Mark, did you just say WSH would turn down Andujar and Happ for 1/2 a year of Rendon?
twins1
He said they would turn down that for Scherzer. He mentioned Rendon because Rendon is a Free agent at the end of the year.

The Yankees wouldn’t take andujr alone for Scherzer let alone with a deadweight deal like Happ’s included.

Why is it when hypothetically trades with the braves, the braves must give up top tier prospects in every possible situation… but when it’s the same situation different teams it’s no where close to the same?
Bum should require multiple top tier prospects from the braves and no other team will give that up for him. I do believe at least one and possible a 2nd solid prospect. But not 2 or more top 100 type players

I wouldn’t personally want to trade for him at all because of the cost you mentioned and despite being a good/great pitcher I don’t see him making the Braves an elite world series bound/winning team. Plus I don’t want to possibly lose another Adam Waingright, or Elvis Andrus. That’s gut feeling I’m getting which doesn’t really mean a whole lot but there it is lol

I’m not sure madbum gets gets 1

Despite his age (only 29) I dont think MadBum is worth what we’d have to give up in prospects for a 1/2 season rental, given I don’t see us resigning him due to our backlog of incoming talent. I think Stroman would be a much better option; given he’d require less in return (maybe a package centered on Wilson/Allard; & as long as we don’t give up Pache or Waters), as well as come much cheaper and with another arbitration year. Imo he’d be a perfect fit to help ease the burden on Fried/Soroka this year, and then act as a relatively cheap placeholder next season. He’d immediately be our #3 starter, and could be even more important if Julio’s 2020 option is declined (though I think that’d be a foolish move – even with the inevitable regression he’s due for he’s still a bargain at $12m imo).
Though a long shot, the same as Stroman could be said about Keuchel as well; at least as far as his role on the team this year and next. 2 years @ <$30m with a $15m option for 2021 isnt ridiculous (esp since we wouldnt be giving up anything but cash to get him). That said I'd prefer Stroman, and I think the #1 priority right now ought to be Kimbrel. He fills a much bigger need than any starter at the moment, would likely be a bit cheaper than Keuch, and should only need a week or 2 + maybe 12-18 innings in AAA or in low leverage situations in ATL before he can transition to the closer role. Once there Jackson can move to the S/U role, Touki & Newc before him, and you gain a ton of flexibility to play the matchups with Webb and whichever 3 of Winkler, Blevins, Swarzak, & Tomlin, are left.

As a Phillie fan,im happy with the Bruce deal. 3.6mil for basically the next 10 months of baseball, plus any playoff time that might come with it.Bruce can backup 1b,lf & RF,while Kingery can back up 2b,ss,3b & cf.Basically have lh & rh bats that could fill in if needed.Bruce also covers insurance on Herrera if Kingery ever ends up staying at 3b for any extended period of time.
