deal done with the Indians if the Cardinals wanted to. I doubt they have any interest in losing him though.

There it is Folks !!!!! You just witnessed John Mozeliak’s big move at the Trading Deadline!!!!
Whatever you think of it, ……… It’s more than he did last year and he had 2 trading deadlines !!!
