Steve, you are the only sane person who thinks the Cano deal was a bad idea from the start.
mmarinersfan
I’m sure there was more people than Steve Adams who thought this same thing.

The deal was mainly for Diaz. Cano was an added piece that was important to the deal but please don’t forget the Mets got the top closer (arguably) in the deal, who is young cheap and controllable for a while. Please don’t lose sight of that.

OK!

Hey….all good info and he did say please.

Useful dialogue.
The Ranger Fan
Sneaky twins, I noticed by reading Steve Adams post (at least 3) that he is an Astro follower and guessed at some facts, especially on the number of years they have won the division recently, 4 years ago they were a 2nd place team and three years back 3rd place and the same, unless our stats are wrong in the home office. Sports writers give the love to the hottest teams at the time and go from there.
The Ranger Fan
Not saying the Mighty Twins are not hot, I grey up watching twin greats, Carew,Puckett. Awesome team but not his pick.

I think Steve missed the point about removing warmup pitches instead of requiring a pitcher to complete the inning or facing 3 batters. The point he was making was the reliever should have thrown enough in the pen before entering the game that they shouldn’t need an additional 6-8 pitches from the mound as well and would save about a minute on each pitching change. If they haven’t that is on the manager for not getting him up sooner.

Hockey goalies who come into a game mid-game get zero warmup.
Backup QB’s came make a few throws on the sideline, they don’t get to pause the game while receivers run a few routes.
Relievers have the bullpen and can warm up there. There is no reason why a pitcher needs more than 2-3 warmup pitches (not 8) once on the field.
This is the easiest and best place for MLB to save time and keep up the pace of action.
bhambrave
Pitchers generate a lot of stress and torque on their bodies when they pitch. Coming in and throwing from a mound they aren’t acquainted with could be injurious.
Strike Four
Phegley hitting 9th isn’t as bad as continually hitting Semien leadoff when he’s hitting .223/.320/.346 out of the leadoff spot, and is mashing when hitting #2.
Melvin might be the worst manager of the year ever. He only has winning years when he gets 15 or so guys playing well, and has an absolutely woeful postseason record, because that’s where actually-good managers are, and they routinely manage circles around mediocre Melvin.

In general – the chats are underwhelming in general. It is not more than a forum discussion. Your columnists do not have any better opinions that anyone that stays up on current events. Stick to articles and posts, and try to stay faster on the ball to tell us new events vs wasting time with chats.

or just don’t attend/read the chats if you’re not a fan of them.

Twins are a good team… but comparing teams, is there anything the twins are better at? Maybe 1b? Is that Yuli vs Cron? Probably the catcher position, both Garver and Chirnios are probably over achieving.. I don’t think there is anyone taking Polanco over Correa now or for the rest of the season. Rosario is a solid player, as is Brantley. Springer > Buxton… comparing rotation and bullpen isn’t worth the time, over whelming favorite would be the Astros… certainly don’t compare head to head in April and May, wait until it matters in October.
