The Blue Jays have recalled righty Jacob Waguespack from Triple-A Buffalo and designated veteran righty Edwin Jackson to clear a spot on the roster, per a team announcement.
Jackson, 35, is baseball’s consummate journeyman, having appeared with an MLB-record 14 teams since debuting as a 19-year-old with the Dodgers back in 2003. His stop in Toronto broke Octavio Dotel’s record of 13 clubs, but his time pitching in a Jays uniform produced the worst results of his career. Through 28 1/3 frames, Jackson has been tattooed for an 11.12 ERA; he’s been charged with 35 earned runs on a staggering 49 hits (12 home runs) and 13 walks with 19 strikeouts in that time.
The Jays will have a week to act on Jackson, and while he can be traded to another club, it seems likelier that he’ll either be passed through waivers or released. If he does return to the open market, Jackson will all but certainly need to take a minor league deal and earn his way back onto a big league roster — perhaps with the 15th team of his MLB career.
I guess yesterday was a fluke then.
Gunning for 15 mlb teams!
Maybe now he can play for his 15th team
He has not played for the Orioles. It was meant to be.
He played for them in 2017
Ah crap, he did.
but he never won or lost for them, so going back there could add to his record total (win with 13th team, lose with 14th team, or both)
I wish I was his Real Estate Agent.
You’re so funny. HA HA HA
That was pretty funny actually
Or his movers.
He actually looked pretty decent yesterday
Oakland, here he comes !
Already played for them though. Mets?
We will kick the tires on him on a minor league deal!!
The guy gets mercilessly shelled time and again, then gets dfa’d after throwing 3 shutout innings.
Whose next?! The sweepstakes is on! Whenever he retires some team that he hasn’t played for should sign him to a 1 day deal, then another team and another etc. Pulling for you bro!
He has to actually play for the team for it to count. He was actually traded to the Jays in 2011, but never played for them before being traded to the Cards. That’s why they didn’t count as one of his teams until he actually joined the major league roster this year.
Finally this years most valued trade chip emerges.
calling it – he’ll be the Atlantic League’s championship MVP
Lol
Has he played for the Os or the royals yet ?
O’s yes, Royals no
Oh I hope Dayton doesn’t know that…. he likes reclamation projects and sometimes they don’t always work out…
This seems so much like a Yankee reclamation project.
Not if he has a beard …..
Mildly interesting factoid: of the 22 players in the trades that involved Jackson all but one of them made the Majors or had already been in the Majors (the biggest names including Max Scherzer, Curtis Granderson, Austin Jackson, Colby Rasmus, Octavio Dotel, Matt Joyce and Ian Kennedy). The only guy who never made it was a pitcher named Chuck Tiffany who was sent to Tampa Bay with Jackson from the Dodgers during Jackson’s first ever trade which sent him to play for his second ever MLB team. Tiffany was a 2nd round pick of the Dodgers and never made it past AA ball with the Rays as a 21 year old. He actually looked pretty promising just looking at his stats, and I would infer that he had some big injury issues or something based on that he only pitched in 4 games that year and missed his entire age-22 season. He pitched in the Rays’ organization as a 23 year old, but then played in indy ball with generally poor results until the age of 26.
Who cares
Who cares you don’t care?
Edwin cares……. You will when the Tigers pick him back up in the next day or two.
I care. Interesting factoid. Thanks for sharing Bluejays92!
That was easily the best comment on the article. Get wrecked, dork.
Actually kinda cool. Good stuff 92.
11+ ERA may actually be an improvement for the Angels.
Do I sense yet another new record coming?
Not exactly an unexpected occurrence. All that’s left now is to find team #15.
He’s actually had decent numbers as a reliever during parts of his career
Sign 10 day contracts til you play for all 30 teams
Jackson might have been a decent pitcher over his career, and he might be a great teammate. But that is past history, from the time he arrived in Toronto he has set new records as the worst pitcher in franchise history. Everyone talks about the 3 innings last night and yes he didn’t give up any runs, but that had more to do with team defence rather then good pitching. In those three innings he walked 2 struck out 2 and allowed 3 hits.
His time has come to call it a day.
I finally figured out Shapiro and Atkins plan. They are filling the team with young players who can be optioned up and down to Buffalo. Then they have bought a bus company with a route between Toronto and Buffalo and they are making sure the seats are full
Beautiful. Where can I buy stock in the bus company?
What a shocker!
The BlueJays 2019 tank by Mgmt ineptitude continues…..
Jackson had a 3.33 ERA in 2018. How was acquiring him ineptitude, Mr. 20/20 Hindsight?

In case you haven’t been reading MLBTR consistently, my exact words in these pages before the Jackson ever pitched a inning for the Jays this year: “Hope Edwin Jackson does well and it turns out to be more than dumpster diving for the Jays”.
But alas it was dumpster diving again, albeit a 2mill expensive one.
And there is never any reason to insult someone in these pages. Please be professional.
Royals will need another starter if they trade Duffey or any living soul in the pen once they trade anything not nailed down. New team, bada bing bada boom
Anyone released from the current Jays pitching mix should realize its time to hang them up.
Nunez for Jackson. It’s a perfect fit.
