The Brewers appear to have lined up roster moves to accommodate the promotion of second baseman Keston Hiura. Milwaukee will designate utilityman Cory Spangenberg for assignment, per an announcement from the club’s San Antonio affiliate. And it appears likely that third baseman Travis Shaw will head to the IL with a wrist injury, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (via Twitter).
Spangenberg had been stationed at San Antonio to open the year after signing onto the MLB roster (albeit on a split contract) over the offseason. The former first-round draft pick struggled to a .212/.305/.317 batting line in his 118 plate appearances, tallying forty strikeouts along the way.
It hasn’t been a pleasant start to the season for Shaw, either. The 29-year-old is carrying only a .163/.266/.281 batting line with four home runs and fifty strikeouts. That’s well shy of the strong offensive output he has provided the Brew Crew over the past two campaigns. Shaw played last night without evident issue; the severity of his wrist issue isn’t yet known.
As a Brewers fan I’m gonna say being unable to successfully get his wrists through the strike zone is the only wrist injury he has

Anyone else think the Brewers are not using Yelich correctly in the order. Arcia is hitting well right now and getting on base. Why not move Yelich down and have him come up with more on base. Seems like Yelich hits a lot of solo homers. Maybe put him 3rd or 4th in the lineup, just a thought.

Arcia leadoff maybe? Hes been drawling a ton of walks and his approach at the plate is phenomenal right now. Arcia, Cain Yelich could be an interesting combo.
Bat your best hitters higher in the lineup so they get the most plate appearances. That’s the smart way to do things.
Moose back to third and Huira at second. I like that combination better anyway. Shaw can come back and be a bat off the bench when his “wrist” injury heals.
Might want to wait and see if Huira does anything before liking it better.
Hard to be worse offensively and defensively than Shaw the first 6 weeks.

I am 100% certain that Shaw has a real injury. He has 2 options left and only 3 yrs of MLB service time. If it was just that he wasn’t hitting, they would option him.
Spangenberg has better numbers than Crapzart. Yet the Angels keep playing Crapzart.
