Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: Mets infielder Jed Lowrie still isn’t close to making his 2019 debut, manager Mickey Callaway told Tim Healey of Newsday and other reporters Wednesday. Lower body injuries have kept Lowrie from playing this season after he joined the Mets on a two-year, $20MM contract over the winter. With the season now at the halfway point, Callaway doesn’t even seem willing to commit to Lowrie taking the field at all in 2019. Asked if he expects to see Lowrie this year, Callaway said: “That’s hard to say. There’s so much of the season left. We’ll just have to play that by ear.”
Lol. “Passable offense” for the tigers is hitting .244? Shows how badly mismanaged this team continues to be.
.757 OPS, which is right around league average.
If you’re picking just a single stat to evaluate a hitter’s offense, batting average certainly should not be the one
Batting Average certainly should be the one it’s disgraceful to see whole line ups hitting .200-.250
Average has absolutely no bearing on batter value. For example, Sano on the Twins has over .800 ops which is far above average but is hitting .220. Ops/obp are FAR more accurate statistics to look at for value added, not batting average.
The Tigers are far from being mismanaged. There is little talent on this team to manage. All 5 free agents were duds including two starting middle infielders and two starting pitchers. As far as hitting, JaCoby Jones was hitting .150 late May so .245 isn’t as bad as it first appears. Still the Tigers are fielding the worst team in MLB.
We’re number 1! We’re number 1! We’re number 1!
number 1 draft pick as soon as the orioles win 3 in a row
Touche. I’ll take Torkelson.
Jones, at one time was batting .137, batted. .291 in June.
I’m starting to think that Jed Lowrie isn’t even a real person. Good thing his former agent, Brodie, gave him $20 million dollars to sit around.
By not playing Lowrie is still a better move then 2 other Brodie moves. The Diaz Cano fiasco and the Familia idiocy. Both of those moves will destroy the Mets for years to come
These are ALL positive moves for an unqualified, incompetent GM.
Is the difference between JaCoby’s 2018 and 2019 DRS numbers because he played LF last year and CF this year?
I’m assuming. It’s much easier to play LF than it is CF
Christin Stewart in left not hitting at all…in the Power Explosion, no one hitting for any power.
Lloyd Has To Go.
So tired of McClendon messing up our hitters. He didn’t help when we were loaded with All-Stars, he’s certainly not helping with these developing youngsters. They only brought him back as Ausmus insurance. Brad’s gone, move on Lloyd.
I always found CF easier but you have to have speed to play it
He played both positions but ended up playing more games in CF than LF last year
Jed Lowrie, lol.
Come get us.
Mickey soesnt know if he’ll see him play this year, because Mickey will be unemployed before Lowrie comes back.
That’s exactly what I was thinking as well.
Quite telling that the stock photo used (above) for Lowrie is in an OAK uni and not Mets.
Their 60-day Injured List has one Tommy John and two Tummy Aches. If only those two tummy aches didn’t cost $40 million this year ( well, probably much less after the insurance money comes back). But if i were the Mets insurance agent, I’d be happy because my commission would be going up as their premium goes up. Insurance companies aren’t stupid.
The Mets are loving the Cespedes signing. It lets them say how high there payroll is without really spending 20 mill of that money
And not having responsibility to reinvest insurance money. Instead it gets redirected to the Wilpon Dodger memorabilia fund.
Jesus Luzardo is turning into Rich Harden 2.0, this is getting ridiculous…
He is 21 years old and hasn’t even debuted yet. Not even close to the same comparison.
