Cards really didn’t have room for Voit. Granted they signed Goldy later, but he was blocked. Incidentally, Gallegos has some filthy stuff.

As often as these guys like to throw out the “small sample size”, they sure are ignoring it with Voit. Not even 300 AB’s as a Yankee. But, then again, this guy is a Yankee and we know how much MLBTR caters to the Yankee fans. A.230 hitting dh/1B… Kind of like a fancy Mark Reynolds type player. Reynolds could play third though and steal a base every now and again. The Cards got a great season from Shreve last year and the Gallegos guy is doing well this year. Not really all that lopsided if you ask me.
Oh, and the answer to my question… “Why not release a player that is out for the season and they are a free agent at the end of the year”… “Why not”? Really? That’s the best you have? I have no idea… what do they do in this situation? Do they still travel with the team? Are they required to attend games at any time? Does the team feed him and have a room for him? That would save money for the team and maybe the player just wants to stay home and rehab? I don’t know what they actually do, that’s why I asked.

With MLB teams using the shift so heavily you can not look at a slow power hitting players batting avg to determine their value. Mark Teixeira went from a .290 hitter to .250 when teams started shifting him heavily in 2010. He was still able to post on OBP of .365 that year.

What do you mean, Boston needs bullpen help “more than ever”? This what we call in politics a “false narrative..” Losing Kelly and Kimbrel hurt the Sox not at all, but all the experts who kept whining how they were doomed without Kimbrel just pretend reality doesn’t exist.. Kelly has bombed so far in LA, and the Sox haven’t missed Kimbrel. It’s ridiculous. Why not just admit that Dombrowki was right about his talent, and move on.
